He had been seen at the crime scene. And Gus knew that he no longer could be associated with him. Killing him was his only option, doing it infont of Jesse and Walt, was just an added bonus..

Exactly. If Walt and Jesse hadn't been around Gus probably would have simply had Mike kill Victor.

In Gliding Over All, where was it again that Walt recognised that painting? And what's it's significance?

It's been awhile now so I forget

From when he was in hospital after being put there for evaluation when they found him nude at a supermarket. Season 2 Episode 3 I believe.

I don't know the significance exactly.

Ah yeah, thanks!

I actually remember seeing a really nice analysis of the entire episode, too bad I can't seem to find it.

I felt that his transformation to scarface was a little too abrupt in the season 4 finale. Like a switch just turned on after he was rid of Gus but oh well it had to happen before the series finale at some point

I felt that way too at first, but in retrospect it is the first time that he's actually the biggest fish in the pond.

I mean, even when he was a peasant high school teacher he was blowing up asshole's cars, telling his bosses and people trying to save his life to fuck off, beating up teenagers, etc. It feels abrupt, but I think it makes sense once all "the danger" is gone that he'd just go full on asshole. There's nothing keeping him in check anymore.

i don't think it felt abrupt at all

i think it was timed beautifully, up until that point him moving towards the dark side was slow and steady

he didn't all of a sudden try and kill gus either, he's been contemplating it for quite a few episodes and before that his relationship with gus had all kinds of ups and downs

I'm screwed after this years shows end. Both dramas I watch, Dexter and BB are ending and I've got nothing to take their spot! :(

If you never watched The Shield, watch it.

If BB's final 8 episodes are just half as good as The Shield's final run, then I'd be satisfied.

Hannibal and Vikings are both great, and just started last season, so there's not too much catching up to do.

Notice that it's of a man leaving his family behind on a boat out on a sea of blue.

I've seen several people say this...including Walt and I could not disagree more. He was seen at Gale's murder and became a liability. That's all it was IMO. I really don't think he had anything at all to do with him stepping over his bounds.

Yes. This why the henchman decided to cook. He knew he was done...he was simply trying to prove to Gus that he was useful and worth keeping.

Man, I just spent the last week watching Breaking Bad seasons 1 through 5 (part 1). I was blown away and absolutely loved it. I tried watching it a couple years ago but for some random reason just stopped watching within the first ten seconds. What a mistake that was.

Unbelievable show, hyped for this.

I just rewatched a couple episodes from seasons 1 and 2. I'm so tempted to rewatch the whole series.

Just a quick heads up that a few of the on demand platforms (including DirecTV) have season 5.1 up right now, but they're pulling it down on July 15th. If you're thinking of doing a rewatch, you should get to those soon. No word on if they're going to replay them on AMC.

Any idea when Netflix is getting the first half of season 5?

Brightcove media player, but here you go:

- Hank
- Jesse

Was hoping they would have released a proper trailer/promo by now or very soon. Is there anything special coming soon on AMC that would be a nice time for a proper promo/trailer? Start of new season of another big show they air, a new show or whatever?

Gus wasn't Peruvian, was he?

Cause I came across this place recently.

Season 5 of Mad Men was available to stream on US Netflix somewhere in 2-3 weeks before season 6 starting airing, so I'd expect something in that ballpark.

Would surprise me if that's why they're cutting off the On Demand services if they're (hopefully) going to have the Netflix release and AMC reruns soon.

That was exactly my thoughts, but I didn't want to give people too much false hope that the episodes will be up very soon.

I was watching some of Hazard Pay last night, and the Skinny Pete on the piano scene is always entertaining:

On the flip side, that scene and the rest of the episode (where they put together the clever cook-under-the-fumigation-tent scheme) highlights one of the tragedies of the show. Pretty much all of the characters on the show, and Walt & Jesse in particular, are very talented in one way or another. It's just the internal or external factors that led them down this path of crime, and we all know it isn't going to end well.

Wanted posters with composite drawings of Victor were seen at police station,

Remember when Gus was waiting on the bench before being interviewed by the DEA, the poster was on the wall.

Victor was seen by bystanders

Ah, that's giving them too much leeway. Walt anyway. "Internal factors" like being a prideful asshole that couldn't ask for help when he needed it. If anything, it's pathetic that he sat on that talent, unused for 20 years, until cancer scared him into doing something with his life. And then he chose crime.

Mind you, this makes the show fasciniating.

I'm not trying to absolve them of their sins, just saying that there are other options that they don't take and that makes it tragic in my eyes. Internal factors = Walt's hubris, among other things.

Wasn't that AFTER he killed him though. I thought that was just Gus realizing he did the right thing.

Chilean. It's heavily implied that he was a high ranking general in the Pinochet dictatorship.
Wait, where was this implied??? I thought they just mentioned Chilie but never said anything at all about it. Just stuff like 'we know who you are' like he had some organized crime ties.

Tio refers to Gus as "Generalisimo" and since he's Chilean, there's a connection. Gus also specifically mentions Pinochet in his alibi to the DEA.

Seems unlikely, given how young he was. I figured him for the son of such a person.

This is also possible. Or Gus could have potentially been Pinochet's protege or something of the sort, as well.

Definitely seems too late in the game to devote an episode to Gus' background, but I hope when the series is over Gilligan sheds a little light on it.
