Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Pro Patch coming on December 14th

Most recent pro patches have been good. Probably all are using newer versions of pssr.
I believe this is the first unreal engine 5 game with lumen where PSSR doesn't have major issues. I'd really like to know what they're doing different than say, from Bloober.

Started playing the game last night, but decided to not go too far. The FSR artifacts and blurry picture were really bad.
Saw the video before coming back home from work, and from that, i thought the upgrade wouldnt be too big, but it honestly is.

The game looks much higher res compared to before. The picture looks much cleaner too without all of the FSR artifacts. Hell, with the better IQ, the settings even look higher, even tho it seems the devs didnt change those.

The game just looks much much better than before. And i think youtube videos dont convey that properly.

Marvel Rivals seems to be a good implementation too with their Pro mode from what I've seen.

This game shows (as some others had already) that you need 120hz vrr tv to really get good performance in most games this gen on consoles.

At 120hz mode it can use low frame rate compensation.
From what I understand, it "can" if the game is explicitly programmed to. It isn't system-level like Xbox. I wish Sony hadn't fumbled this. We wouldn't even need to be discussing framerate, 40hz etc. Everything would just run at max framerate with VRR.

  • The stability of frame rates and visual clarity in both Balanced Mode and Quality Mode have been enhanced.
  • The input response speed has been improved in Performance Mode.
So has anybody tested or felt any difference with the "input response" or "stability of frames" of the 60fps perf mode with frame gen mode? Also anybody notice any difference with the graphics in that mode? Also, did anybody notice that it now has a sharpening option. I don't think that was there before this update.

I have a 120HZ VRR TV. But 40fps is a big no for me. Especially on OLED.

Maybe I'm gonne play it on my 75 inch Mini LED instead.🤔

YouTube will never translate what we will see on our TVs at home. Glad to hear the upgrade did wonders for this one. I'll play it sometime this weekend.

Damn a game that kinda needs the pro to run alright. That's worse than a bad pro patch. Hopefully it's rare. Rebirth was badly compromised in performance mode but the quality mode was perfectly fine so no pro needed.

My PC is just strong enough to handle this game pretty well, so I've got an option for these heavy games a long as they run at all on a PS5.

Don't remember the game having a sharpness slider before.

Anyway, once again, people appear to be glad with a minimum/barebones enhancement patch, yes, game looks nice now on balanced but, this is an action game and a sub 60fps performance is a no-go for me, imagine spending 800 Euros and being happy with this kind of patch.

Unfortunately, it's still gonna be performance mode for me with its bad IQ and the slider set to 4 since it's an OK compromise between blurry and over sharpened.

This console has been a scam so far cause we can't blame everything on the devs, they've been more bad patches than actual good ones.

I'm preferring the Balanced 40fps/120Hz mode by far. The Performance modes using FSR look really bad. Quality in 120Hz mode was running laggy for me. It worked better in 60Hz mode.

This game needs frame gen to hit 60fps from 30fps at 1080p. It's 100% blame on the devs. Bad optimization. That's not Sony fault.

Haven't seen anyone mention how bad the LOD pop-in looks with this new patch. I don't recall it being this noticeable on the base version. Really distracting when you're running along and tons of shadow detail starts popping in like 20 feet in front of you 😵‍💫

The other nitpick I have is that ugly moving blotchiness in any volumetric lighting or light beams. From my understanding it seems to be a byproduct of PSSR trying to resolve the noisiness of the lumen lighting by blurring the shit out of it. It's the same blotchy lighting seen in the SH2 remake. PSSR is really shitting the bed on this, I hope it gets fixed in the next version…

86% of performance of unpatched version after the patch. Cost of PSSR or they increased something else in as well?

Wukong's PS5 Pro patch is an interim update, and the developer will continue to improve the UE5 60fps mode.
It's also true that there are far more good patches than bad ones for PS5 Pro. Please count them up.
