Borderlands 4 |OT| It's about time. Literally.

Can I be the first to say, I think this will end up being the best in the series. I think it's gonna be great. I think they finally listened and made the game more challenging which will make it feel different and also much better.

I'm hyped for this game but I think I'm the only one. Everyone expects another borderlands game but I'm expecting the best borderlands game.

I've sniffed it out. Let's see if I'm right.

Also BL3 launched with terrible performance on whatever playstation I was playing it on and then gradually it was made efficient and ended up running smooth and looking good but it took a while. All you performance snobs be ready because that is just how these games are released. Graphics whores don't deserve fun anyway.

It has to do a lot to dethrone BL2.

Everything I've seen tells me it has the potential to be a great Borderlands game. Just 2 more days!!

Borderlands 2 writing is why this series went full retarded. It's was written by Destructoid blogger Anthony Burch for fucks sake. Fans really need to stop deifying that game. It's embarrassing.

You can be the first to say that if you like.

Also the bolded really isn't acceptable. A working polished product is the least you should expect.

And yet is the best story we had till now 🤷‍♂️
I think it's nostalgia driving it. We were all much younger at the time so people look back on it more fondly than they should.

I played through the game again recently and it was insufferable. Probably because wacky characters and sarcastic dialogue is so played out now. That game was basically ground zero.

I truly don't see what fans of BL2 see in Slag. By far one of the worst mechanics they ever added. BL1 is probably my favorite game in the series due to that isolated atmosphere Pandora exuded and more focus on the loot tables where even a Green rarity weapon with the right stats and bonuses could outpace a Blue or Purple and Legendaries of course being Legendary.

And Eridian/Alien Weapons always being my favorite to use.

Time to take off those rose tinted goggles

ok you guys said "nostalgia driven" "rose tinted glasses" so i ll ask both of you to enlighten me, which main Borderlands game has the best story ? its a simple question.

None of them have a good story.

Borderlands 1 has the best tone/vibe.

Borderlands 1 & 2 have the best soundtrack.

Borderlands 3 has the best gameplay (minus the over abundance of legendaries).

Does it matter? Again, they just need competent writing for B4 to better than all of them. It doesn't need even need to be good. It just needs to not be bad, which they've already shown they can do with BL3 DLC (which was actually pretty good)

Slag is only "needed" for UVHM + OP levels, 90% of the players played trough the game without even using it.

I went to the early release for Borderlands 3 at Gamestop and watched one of the last dudes in line freakout when they got to him, they sold his limited edition copy or some shit. Anyway this launch wont be as exciting for me but I am looking forward to the game a lot.

We'll see, if "challenging" = enemies are spongy, then no.

I hope it's more 'you need to actually learn the mechanics' - every boss in in BL3 was beaten by shooting it in the face and you could ignore adds (if there were any) and just tank any damage

I just started playing Borderlands 3 and although I initially experienced stuttering, I managed to resolve the issue by disabling CFG protection. So far, the game has been running at well over 240 fps and that's not bad. Why do you think the game runs badly? Will later levels run much worse?

It has good avg FPS, but it stutters like a mutherfucker? What is CFG protection?

I always thought the Borderlands stories were all stupid, although Borderlands 1 was the most tolerable. My enjoyment mostly comes from the loot and gameplay and 3 did the best in that regard, although the characters were mostly insufferable.

2 has best world, dlc and bosses imo. 3 feels best to play

That stuttering is windows 11 fault.

Borderlands 3 didnt stuttered when I played it briefly on my old 3770K GTX1080 and windows 10. I however noticed really bad stuttering on my current PC with windows 11. Disabling Windows' protection (Control Flow Guard/CFG) for Borderlands3.exe fixed that stuttering problem COMPLETELY on my PC, so borderlands runs at very high framerate and without stutters.

Borderlands 4 is the 3rd big game in September that seemingly has no PS5 Pro support (also Cronos and Dying Kight the Beast). Considering the very first showcase they did was shown "captured on ps5 pro" this is really strange and disappointing. What the hell is going on here with these devs?

