Can 695$ PC outperform PS5 Pro?

Xbox controller is hands down the most ideal choice for PC, PS5 second, and Switch Pro being the worst.

in terms of usability, PS5 and Switch pro are equal if you use DS4Windows, which is almost mandatory for both controllers to work properly on PC.
but then again, the Switch Pro has such an awful D-Pad, maybe you're right

Switch Pro doesn't even have analog triggers. A big L in my book. Can't play racers that well.

true, but for nearly every other genre it can be seen as a bonus.

for racing games however, I'd always go for the Xbox controller for sure. it has by far the smoothest and most precise triggers thanks to a super smooth spring and hall effect tech.

Didn't we settle this already?

You can't build one for $700 but for $1000 you certainly can and it will a more capable and future proof machine overall.

Waiting a few months for the new GPUs from Nvidia and AMD would be wise.

The future proof narrative is very false even when pc had major exclusives they were poorly optimized it's always been brute force land now with it mostly getting console ports they are basically slapping it together to let the master race brute force results thst just good enough pc today will be weak sauce in 2 years

You will wait a long time for the new GPUs to come down in price to less than the pro itself just for the card
He won’t. 5080 and 5090 will be more expensive. 5070 and below will probably be cheaper.

PC gaming is cool but can you access your games if your internet goes down? can you access your games if Steam goes down? no, no is the answer, always, everywhere on everything, except the high seas.

If they’re already downloaded, yes.

On gog it isn't. Steam works fine in offline mode,

You can, on GOG. Or sailing...

Sony is slowly killing disc drive so they don't want you to physicaly own PlayStation games.

Are you allowed to sell your GOG games? No, you aren't, they're not yours. Even if you could, they're worthless. Not only that, imagine playing on PC and not having access to Steam features, lol. Also, i don't care what Sony is trying, the PS5 Pro has a disc drive option and that's all that matters for now, end of story.

If you're a AAA game player, and you're building your PC to match or slightly exceed the consoles then you're doing it completely wrong.

The trick is not to only exceed it by a sizable margin, but to also make sure you're on good platforms that have a future, and choose a mobo with decent IO and PCIE slot selection. That way you are well-placed to be able to do at least one CPU/GPU upgrade as needed and keep up pace when the next gen of consoles comes out and raises the floor of what's acceptable for new AAA releases.

Simply going with the entry/midrange GPUs and calling it a day is only going to aggravate you in a couple of years.

If you're an indie game player then you don't need most of the above, but you should consider whatever current Switch is out there because Nintendo seems to have got a lot of indie support, and you gain portability and legal access to own Nintendo titles.

Simply boiling things down into the cheapest build possible to beat the PS5/6/7 etc is not gonna cut it imo, you need to know what you want, and need to know whether you're willing to embrace the PC gaming lifestyle or not.

Sure a PS5 Pro is cheaper than a PC with similiar performance, but i can emulate games on PC and use it as a workstation with Photoshop, Zbrush etc. It's not only about gaming.

No you can't unless you enable offline mode and have the licence on your device, learnt that the hard way when i downloaded Steam and Gamepass games on the Rog Ally for a flight and couldn't play without wifi.
Yeah, so if they’re already downloaded on your device.

That depends if one even wants to use Windows / PC for work. Not everyone will, so I think this point only convolutes the discussion.

I think the two devices should only be measured for gaming purposes - if the idea is to do direct cost comparisons.

And you have already enabled offline mode, Gamepass games still don't work without wifi even though I have set the Ally to be my offline device.
You asked about Steam and I said yes. I play games offline without issue there. Don’t know about Game Pass, but this is a debate about the rise of the digital format that also affects consoles. It’s not uniquely a PC issue.

I don’t get the whole pc vs ps5 pro comparison in terms of money. If you are penny pinching you would just buy or keep a regular PS5.

My second rig with a 2080ti from 2018 runs 4k just fine at 60 fps with the help of DLSS even if you need to turn down a few settings at times like Ray tracing. Hardly "weak sauce". It's viable for any game really even if you obviously can't do what a 4090 can. Even if it was top of the line at that time that's 6 years and still going strong. And that GPU made me 700 euros back worth of bitcoin from hobby mining for a while, lol.

How is no analog triggers a bonus? That's dumb.

The Dualsense uses the exact same thing (Hall effect tech) and has adaptive triggers too. Meaning you can go from completely smooth by disabling it or get feedback in games.

My second PC is 6 years old and still runs 99% of games better than consoles. Then again, you're also the guy who believes the PS5 Pro can outperform a 4090, so logic and objectivity isn't exactly your forte.

You can't, you can only sell your account.

This sucks I don't like it at all. I sell my console games all the time, I don't need games that i already completed.

But sad reality is that writing is on the wall, PS6 will launch with optional disc drive AT BEST.

Huh? Everyone builds their PC to suit their needs, people that play on 1080p monitors don't need 4090 or even GPU on par with PS5 Pro.

Something like 3060 12GB or 6700XT is perfectly fine for majority of PC games, power is ~PS5 but players can change settings to have better performance.

On this forum most PC players have high end rigs because we want the best possible experience but majority of gamers aren't like that (that's also why consoles are so popular).

You asked about Steam and I said yes. I play games offline without issue there. Don’t know about Game Pass, but this is a debate about the rise of the digital format that also affects consoles. It’s not uniquely a PC issue.

Yeah you probably can't play offline on Xbox Game Pass as well. MS is just awful like that, EA is shit too.

Doesn't really matter if someone uses PC for work or not. the Price is still including the many more possibilities PC can do. IMO
AND it can emulate many consoles.

I don't want to defend the Pro, but the console has 2TB..... and also what's up with all these PC building videos showing high end mods in high end games, not running on these rigs like presented.....

What's so special about SSD size?

I have 3.7TB in total using 2x NVME, 2x SATA SSDs and 2x HDDs.

I collected those drives for years.

The person in that latest PC build video is only including a 1 TB drive whereas the PS5 has 2 TB. Clear discrepancy.

PC is so much more than a games device. Whether or not you want to use it for anything other than gaming if up to you.

That's irrelevant when we're talking about games. Most people already have a PC or device that's more than enough for basic ass stuff like web browsing, if you use for something specific that requires an expensive PC, you belong to a different discussion that has nothing to do with this one.
