More than 60 million people already have a PS5 and most people think it's ugly as sin even if they won't openly admit it online.

I'm sure yes if they put out a Pro that was visually more appealing more people would look at it and say WOW that looks great AND it's more powerful? Sold! I mean the average consumer is going to walk by the PS aisle in whatever store and it's going to look nearly the same on the box as the one they already have at home.

At this point Sony is going to have a major uphill battle getting anyone to buy into a Pro unless games are a major leap in performance and graphics which is up to developers to take advantage of... we shall see.

I just feel like Sony had the chance to not only get more NEW people onboard but also existing customers willing to upgrade - but if that is the final design they failed imo.

Best case scenario for me is 549.99 with a Disk Drive and a price cut for the OG to 449.99 (or 399.99).

Honestly, a Digital only PS5 Pro at 599.99 would be bullshit.

yep and this should help w/ those buying games on steam instead of PSN because they can get a better experience on a PC. Pro will fit in a higher segment to offer the best performance/graphics at 599 or whatever cost ends up being.

The fact that the Devkit is rumored to have 2TB storage has absolutely nothing to do with the storage of the retail unit. You think the retail PS5 has the same RAM as in the devkit?

You suffer from a findamental misunderstanding of Sony’s plan for the PS5 Pro. They want to keep users in their ecosystem instead of losing them to Steam/PC gaming, and they want to drive increased software sales in their ecosystem as more gamers preferably choose PS for even third party titles.
Meanwhile you can’t see beyond ‘hardware revenue’.

But we can make this interesting by putting a $100 wager on the Storage space. I say 1TB for a base unit, max.

The difference between you and me is that I'm not guaranteeing that it has 2TB, even if I think it is possible or even probable.

But another reason I wouldn't bet you, is that I don't trust you.

The current disc model retails for £480 here, the digital is £390. If they launch it without a disc drive at £580 and the attachable drive is purchased separately at £100, I'm not going to be happy with that if I'm being honest. £680-£700 is absurd. £580-£600 with a disc drive is barely reasonable, but I'd accept that.

Rumors are that while it can in theory run the GPU at the same clock speed as the base model, it can't sustain it. So the typical speed is around 2 Ghz.

I'm starting to have second thoughts if I want to spend hundreds upgrading to a pro. Sony hasn't impressed me with its support for VR2, and obviously the base PS5 will continue to be their primary focus no matter how well the pro sells. So I will probably wait to see if any third parties have meaningful differences when running on it. I'm just not confident in Sony releasing many games that I want to play and that take significant advantage of it in the next couple years. Even my confidence in Wolverine has taken a downturn the last few months. And frankly, the lack of knowledge about future games, the cancellations we hear rumors of, and their investment in / push of Concord, has me wondering if they will have a single first party game that I will be excited for in the next couple years beyond Wolverine.

Probably because hard drive prices had crashed and was dirt cheap. But frankly that’s got nothing to do with the point I was addressing, that dev kits have more storage (and more RAM plus faster GPU) compared to the retail unit.

That's due to the yen being so weak. Price cut in the US is certainly possible for the slim and OG PS5 if they're trying to clear any excess inventory.

Hmm, not sure of current MSRP but all digital ps5 is 399, disc ps5 is 499, I can see PS5 pro digital being 599, and ps5 pro disc being SIX HUNDRED AND NINTY NINE DOLLARS AND NINTEY NINE CENTS PLUS TAX.
