Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah campus event

Even as a more liberal minded person this is a horribly tragic thing to happen. Even if someone disagrees with his policies or views, this isn't how you handle things. Fucking gross, and even more so anyone celebrating this as it only encourages more extremist behavior that none of us are safe from.
I was thinking this too. I don't agree with his views but would not wish death on him. It's kind of depressing to see people celebrating death like this.

You are right

A democratic senator in Minesotta was killed weeks ago and nobody talks about it. Trump was almost assassinated too

This isn't new violence it just keeps escalating from both sides. From an outside perspective I don't know how America cools off enough not to have a civil war the way things are headed
I see Civil War is trending

And some in my family have made fun of me over the years for building and fortifying my bunker

I noticed he was talking about trans issues when he got shot.

God forbid if the shooter turns out to be transgender. That's really going to start fueling the hatred.

Don't be disingenuous. I can find dozens of tweets from him empathizing with death and offering prayers, and/or retweeting those who do. Hell he just did it last week with Iryna. Be better.

Again, just his own words. Let's chalk this up as some of the gun violence that he said is necessary so that other gun nuts can shoot up schools. 🇺🇸🫡

It 'doesn't get talked about' because she was killed for betraying the Democratic party, immediately after doing it.

There is no 'both sides' here, it is overwhelmingly a practice of the far left, both against the opposition and to assert control over their own party.

Give power to AI. Humans aren't capable of effectively being civilised. I guess it's always been this way.

Best thing to do is check out from all the noise and focus on your own life. Man lost his for debating with the public. Why bother?

The internet and social media is a cesspit. But it won't get better. This is a dark age.

This is so beyond fucked up, dude was younger than a lot of us in this forum.

Had kids for Christ sake…. Im at a loss for words.

The United States is poisoned.

I agree that people are exaggerating about the political violence "only coming from the left," but I don't remember seeing large swaths of right-wing people cheering for these things on the internet.

Meanwhile on re, certain subreddits, bluesky, there are quite literally thousands of lunatics fist pumping right now, encouraged by equally psychopathic moderators. It's very disturbing.
The issue is everytime there is a shooting where innocent kids are mowed down completely senselessly, people like Charlie Kirk is in the headlines saying stupid shit like "Sorry but this is the cost of being able to bear our God given AR15s". So yeah, when you have to deal with the callous shit people are saying while entire communities are being destroyed, or saying it's fake news or a government psyop to take ur guns away, incensed people feel some karmic justice that they are now being forced to face the problem they've "created". obviously it's much more complicated than that, but that's how they see it

What an image. They tried to shoot Trump when he said "If you really want to see something that's sad, take a look at what happened..." The assassins seem to try and time it with something.

We know no Wokies will be assassinated because it's better to let them talk. They martyred Kirk. Hopefully there is a silver lining to this nasty week.

Okay, so then real talk. How likely is this to cause a:

1) Copy cat shooting of other "online influencers"
2) Retribution attack against CK's political opponents?

I'm getting the heebie-jeebies that this could be a big escalatory moment in these kinds of events.

We won't enter a civil war but the normalization of political violence has started. It's almost certainly gonna to get worse in the coming years.

You noticed? Or is this the first thing your roommate started talking about? 🤔
No. She's asleep right now. I don't even know if she knows about this yet. A friend of mine sent me the video where you see him actually getting shot in the neck and all the blood gushing. Pretty horrifying.

A few years ago i would have called you crazy but not today.
If one can afford it, i'd say go for it.

Although, to be honest i don't see a civil war lasting more than a few days in USA today, unless the military is also split into two.
Civilians who think they can overthrow the government with their AR15s are delusional.

It seems like CK had a huge following, does one of them do something crazy in response? Who knows but an escalation after this seems likely. This is not the end.

Very sad stuff. I'm 60 years old and I can't remember a time worse than this.
Kids deserve a better world than this.

Social media won't get better, it's a disease that should be eliminated.

