About 10 months ago I got chastised for saying I saw Borat in theaters. Got some random label put on me that they never explained(probably made no sense anyways). Last thing I saw of this guy was Bruno(which was alright but not nearly as funny to me at the time as Borat). The Ali G stuff he did was hilarious too. I haven't really followed him since Bruno and he seemed to have fallen into obscurity since then with the exception of The Dictator.

He did "Who is America" on Showtime. It was hit or miss, but there were some genuinely good stuff, like the Mosque in Arizona and the self defense training bits.

The dictator was such a disappointment, I went in thinking it was going to be like Borat.

When the movie started I thought he was just doing a skit and then it would get into the live action comedy stuff, but it kept going and going and then I realized he made a scripted comedy

yeh i didnt like bruno as much for some reason before, but now i watch it i almost prefer it more than borat. both films, and their (and the ali g) tv 'sketches' before are hilarious. grace randolph reviewed it and its ehhh, we'll see.

the ali g movie is interesting, it plays out like a silly stoner film like kevin & perry go large crossed with the inbetweeners. its not the same format, and thus not as interesting - but i still enjoyed it for what it was; though it seems everyone despises it lol

His very early Ali G stuff he did before he got his own show was comedy gold. It might be a product of its time but when I saw it I didn't know who he was. It was a video of all his skits and all of us that were watching it were in hysterics to the point we had to stop the video because we were missing it. I need to watch it again, it's been 20 years.

I loved it.
The Daughter was just as great and she didn't feel shoe-horned in just to score woke points, which was one of my biggest worries. But it's a fun little father daughter bonding trip done well and most importantly is funny.
Surprisingly, one of my favourite bits was when he was talking to the old Jewish ladies. Sudden out of nowhere wholesome.

Would recommend.
