Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah campus event

I pity the fool that thought she was some bimbo caught in Charlie's orbit. I suspect there will be some "hell hath no fury....." moments coming up for the people that wished ill on her and her kids.
I didn't know anything about his wife before he was assassinated, but she's older than he is and was a successful small business owner and entrepreneur before they ever met. Her life story was quite impressive long before she became Charlie Kirk's wife

They have business addressing news distortion and hoaxes on the public airwaves and to ensure the public's airwaves are being used in the public interest. Maybe they shouldn't, and people like Kimmel should be able to use the public airwaves to knowingly falsely accuse groups of murder uninterrupted, but that is currently the remit they have been given.

Putting a target on the back of innocent people is not in the public interest. It is hard to imagine conduct less in the public interest. If the FCC is not able to address conduct as egregious as this, then it ought not to have the 'public interest' remit.
What news distortion?

Are we talking about this quote by Kimmel? :
We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

Did Kimmel outright see the shooter was MAGA? No.

Even if he did, that's an opinion. We don't know the political ideology of the shooter yet. He hasn't spoken. Sure, he dated a furry tranny and there are reports from a family member and a friend that he leaned left during dinner table discussions.

But he grew up in a Republican household in a Republican state. He was a Mormon. He owned and was proficient in guns.

There's an argument to be made he was MAGA.

Do I believe that? No.

But no one can say with absolute certainty what ideology the shooter was until he tells us himself.

And again, all Kimmel said that the right is trying to distance himself from this guy. And is that wrong factually? No.

We should all be shocked and horrified at what the FCC commissioner said.

Trump is starting to meander like he always does, he need to wrap it up. This is not the time and place for a campaign speech

I agree, but....never let a good crisis go to waste, as the saying goes.

These people are fucking psycopaths.

One terrible person did something distasteful (getting that tattoo, which is in horribly bad taste), but now it's "Democrats" who get blamed.

It's actually a more reserved Trump. It's been quite therapeutic. He's been mostly on message with his typical wit. Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily care to hear about certain things but it's a fine speech overall and a heck of a service in honor of Charlie.

GTFOH (not you, InsaneMetal) So one person is multiple Democrats?

Libs of TikTok ALWAYS blows things out of proportion...

That said... This is DISGUSTING! A man died PUBLICLY and this effer thinks that moment should be made into a tattoo?! Hell no! That's like some idiot getting a JFK or MLK tattoo of their moments of death. Sick!

Trump really needs to wrap this up.

I expected better from this speech but its campaign talking points with Charlie sprinkled around.

Overall, the entire event was wonderful

Trump is only going to be until 2028 anyways. The right needs to move on past him no matter what. But watching Vance speaking earlier, I see a man who deserves my vote for President in 2028
I honestly didn't think they would ever move on; I saw them clinging to the sinking ship as it went down, but things are really stating to change.

Beautiful finish. That's the modern right in a nutshell. I think better years are to come. The left leaning media will constantly try and find the next things but if people remember how Charlie lived, that may propel the next president to not be a left wing idiot as their platform is all about hate and have no solutions.

Today really feels like they lost 2028 already, the amount of young people at this memorial is amazing really. They're fucked.

I hope so. Both parties need to evolve... I just hope they evolve into better parties.
The Democracts would be a far stronger party if they let their people really choose who they wanted instead of using the super delagate system to force the party choice onto the ticket. People know when they are getting shafted.

The right should be able to move past Trump fairly easily with people like JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, etc. all ready to take the baton and run with it

Ironically it's the left who are going to have a serious problem moving past Trump. For the past decade they have been nothing but the "Hate Trump" Party and every single response to every single position they are expected to take has been "Hate Trump". Well, Trump is going to be retiring back to civilian life in about 3 years. Then what? The left has found every one of their previous positions has become completely distasteful and unfathomable to normal people. Changing the genders of children, forcing men into women's sports, unlimited abortions everywhere, confiscating all guns from every citizen, wokeness and DEI, every movie and TV show starring an insufferable girlboss, the entire left platform is basically unelectable. The only thing holding the left together right now is "Hate Trump" and how's that going to go for them when Trump steps down from the podium and hands the baton off to Vance or someone?

2028 is long away in political time, and people have short memories. If the economy doesn't improve it's not going to matter who's on the ticket, people are going to vote for whoever puts food on their table.

I think the right is evolving past Trump; Erica got a big reaction and I believe her message will resonate the loudest after this.
Yep. I was thrilled Trump beat Kamala, but I was honestly kinda done with him in 2022 or so. Was hoping DeSantis would take the mantle. But I do think a very strong modern GOP has coalesced around second-term Trump with a lot of people to carry the mantle after his term is over. I just hope he doesn't do something monumentally stupid between now and the midterms and summer 2027 or so to nuke the momentum. And I'm not putting it past him.

Oh so are you saying he's trying to score political points?

Didn't Jimmy Kimmel say something like that before the FCC threatened him for misinformation?

Rubio is probably my favorite. Vance is a straight shooter, but I just don't know how his negotiating skills are. DeSantis was dumb running last election. Not sure why he handles things as governor but flubbed that. At least he got experience I guess

Anyway, this event was good and a solid farewell. Hopefully things can move on for the better now

... he didn't say anything like that in that video? He used the word "galvanised" in reference to politics?

This is social media brain rot happening in real time before our eyes. People can watch that video and come away with completely different conclusions based on the misleading title and their already existing political affiliations.

Don't get me wrong I like Trump, but today was the first day for me that his shtick was starting to get a bit old. This was supposed to be a celebration of Charlie Kirk's life and he's up there talking about the radical left and tariffs, yes the majority of the speech was about Charlie, but I just wish he would have left the other stuff at the door. Also, I wish he could have just put the ego aside for an hour and let the speech writers do their job.

I don't think people will have short memories about political assassinations though. The economy is important but not being randomly murdered in the streets by radicalized domestic terrorists for having wrong opinions is going to be a pretty big consideration factor for voters in the years to come

I know it certainly is for me, and judging by this very thread, let alone the fantastic turnout for the memorial event, I am far from the only one.

Well, people don't read articles, they read headlines, and people don't watch videos, they read posts. I suspect it's more a case of people not watching the video at all and being misled by bad actors out to abuse this for their own agenda.
