Guys, we could be a matter of months away from getting a system that plays all of Nintendo's first party games, gets most western and Japanese third party games, and all games can be played on the tv or on a handheld. Let it sink in.

It really is amazing to see Nintendo coming back swinging like this. I think the Switch is going to deliver big time.

This could be the one to bring me back to the fold. If Nintendo comes with modern features that everyone else has then another hit could be on our hands. What OS is the system running? What's the app support looking like thus far? This is a modern console and Nintendo is a modern player subject to comparisons.

This is the first console I'm pumped for in a long time. The XOne was cool as was the PS4 but this feels like some space age shit. I can be at work playing Zelda? adlfhd!! *throws money at the screen* It has an actual controller like modern controller so Nintendo is coming for the core market. Come fight for my money Nintendo.

Yeah I'm very excited about this, but I'm curious about the periphery. At the very least it should have a competent browser and your basic viewing apps. If the OS is snappy and it can provide at least Netflix, Youtube, and Hulu to semi-replace normal tablet usage that would be huge.

This makes no sense. The system is for games. I'm under the impression that they won't have much to offer outside remasters.

This is Nintendo. Wii U had a better exclusive library than PS4 and Xbone combined. Switch is going to have double the game development that Wii U had......do the math.

I still can't get my head around the name. I keep seeing this:

I keep forgetting it's called that too. Guess I'll stick to NS.

I like your optimism but it won't have great 3rd party support. Probably be similar to the Wii U unfortunately.
But Nintendo games will be there.

The reveal was perfect. It would indicate that they are in the right direction: fast and lagless os, modern apps and network.

I can't wait. A console handheld is a dream come true. This thing can be the Vita done right.

This time there is no gimmick to cater when porting your game. This time it has a modern architecture so devs can use their current engine. The only thing that could be a problem? Storage

Mentioned this in the other page, but there's only one (unlikely) thing that Nintendo has to do in order to convince that they're really on the ball this time around: Instead of rebooting the whole thing like what they did from Wii to Wii U, take every Virtual Console game that was put onto the 3DS/Wii U eshop and have them available right off the bad, and let us transfer the games we own onto the Switch. Not holding my breath, but that would be a dream come true for me. I have a lot of old retro games on my 3DS, some of which I got for being a 3DS ambassador. I'd really hate having to kiss them goodbye....

EDIT: Though, with pointer controls seemingly out of the picture, I'm not sure what would happen to Duck Hunt.

The impression you have is called hope.

So far, the only confirmed games are Just Dance, a new Mario and Zelda. And nonspecified titles by the Pokemon Company.

Rumoured, based on reliable sources, are:

New Gamefreak game

New IP

A enhanced Splatoon port

A enhanced Mario Kart port

I have massive doubts about it getting most third party titles to be honest.

Nintendo's first party efforts aimed at a single platform (I assume the NS will be the only next gen platform for Nintendo) is a big step up though.

I will be a tv guy mainly but I do enjoy the idea of the premise of switching between modes seamlessly whenever I please.

In short you are wrong as you already know

Might wanna throw Smash (most likely an enhanced port) on there. Both Emily and Serkan Toto said it's happening.

The other thing that could be a problem is that if every game has to run in portable mode.

We'll see, insiders were saying not to expect anything different on the western third party front. Bethesda being on board is interesting though.

I am excited about the first party proposition, even if they've hardly shown anything yet.

You are right, thank you.

Smash, Mario Kart, Mario, Splatoon, Zelda and Pokemon around launch.

And thats just what we (more or less) know.

Could be worse.

My hope is that it has games I want so I can buy it on release.

I seen Dolphin emulator running on NVIDIA Shield TV. Some games run quite good and everything is in 1080p for Wii games.

If the NS is more powerful than Shield and we have Nintendo themselves make a emulator. I would be happy seeing Wii and Gamecube games in 720p. If Nintendo do this it would make NS a must buy.

IMO, that's easy, I even think they'll use this (VC capabilities) as a sell point:

  • VC (nes, snes, n64, gcn, wii, gb, gbc, gba, ds, 3ds) - play all your games (they won't do the same error they did with WiiU mainly because they made real money out of VC)
  • Games (we're going to see loads of games)
  • Price (I think 249 to 300)
  • Online capabilities
  • Its power (althouhg I think it's less than ps4 but it might be powerful to a "portable")
  • Gimick ( I still think there are more gimicks)

Man, games gonna go so hard on this.

Im hoping for the nvidia side of things to have a software component or app where I can play pc games on the go like the nvidia shield.

I dont know why but that would be huge.

Also, once this thing gets inevitable hacked it will be the greatest emulator machine the worlds have ever seen.

I wonder when we'll finally Retro's EXPAND DONG new game for this. It's been too goddamn long.

And y'all know Monolith soft has something cooking too

Given your utmost dedication in every single Switch/NX thread to see problems where there aren't any(see post 7630 as most recent example), it is has become barely explainable to trust your words.

If you are genuine... wait.

Good point. I wonder how long that will take.

Based on everything we've seen the Switch so far, I'm really excited for this thing. Way better concept than the Wii U and looks better in every way.

You forgot about a Sonic and DQ lol.

I hope they unveil Monolithsoft's game like they did last time. Just a big epic surprise trailer at the end of the direct.

Well, Persona 5 is on both PS3 and PS4, two consoles with vastly different architecture.

If Atlus sees a market for P5 on Switch, it'll come.

True, but the PS3 has a very large install base so it was natural they'd support the PS3; plus it's what they probably first targeted since their engine was in development for quite a long time.

They're a small team, so I think Atlus would have to decide that it was worth it if X number of titles were released on the platform (which would all use that engine). I think they'd want to wait and see how the launch goes (i.e. be able to project potential sales) before committing the resources to have the P5 engine support Switch.

Maybe two or three games will support this over the life of Switch, but in reality I don't think developers will actually into this. Too much work and make the game too expensive.

Only kids-friendly developer will dive into this, like Nintendo and Level-5.

I need this.

Even though I've never played a Persona game before, I'd be highly interested in getting one if it comes out on the NS.

YAS. This would be perfect. I really doubt it though. Lately, the wait time between reveal and release for most of Nintendo's games has been less than a year. Hell, we don't even know HALF of the Switch's launch lineup and that's coming out in 5 months!
