I've updated my profile. Now I've finally gotten online again, it'd be nice to play some Gaffers now and then.

We usually have few "Last of Us" sessions that are a great laugh (especially when Tash is on board). Fingers crossed we might get some PC sessions on board if you're more of a PC gamer.

So, I survived the night... I was awake at various intervals during the night so I am fairly fucking exhausted today. I slept with a light on as well.

My fear of horror movies is purely because when I was a small child (for those who have met me and say you're still a small child, fuck you) - I used to watch my dad play video games, and I'm 90% sure it was Resident Evil 2 that he was playing and the dogs jumping through the window managed to scare the living shit out of me and from that moment onwards I haven't really ever been able to watch a horror film without having to change my panties and having a decent nights sleep.

Pan's Labyrinth isn't a horror, but it's disturbing, dark and possibly one of the best films I've seen. Watch that.

Had some fucked up nightmares last night, first I was stuck in some kind of 80's, Romero style horror film with blue skinned zombies, then I was stranded on some weird beach somewhere and finally, for the highlight I was stuck in a subterranean tunnel system filled with water, going deeper and deeper trying to get out until I realised there were things down there with me...

I knew I shouldn't have eaten that Scotch Egg before bed (I'd had a few beers to be fair).

I am now tired as fuck.

I make sure I'm baked before going to sleep so my body stays in a rest position. Life's to short to get neck and back injuries from sleeping so i avoid it by taking some of my herby medicine.

80s and 90s cheesy horror movies are great to watch with friends man. My old high school buddies and I would always hang out and deliberately watch movies like that. There were a few times where we'd be so captivated but if the movie ended up being bad we'd just rip on it and have a laugh. It's rare finding folk to watch shitty films with because they just don't get it. Like you said, they'd usually be all snobby and only watch good/top-tier shit.

Never seen Bone Collector so I'm not sure. Some films that adapted Stephen King's work are ok. A little dated but Pet Sematary has that old-skool horror movie feel. Shining and Carrie of course. 1408 (Sam Jackson/John Cusack) was also quite good too but stick to the theatrical cut. They used an alternate ending in the directors cut and it was shit.

I'm the same as you. I can watch Se7en, Saw, Hostel, etc without batting an eyelid. But with certain scenes in A Serbian Film - no, just no. Unfortunately, I think I know which specific scenes you're talking about. How shit like that got past the censorship board is beyond me - and I never say shit like that. But that? Fuck that, it should be erased from history.

I suppose the real disturbing thing about films like A Serbian Film versus other horror movies is that unlike all the ones based around something paranormal that you know doesn't actually happen in reality, A Serbian Film depicts stuff that actually happens in real life, to real people and real children.

I think the worst thing I've seen ever was one of the beheadings when I was a child and it was with a blunt sword over in Afghanistan. A lot of things haven't bothered me since that moment and it probably explains quite a lot of things about my personality and me as a person. I think as long as I know things are fake, I don't care so much.

Eh, usually it's pretty obvious whether or not a gore film has any real horror intentions. The first Saw is a good example, clearly not interested in being scary, but it uses its nightmare scenarios to make for a pretty tense mystery film.

There's plenty of "legit" horror films nowadays, not that I can vouch for their effectiveness given I'm a massive pussy.