Having said that this assassination cannot be put on social media as a whole, 1960s America had a number of high profile assassinations, JFK, MLK, Malcolm X, RFK Jr etc.

I'd argue that currently the political situation is as unstable as it was in the 1960s.

It's resetera. Bluesky is much the same. I had an account on bluesky. I ended that account about an hour ago. Vile, disgusting pieces of trash. Words don't kill people. People kill people. And it seems now that there is one side of the political aisle who preach for tolerance and peace yet dole out violence and murder.

I always used to consider myself a centrist but more to the left. Funnily enough, since Trump came along the true version of the left came out and these fuckers have pushed my political leanings further to the right. And it isn't even the right though, it's still lefty shit I believe yet the left has gone so far crazy left I don't know it anymore.

Ah ok this was a different site, I think it's called IconEra or something? They've got beef with people here.

It speaks volumes about a person when someone who simply had different opinions gets murdered and people celebrate. If Charlie getting shot was "karma" to them, wonder what they think of their reactions.

There was a school shooting in Denver roughly at the same time as Kirk's.

Nobody batted a eye. :\

before this news broke, I literally saw a Vtuber reacting to the famous MGS 2 AI speech.....

I always knew Era was a sick place, but was still surprised that they have a thread on his death that is filled with people praising his death. It's sickening beyond belief.

I read his wife and kids were also thr audience, truly truly sad.
I read a post here and went over there to see. All I will say, There is some horrible people over there.

This was a cowardly act, in a country where we are allowed to speak our minds , no matter how wrong we might be , the taking of a persons life is just out right wrong.

This. I think we're heading more into a 60's like era of political violence and polarization, but hopefully it will settle and not keep ramping up. People need to recognize how this sort of shit is not helpful for either side. Don't let bots and retards online push you to an extreme mindset.

I'm very sad and mad now
Never been this sad since Mr. Iwata passed away...
Been watching Kirk for a while and I can say, by watching his videos, I've become a more religious and faithful person.

RIP

Fucking cowards.

He opened himself up for discussion and debate and he was gunned down for it.

R.I.P.

… have you read this thread?
I have. It's mostly people who believe this sort of violence shouldn't occur no matter what side of the aisle you are on.

Other than the handful of scumbags who believe someone being assassinated is fine if they openly discuss why they believe their political beliefs are correct.

To the people saying that his words were equally violent as physical attacks and such bullshit, i say the next time someone is going to insult you, stop them and ask them to punch you instead.

Multiple videos / angles of a guy in fully kitted out black camo and vets running along a rooftop after the shot fired on X... no idea of validity but this is already looking like a professional hit. Extremely windy day.

200+ yard shot, single bullet to the neck.. whoever it was knows how to handle a weapon. This is surely unlikely to be another messed up teenager with their dad's gun?

I think the Real crazy talk is that as soon as the shot was made, we get this:

Must be the liberals
Those damn leftists
This is what happens when you go left/right

It is immediately, hook, line and sinker, a political kitchen fire.

How about stopping this madness and giving in to the realization that, just like yesterday, and just like tomorrow and the day after, people died, leaving families astray.

That should be the only real important thing right now. But instead, this goes into the Big Great Book of Political Habberdasheries.

Perhaps we have grown numb of seeing this daily, which, by itself, is a depressing take.

I say this knowing the world as a whole has turned to this.

They were practically incontinent with glee when Hulk Hogan died.

RIP.
I didn't follow his content but he would show up on my social media feed from time to time. While I didn't agree with everything he said in the videos I saw, I appreciated his format of live debate and discussion.

Anyone celebrating his death is disgusting. It's not about left or right or how much you agree or disagree with him, if you truly believe people should be killed for having a different opinion then you don't belong in civilized society.

Communist Twitter as I call it is basically the social media form of reset era. It's where all the insane social justice nutters of summer 2020 spewing the most insane and crazy and hateful stuff migrated to.
Thankfully not representative of society as a whole, but on campus a lot of people had switched over to BlueSky. Was a bit concerning after seeing the typical content on the platform.