MGS Delta is an abomination on the Pro. Now we're just seeing devs not bother. I've been calling this for months as the effort level in most Pro titles this year has been getting worse and worse efforts

This really sucks. Yeah, im the doom and gloom guy for this console but Im not making any of this up. PC gamers wouldn't stand for this kind of treatment. This console is going to be dead in water in a half a year.

Switch 2 situation is just as bad with that console also not getting updates or even the latest games (who doesn't just love playing switch 1 versions on their new $500 switxh 2!). Console gaming is in such a bad place man.

I agree with you. They've clearly listened to feedback and everything I've seen of this game looks good. I think it's going to be much better than 3 but 2 will likely always be my favourite in the series.

Are there playable characters locked behind pre-order editions?

No, the initial 4 characters are there at the start for everyone. There will be more characters added down the line that are included in the more expensive versions or purchased separately.

This is typical for Borderlands. Additional classes are usually sold separately as optional DLC after the game has been out several months. Story packs are likely your standard Borderlands add-on story content, which usually last somewhere between two and five hours, with the longest ever lasting about eight. The bounty packs are probably going to be about the same size and scope as headhunter packs. Those usually take less than an hour to finish, and consist of a single area and a boss. If that's still accurate, I don't recommend them.

This type of roadmap with paid and non-paid DLC (and cosmetics) is absolutely disgusting to me. It is one of the reasons I dropped Monster Hunter Wilds. I have a very difficult time accepting or supporting this stuff.

Splatoon did drip-feed content too, but in a good way. Mixing paid and free "drip-feed" DLC is such a scumbag move and it divides the playerbase/experience. Absolutely hate it.

I hope the game gets great reviews though. Might end up buying it in the upcoming days/week.

Is there a lore reason why I am low-key hyped for this game? Man I hope the writing and the story are tolerable so I can jump in

I would have been happy paying $10-$20 extra for an all you can eat upcoming DLC like Borderlands 2 (I know they added more later but I was happy with what I got).
Now, there doesn't seem to be any reason not to just by the standard version.
By the time I am ready to try the extra vault hunters, they will no doubt be deeply discounted.

I have never heard of this fix, I wonder if it works for Batman Arkham Knight, another game I have that issue on.

I use windows 11 IOT LTSC forcgaming

Borderlands 2 got the season pass concept 100% correct, while the Presequel 100% botched it.

I was considering the ultra deluxe edition but maybe not.

Agreed. The most expensive edition this time around just looks designed to force you to pay for things you don't want, rather than save you a little money if you agree to pay for the DLC at launch, even though you won't be playing it for a while. That strategy was a win / win situation for those who felt pretty sure they'd want the good DLC once it was released. This doesn't seem to be that anymore, and I wouldn't be surprised if not buying the most expensive version will eventually save you money if you buy just the main DLC expansions when they get released.

What? How? Does the pre load not include the full game just yet? Did they really manage to get the file size that small on PS5 for some reason?
29 GB on Xbox I was pretty shocked to see ''installed '' this mourning I was downloading on very slow WiFi hotstopped from my pixel so really hope that's it as if it's not I'm not going get play much of it at release as another 60 GB could take me days :(

I haven't played Arkham Knight for a while, but I remember having issues with Arkham City on Windows 11. Disabling all the protection features also helped. These Windows 11 protection features reduce performance in quite a few old games, and sometimes games won't even start (for example classic alan wake 2 on steam). To be honest, I was much more happy with Windows 10, and especially 7 (not a single game from my library had problems on windows 7).

Is there native dualsense support on PC? Will wait for PC impressions tomorrow with the day 1 update. I still have a few hours left in cronos so im gonna finish it before BL.

Re views will give 10/10 because purple character. Thats how reliable reviews are. Remember veilguard.
wait for users review, generally it reflects more closely how good the game is, if you look at the old games user review you ll see that they are on point.

BL1 = 77
BL2 = 81
BL3 = 56
