Can you tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps?

In some cases it was obvious, in some I had to guess because it was really hard to tell. And what I definitely can't tell is wether or not a game is 30 or 60 fps if there's no comparison. It's hard enough with a comparison for me, even though I got 10/11 right.

Edit: The one I didn't catch was Arma II, even though looking at it now, the rotor blades seem to move faster.

I got 10/11. Surprised by that as my eyes were struggling to flick between the two screens. The helicopter one was hard; ended up going against my gut feeling and getting it wrong.

Turning in a FPS gives it away instantly.

11/11, so yes. Could have told you that before testing myself :P

Ninja Turtles took the most time to tell the difference.

totally expected a jump scare thing

now i'm disappointed there isn't and it's just a real test

that all the vids are of movement makes it too simple because that's one of the easiest ways to tell the difference when side-by-side, 60fps movement is significantly smoother than 30fps movement even on a visual level nevermind an actual control level

11/11 here. It really makes a huge difference, especially when playing. First time I played Race the Sun at 60FPS on a more powerful PC than my own I absolutely smashed my PB with ease.

I used to say no, but since I've switched to pc as my main gaming platform for a couple of months, I definitely seem to see the difference. Maybe just psychological because I always have FRAPS on to monitor the frame-rate, or I actually can see the difference. I'm inclined to think the latter.

I got 11/11 and Resolution isn't even a factor for me. The only two that was a little hard to differentiate were the New Vegas and Teenage mutant turtles clips

I switched my TLOU to 30FPS just for fun. I couldn't really see any difference but I switched it back because for whatever reason something just felt off. I have never really been big on FPS. If the game runs smooth that's the only thing I worry about. That being said, if I'm given the choice between a smooth 60FPS and a smooth 30 FPS, I'm going to take the higher frame rate every time. Why wouldn't you?

This wasn't fun really. Apart from the last one everything just took me looking at one for a second then I knew if it was 30 or 60, as everyone should.

It doesn't even have to be the same game in these tests though, and it if it wants it test people it shouldn't. Have Destiny up against HL2 or something, or GT5 against DriveClub etc.

Not really.
I can kind of tell but the most important thing to me is a rock solid frame rate, I don't care if it's 30 or 60 but please don't dip - no matter what

My preference will always be for 60 fps if possible though just because it feels better (even if I can't immediately tell whether it is actually 60 fps or not).

I care even less about 900p vs 1080p.
That for me doesn't really mean much.

I love 60fps so much that I want every single game to be 60fps and at least 900p.

After playing Metro Redux and Last of Us at those specs I NEVER want to go back!

What am I suppose to see that is different? Can someone point it out please?

How it goes from being buttery smooth one second to being this jerky mess the next then back again.

Not that playing games locked at 30 is that jarring, since you adapt to it over time, but when compared like that, 30 is pretty bad.

I game on PC primarily, and I honestly tried to tell the difference, but I really can't 80% of the time. Strangely, I CAN tell the difference while watching live action video, but video games have always looked the same to me.

I do wear glasses, so it might just be me.

Can't run that test at work (computer is too slow, both run well below 30fps), but I can easily tell the difference when playing games.

Yup, 11/11. Almost instant for some, a bit slower for others. For example ARMA wasn't obvious at first but was when the camera turned.

About as good as I can differentiate a male from a female by looking at their genitalia.....and I'm good 9 times out of 10.

EDIT - 11/11 in the test
