Shock is nice because nothing is actually weak to shock. You get the benefit of stomping shields and the occasional DoT bonus without worrying about a baseline weakness, unlike fire or corrosive. It's a great element for your "default" weapon rather than filling a specialist role (though it is always nice to have at least one to put stalkers on notice).

Edit - As for slag, it's pretty amazing for bosses. The only element of grenades I generally use is slag. Using a slag weapon when solo to maximum benefit is hard though, just because the duration of the weakness is really short.

That said, I've found very little use for shock and slag weapons to date. Or, I haven't found a time when I'd rather be using some other elemental weapon or a plain high-powered Jachobs. I tend to just keep a single shock pistol for dealing with an enemy who's shield isn't falling fast enough with some other gun, but that's been about it.

Shock has been useful for me. I use it to quickly get rid of shields, then apply Phaselock. Slag, I agree with. If I want to slag someone, I Phaselock them.

though it is always nice to have at least one to put stalkers on notice.

I forgot about them. Shock + Wreck is brutal against them.

except for Ion Loaders. Fuck Ion Loaders.

Slag is amazing and makes a HUGE difference in TVHM. being a siren, having the ability to use Ruin + converge slags everything and then I just destroy them with my shotgun. Other classes who don't have easy access to slag should try using slag grenades.

I often find myself equipping a Corrosive and Fire weap (generally SMGS) and 2 normal type weps (sniper / shotgun)

I have a Homing MIRV acid grenade with the red text "Spread the sickness." It's nuts, and I will be very :( the day it's no longer strong enough.

Maybe I'll give shock a more extended trial, but I've never been impressed. In all situations, I'd rather have a corrosive + plain + fire setup in my BP.

Corrosive DoT is just broken against robots. Same with fire vs most living things. Plain Jachobs when I want overwhelming power.

So even if shock isn't weak against anything, it can also be said that it's not strong against anything either (shields notwithstanding. If there was a prevalent enemy type that was 90% shields and 10%HP, I'd feel very different about the weapon type). I'd rather switch my weapons around ocassionally and always have the strongest weapon for an enemy type. That said, the boosts my Gaige is getting to her shock game will have me using shock stuff for her more broadly, so there's that.

anybody use bouncing betty grenades? I've not used them much but I find them to be the most inferior grenade type, anybody disagree?

It's what I use for killing Terra when Bee farming. Keeps him slagged easily. For anything else I haven't found a use for them.

Having a slag SMG in one of your hands while Gunzerking is fantastic. I hit one of the difficulty plateaus at one point in PT1 and all it took was me putting a slag SMG in one of my hands and I just blew through it. I think it may have been the Wildlife Preserve mission; went from wielding who knows what to wielding a slag SMG in one hand and a corrosive or fire SMG in the other hand.

They absolutely ruined Rubberized. Now they have a lame ass preset bouncing pattern where in the first game it would bounce realistically / indefinitely until it hit an enemy.

Rubberized grenades where my favorite in the first game but ever since I saw how they worked in this game I haven't touched them. They can't be sold fast enough :c

Bouncing betties != rubberized.

Man the game got a heck of a lot buggier all of the sudden. First with the vehicles going through the terrain making them impossible to drive. Now it slows down really bad a t times and hangs; last time it froze opening the menu. What the hell could have happened. I didn't change anything, and I even downloaded the new driver from nvidia and its still crapped out.

So I played as a Siren, beat the end boss solo and started a Gunzerker. Man, he's way overpowered, during the
Dam rescue
mission I took down the boss in about 10 seconds, Gunzerking with a rocket launcher and a corrosive smg. Couldn't believe it. I'm not used to using my ability on major bosses.

Ok, when farming the bee, do I do the quest mordichai hands you, kill the dude turn in the quest then let him respawn over and over again, or am I missing something?

After you turn the quest in, save and quit. Then go back and kill him, and save/quit every time you do so until he drops the item.

Yes I know that. I'm bitching about Rubberized lol
Oh god they're horrible. The very first time I tossed one, I watched as it bounced a couple of times in the direction I tossed......then proceeded to bounce right back towards me before exploding.

---

Unrelated -- Do Conference Calls come in any element? I've gotten a regular one and an electric one so far this evening. I'd kind of like a corrosive and fire one if there is one, but I'm not gonna waste time farming for them if they don't even exist.

Yeah, CC can spawn with any element except Explosive.

Anyone has a spare Conference Call? I'm tired of farming one and never getting it. I have a spare lvl48 Bee to trade for it. (Steam)

Good to know. And I just got the fire version of the Conference Call to drop (this one has +50% crit as well). Not sure I care enough about having a slag one, but a corrosive one would definitely be nice.

Btw, I'm kind of sad that Torgue seems to have a monopoly on Explosive weapons in this game. There's just something about their explosive shotguns that I dislike. Maybe the long fire animation and low projectile speed. I have a hard time hitting anything other than Crystalisks with them. I seem to remember explosive weapons behaving differently in the first game, but I might be misremembering.

Edit: Just got a slag CC, also with +crit. Come ooonnn corrosive!

So whats the highest damage sniper rifle you guys have found? I'm currently rocking a jakobs 30,001 damage rifle and I was wondering if it goes much higher.

As Zero you can one-shot the Bunker with Bore. It gives about 20k per kill.

I have 3 Bee Shields... Two level 50's and one 48. One of the 50's belongs to my Zero but the other two I'm willing to part with. Looking for a conference call of similar level. PM me if you're interested.

I forgot to mention this is for the PC

Man I love this game. Sunk about 6 hours into it today which is very rare for me to put that amount of time into a game in one day.

I've been taking my time and going through all the side missions as well when available. Got some pretty decent weapons now, nothing mind blowing but fun to use nonetheless. I love the corrosive teapot gun (what's the proper name)

I'm definitely not going to grind to try and get certain weapons, I'll just play through normally and see where I'm upto come wii u release.

EDIT : Forgot to mention I've the pc version. I've just ramped up all the gfx card settings and saying at 1920x1080. I heard there's a tweak guide but is it actually necessary as I'm happy with the way it looks, but if I can improve it in anyway I'll have a tinker.

I have a skill point to use as Commando. I just got the shield under Survival but I can't go any further into survival now? What is the reason?
