billbil-kun - PS5 Pro: design leak, size close to slim, announcement window in firstr half of Spetember

You can buy the drive for an extra $80, so $780 then, making it even less of a value proposition vs the linked PC that is only $100 more for 10% more GPU performance. Now I’m not arguing that all console gamers should jump across to PC as everyone has a preference, but one of the major draws of console gaming, namely price to performance, has all but evaporated.

It’s even worse in the UK where the Pro + Drive is £800 vs a roughly £830 PC that is the same specs as the one I linked. I never thought I’d see the day when a new Sony console launched it would loose to a PC (with a Nvidia card no less) in price to performance.

You also left off windows... on purpose...

Where's the disc drive for this PC? I don't see it on the list when I clicked on your link......

Why would you want a disc drive for your PC? For a PS5 it is perfectly understandable as you want to be able to buy cheaper games, resell them, or buy second hand copies. Without a disc drive you are forced to only buy from the Sony digital store which is frankly uncompetitive, especially for brand new releases. With the abundance of stores and key resellers on PC that is not really a problem.

1. It costs a few bucks
2. It's not mandatory to activate, it will still work without a license
3. Licenses are transferable. You can use the Windows license from your old crummy computer on your new one. Everyone has a license

Y'all need to stop with this Windows nonsense. It's gone long enough. It's a non-factor.

The disc drive isn't necessary in the PS5. We know this by the data. So no need for people to lie on GAF here about it now. It's optional. The financial comparison should be with both without a disc drive plain and simple.

Theoretical GPU metrics alone will not necessarily correlate to real world performance. I think it is best to wait and see, but I imagine PS5 Pro will handily outperform similarly powered GPUs in real-world performance and visual results. It will be interesting to see when the likes of NXgamer get their hands on it.

I’ve bought a windows 11 Pro key from “Bitcodes” and they sent me a used key that don’t work.

Nice cherry picking there. Just buy a key from a trusted reseller that has an overwhelming amount of good reviews. I’ve used premiumcdkeys and Kinguin in the past myself with little issues, and the one time I had a code problem with Kinguin it was solved just by emailing them for support. It’s like you’ve never bought anything online before.

Then read my actual responses in this thread then? It’s the argument for price to performance and how the Pro has basically much diminished value against PC gaming. Even disregarding the disc drive you have a $700 PS5 vs a $900ish PC with the later offering a faster GPU and CPU combo, with the GPU being over 10% faster. You also don’t need to pay for online and games would be substantially cheaper compared to the PS5 without a disc drive. If you don’t like PC gaming then fine, I’m not trying to convince you to switch, just pointing out the obvious fact that value wise the console is not substantially beating PC. Hence the obvious outrage you see literally everywhere.

The PS5 and 2080 are comparable in the vast majority of games that don’t use RT. The gap between the Pro and the 4070 is larger than the difference between the PS5 and 2080. I doubt the Pro would surpass the 4070, bar a handful of Sony 1st party games.

Not this shit again. PC has multiple store fronts, multiple prices, sales, GOG DRM free purchases, CD Key sites. Fucking free games from Epic.

Sony doesn't offer anything like that, its a completely walled garden. You need a disk drive on your playstation to play your old PS4 games and to not get absolutely REEMED by sonys online pricing of PS5 games.

Then theres the yearly online cost to just back up your saves in the cloud.

You're assuming everyone that buys a Playstation 5 wants or needs a disc drive. Stop acting dumb on this. You and I both know where the trend is headed when it comes to physical media. I don't like it, but we are moving towards a diskless future slowly but surely.

So to act as if the disk drive is necessary is insane. There are many people on this from forum that have a PS5 and never bought a disc-based game.

The outrage that you are seeing about the PS5 Pro is just normal social media bluster. It's a totally optional console. Many of those same people (before they knew the price) were saying they didn't think a mid-gen console was needed in the first place. So who cares that they are outraged by the price? They never cared for the idea of a Pro console to begin with.

Some of those same people also said the PS Portal was a dumb idea and a bad product. And look how that turned out.

I don't have a Windows license, don't have a monitor, keyboard or mouse, also wifi adapter. So i would need to add those to the total cost of the system.

Windows licenses are less than $5. You don't need it to play games. It just means you will have that little watermark pestering you to activate Windows.

Keyboard and mouse can be bought together for $15. Get one wireless keyboard with a trackpad.

Wi-Fi adapter when so many come with the motherboard? Else, you can buy one for another $15.

Plug your PC to your TV since you'll do nothing but game on it.

Woah, add a whopping $30-35!!

No thanks. I would buy a monitor for a PC. For gaming yes the TV everything else no. If i build a PC i would do other thing with the PC besides gaming. So it's better to buy a $800 PC than a PS5 Pro? It would run the games better?

No, because you can pick up a Windows key for a few dollars.

These are group licenses issued for companies and using them on your home PC is breaking the EULA. And using them against EULA is no different than piracy. The fact that it activates fine and works doesn't mean shit. Fun fact: in some countries, buying these magical cheap keys might get you in trouble as you may be accused of fencing.

This is fully legal Win 11 license for your new PC and it costs 100+ USD:

Seriously, you are buying a key for few $ while it costs 100+ through official sellers and you think it's all ok and legal?

You can find retail keys online as well for far less than the prices from Amazon and such. No need to but OEM or a volume licensing key.
