I will be standing in a park seeing the best rappers of all time. It will be a complete privilege, Memories for life and the greatest day that could be.

I will find myself. I hope kendrick drops his new verse when he firsts comes on. WEST SIDE IS BACK ON TOP, PUT YO GANG SIGNS UP

I was in Glasgow for a few hours last week and found out this was going on in Bellahouston Park. It'll be stabtastic.

Death at an eminem gig ? Could one imagine such a perfect ending to life. In the plus side if you survive you will have an awesome scar reminder of the gig.

You should. We need fresh meat.

A human baby inherits one copy of every gene from his or her father and one copy of every gene from his or her mother. Inherited traits of a boy should thus be a combination of traits from both his parents. Thus, from a genetic perspective, the question should be turned around: How can males and females ever diverge if genes from both parents are inherited? We know that consistent differences between males and females (so-called sexual dimorphisms) are common--examples include bird plumage coloration and size dimorphism in insects. The only way such differences can evolve is if the same trait (color, for example) in males and females has become "uncoupled" at the genetic level. This happens if a trait is influenced by different genes in males and females, if it is under control of genes located on sex chromosomes, or if gene expression has evolved to be dependent on context (whether genes find themselves within a male or a female genome). The idea of the shared genetic basis of two traits (in this case in males and females) is known as a genetic correlation, and it is a quantity routinely measured by evolutionary geneticists. The evolutionary default is for males and females to share characters through genetic correlations.

The uncoupling of male and female traits occurs if there is selection for it: if the trait is important to the reproductive success of both males and females but the best or "optimal" trait is different for a male and a female. We would not expect such an uncoupling if the attribute is important in both sexes and the "optimal" value is similar in both sexes, nor would we expect uncoupling to evolve if the attribute is important to one sex but unimportant in the other. The latter is the case for nipples. Their advantage in females, in terms of reproductive success, is clear. But because the genetic "default" is for males and females to share characters, the presence of nipples in males is probably best explained as a genetic correlation that persists through lack of selection against them, rather than selection for them. Interestingly, though, it could be argued that the occurrence of problems associated with the male nipple, such as carcinoma, constitutes contemporary selection against them. In a sense, male nipples are analogous to vestigial structures such as the remnants of useless pelvic bones in whales: if they did much harm, they would have disappeared.

My goodness, I did not expect a biology lesson. I'l try and suck some of the info in to use for future debates.

Are we turning insane because the best verse in the history of music was dropped

It's about time hip hop turned all competitive. The days of ringtone/makin' it rain/lazy rhymes have finally ended.

Sorry Kent but Kenneth Lamar will never write a song like this:

That's not Chuck D.

BritGaf is quiet today! What's going on Gaf, too busy to share some love with us?

A friend of mine text me last night to say there might be a job going at her place, she got £5K in bonuses last year so I'm definitely up for it. She didn't even have to suggest me, they asked her if she thought I'd be interested! (I went out drinking with them one time, guess I made an impression). They're just deciding what the role should be, if they want someone with less or more experience, just waiting to hear on that then hopefully we can get the ball rolling. Happy days!

Life is so good right now Gaf, not a lot more a girl could want.

Musha is smiling!

Love it.

:D

Sounds really good, and you're bored to tears at your current job by the sounds of it. Go for it fräulein!

I'm working, that's the problem. Meetings and letter stuffing and arguing with awarding bodies and results analysis and... fuck I'm tired...

At least I'm still employed though!! :D

Congrats on the job too. Drinks on you!

Thanks! But I've not even been asked to an interview yet, it's very early days. It's always nice to know that there are other options out there even if this one doesn't pan out. It has made me realise that I should really try and get out of here as I am not happy with how things are at the moment.

Lack of momentum = death.
Always move on if you're not happy or getting something out of it.

Shall be taking my own advice if I don't get a raise following my upcoming(ish) review (first in the 8 odd years I've been working here)

Anyone in the south east looking for an amiable IT guy for 20k+?

So they stole the framerate from GTA4.

might as well one of best things about it

I enjoyed both but think SR is trying to hard lately to be different and whacky. Will get SR4 later on when down in price just hope not ripped to shreds again like SR3 just to make money from DLC

I disagree about them trying to hard, they just seem to want to make a game as much dumb fun as possible, something a lot of games, mostly western, don't do anymore in an attempt to be high art. That said though I don't think I'll bother if the make any more, Saints Row needed to exist when GTAIV showed up and was all "hey I'm going to be terrible in every possible way", though I guess it really depends on if GTAV can capture what made the PS2 games so good.

edit: i'll be getting GTAV on PC

The embassy have delayed my appointment yet again on the 22nd of this month. It seems that Norway doesn't want me to go to London for some reason :/

On that day I am planing to watch the theatre play The Curious Incident Of the Dog in The Night time, if anyone is interested to watch it, let me know :)

bitch I'm taking calls.
Suairyu you honestly believe Diablo III is superior to II? I didn't want to take a dump in gaming because it would likely derail the thread, but I'm genuinely surprised at this. It surely polished the action and combat to a mirror-sheen. But the team responsible for III screwed up the balance, loot mechanic, and grim atmosphere & mystique of the plot of I and II in the worst way, so much so that I'm dumb-founded they call themselves fans of the original two in any aspect. The art direction is similarly awful in that a lot of the character models almost look 'chibi', that is to say dumbed down for purposes of function rather than aesthetic. I don't think I even need to mention false promises regarding multiplayer, the atrocity that is the real money auction house nor the twilight-era Metzen who has become so hyped by his own junk that all his writing is ham-fisted, stereotypical and extremely heavy-handed. Gone are the days of SC1 and Diablo I & II where subtly and nuance were the rulers of the day. If it isn't "uniting against the greatest of evils!" or "love triumphs over all" it just isn't a plot worth writing apparently.

I'd love to dude, I loved the book and have been meaning to see it. Unfortunately it's just too short notice for me.

No worries. But yeah, the book was bloody great read and learned so much science and whatnot. Really curious about the new Mark Haddon book. Have you read it?

Are you all playing TLoU tonight or tomorrow? I'm finally back at home after adventures across Europe and might be available. Depends if I get pissed and smash up the TV after the football as I'm stereotypically expected to. See also the bubble bath of Trafalgar Square today.

On another topic, does anyone work in Pharma/Life Sciences in the South of England anywhere? Thinking about relocating and would appreciate some pointers about who to consider investigating for jobs.
