I'm something of an energy drink enthusiast. Monster is one of a small number of them that are flavoured by NOTHING but chemical aftertaste.

Relentless is one that doesn't taste overly chemically.

Where the fuck did this notion of British people using the phrase "are you having a giggle, mate?" come from? I swear I had never heard this phrase before certain unoriginal people began using it all over the place when mocking chavvy British people...

Lee bought Pats beers, completely out of the blue. Bonus.

Now we're all drunk having an amusing "where are our lives going" talk. Halp.

Edit: yes, 8bit tunes too!

Right back at ya:

CoLD SToRAGE - Omen Natrium
The breakdown at 2:05, :O

Pavement - Old To Begin

Charles Bradley - The World (Is Going Up In Flames)

Tool - The Grudge

And one last super short one, less than 90 seconds, but it should be at least twice as long! GrooveShark link BTW, YouTube didn't have a link:

Dug deeeeeeeeeeep in the bowels of youtube for this Serph track. Hopefully it works because it doesn't even give a share link.

I spectacularly failed on the phat beats front. I brought this lot instead:

Need New Body - Show Me Your Heart:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RUDrrjbBsV4

Tom Waits - Goin' Out West
http://vimeo.com/m/10626100

Todd - Comes To Your House
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-ZDp28L0b4

Part Chimp - Fasto
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1RrN-99qnNs

JSBX w/ Alec Empire - Attack
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8yjd-y16lZM

Red Snapper - Our Aim Is To Satisfy
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iKLVdKiu5YE

Amon Tobin - Two Fingers (live mix)
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6IMhsYG9PX0

Excuse the mess, I'm on me phone.

I'm OK with that! (And also the Heisenberg one, my daughter pointed to a publicity shot for Breaking Bad and said "That's you daddy." last year.)

I used to get Ryan Giggs, Dexter Fletcher & Alan Cumming at various stages in my life so I think I'm happier with the more mature set now. The crazy beard is gone though, I had an interview on Monday and didn't think it was quite right.

In that case we need an updated real pic so I can decide you else you look like

All energy drinks are chemically enhanced, Monster just makes it taste better.

Anyone tried that Pussy one?

It's the only energy drink they sell at Voodoo in Electroworks, it tastes pretty much like every other energy drink.

I've just rewatched Tangled, and definitely still say Frozen is better

Micronauts links.
Man, these guys like their filters nice and dirty. The Chemical Brothers one in particular was super filthy, love it. The Jag was a cool track too.

Yeah, it worked for me. Embedded YT links always seem to work on GAF, as long as you hit the play icon rather than the link. It's weird. I enjoyed this more than the one from last night, a bit more chilled and not so twee. Noice.
Mixed tuneage
The Need New Body one was cool, and I know the Tom Waits one from Fight Club, I love that track.

I liked the JSBX and Red Snapper tunes too, really good stuff. I've got the Amon Tobin mix on now, amazing! It's late though, so it's on quiet. I get the feeling that isn't the idea. :/

I really need to see that film. I really loved Tangled, I was surprised by how much! I thought it was hilarious, and everyone says Frozen is even better. Will watch.

Fuck it, just one more, batt dying:

Daft Punk - Oh Yeah

Wasted. Enjoy your night peeps.

Underworld - Bird 1.

Great track.

I have really terrible luck with 3DS XL systems. This is my third one which I got last week from Tesco, thought it was fine till a massive piece of dust appeared which is even noticable when the system is off. It's right there in the middle of the screen for fucks sake. :<

Gonna try and get a replacement from Tesco on Wednesday, which is when I can do a system transfer. I have such horrible luck with these it's incredible. Fuck. :<

Morning!

That's a pretty tasty post-ecstasy track if ever I heard one.

Some weirdness. Matt Elliott deserves more love:

Third Eye Foundation - What Is It With You
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aMDPvZxLhOY

Matt Elliott - Something About Ghosts
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TrFNmJlD7KU

Third Eye Foundation - A Galaxy of Scars
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7JJ0WJ_qjM4

Flying Saucer Attack - Up In Her Eyes (technically not Matt Elliott but a frequent collaborator)
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs-WNjdJOjo

Phone etc.

EDIT: BritGAF Musical Appreciation Society out in full force this morning.

The Need New Body one was cool, and I know the Tom Waits one from Fight Club, I love that track.

Glad you liked the selection, squire. I usually trot out that Amon Tobin out at house parties because it has a beautiful build up/escalation to it... And it's great to bop around in a kitchen to. Another gentleman I'd lump under genuine musical genius; guy can do anything!

BGBW

Maturity, bitches.
My MD drive on my old hifi broke otherwise yes!
My HiFi MD player is working perfectly last time I checked (which was I'm pretty sure less than a year ago).

Still have a handful of blank MDs that will never be used.

Sure it may have died a quick death but being able to record anything by just plugging a lead into the jack port made listening to my music on the go a breeze. Even recorded that whole THPS2 soundtrack by pausing it and just letting it play through all the songs. Can't easily do that with an MP3 player!

Sweet, just come back from shopping, loads more tunes! I'll work my way through this little lot while I'm bouncing about the house doing menial chores.
And yeah, The Micronauts stuff is filter crazy, I think it's a French thing.
Ah, they're French, that explains it! I remember listening to Daft Punk - Homework when it first came out. Intrigued, a friend asked what sort of music it was, so I said it's kind of French filtered house.

"French filtered house, isn't that a kind of coffee?"

Genres, lol.

Yeah, he has such a tight grasp on what he's doing. Super talented guy.

We were jiving to this little mix last night:

I was big on the format for years, I think at the height of it I had about 500 MDs all labelled up as my main record collection. Now that I think about it, it was just a clunky precursor to how I use MP3s now, but I used to love the physicality of them and how they'd satisfyingly click as you slotted them in. They were pleasingly futuristic, I'm sad they died out.

Ok so I really am trying guys. I've listened to everything posted on this page, and I gotta say I don't like any of it (with the exception of Pavement and Tool but they're nothing new to me).

But I did like most of the stuff Screaming Meat posted, so I will be paying attention to his recommendations at least. And here's one from me.

Not heard of the Cardiacs before, they're mint!

8Bit! That U-Ziq track was sweet. Didn't help my headache though XD

I really enjoyed these two. I love SBTRKT, eagerly awaiting new stuff from him.

And that pic is awesome, I might set that as my lock screen.

I had a super slick metal-clad Sony player, the eject action was quite arousing, such sexy engineering.
This is pretty epic, it just builds and builds! I'll check out some more, Pats will love these guys.
Wow I haven't listened to Lateralus in ages, cheers ninj ^)^
Yeah man, can't go wrong with some Tool, unless you just split up with your girlfriend or something. Check out this drum cover by John Kew, he never skips a beat. Plus it's really well shot and edited in terms of showing quite how ludicrously technical Danny Carey's drum routines are. And how crazy big his kit is! The dude is a savant.

The Grudge - John Kew cover
I listened to about 3 minutes of it and added it too my favourites.
2 Many DJ's always goes down a storm at parties. Their song choices are so eclectic that there is always something for everyone, and they don't stick with one track for very long. They have a good sense of humour too! I'd kill to see them live.
This was really nice too, the beat is great.

Edit: Meat, I just listened to your tracks, I like Third Eye Foundation, cool rhythms.

Third Eye Foundation - A Galaxy of Scars

I saw them at Reading years ago. They were cracking. My presiding memory though is that we were standing right next to Har Mar Superstar and didn't realise till the set was over.

EDIT: First QOTSA, now 2 Many DJs... I'm starting to sound like one of those guys who claims to have seen everyone...

Haha, no way! It must have been all the clothes that threw you off. ;)

I remember seeing Squarepusher and Luke Vibert at The Academy in Newcastle, my mate Shieldsy heard through the crowd that Richard James was in the audience. "The Aphex Twin is here man! I've got to try and meet him!" He spent about half an hour walking round looking for him, then we noticed like 20 minutes before the end that he was standing mere metres away at the bar. Maybe the moment had passed, or maybe he was just too drunk, but he lost his bottle once he clapped eyes on his hero. Pussy.
I have to thank you all for helping broaden my music horizons. Didn't realise how much stuff I was missing out on.
GAF is a great source for discovering music, there are usually at least a few decent music threads a week in the OT, and there is wicked stuff getting posted in here all the time.
Oh and happy birthday woodsey1982 and BGBW! Hope you both have an awesome day, this is for you.

http://youtu.be/TdIRrmNN_CQ
Haha, well played. They never fail to put a smile on my face!

Some more stuff:

Sonic Youth - Kool Thing

2 Many DJ's - No Fun/Push It

Tricky - Christiansands

PJ Harvey - Kamikaze

The Sound Defects - Angels

The Avalanches - Electricity

The Roots - Do You Want More?!?

Martina Topley-Bird - Ragga

War Peaceman

You're a big guy.
That Avalanches song is so good. I really hope their second album comes out, it is bordering on a decade since it was first being worked on...

Has anyone here had any dealings with aspergers?
Hello. I've dealt with myself from time to time. (Not a euphemism for maturation)

In other stuff, I've now had a proper job for a week. Feeling quite knackered, an getting the train at 7am each day. Got two days in Bristol next week for meetings which should be interesting. And being out of the office for two days means there's two days I don't lose at pool.
