I didn't know anything about the stabbing until I looked on the murdered guy's twitter. He was trying to make it a black vs white thing on twitter, especially in the last few days, basically trying to rile up a race war. It's clear that the black guy has mental illness. Dunno why people have to drag her being a political prisoner of Ukraine into it, the black guy didn't know that, but now republicans are suggesting dems are flip flopping about caring about Ukraine over it. Meanwhile, Trump poops on Ukraine all day.So we got people excusing the stabbing of the Ukrainian women and celebrating the killing of Charlie Kirk.

I avoided the whole gaf/era drama and stayed on gaf, but you have people in this topic who immediately run to era to see what they are posting. Why? If he's left, does it make a difference? Does it bring back the democrat that was shot on her doorstep by a republican? Or make it even that republicans celebrated and mocked the death? If he's black, does it make a difference? Does it change the fact that the stabber had mental illness? If it's a false flag, does it change the fact that the world is run by billionaires that couldn't give one iota of a fuck about any of our well beings?
Absolutely wild to me that gamers can navigate a Hideo Kojima videogame plotline but not be able to identify hateful ideologies and agendas, public manipulation, etc without being swayed in either direction by an internet video, tweet or shitpost somewhere. Meanwhile billionaires on a yacht or a bunker just trying to enjoy a lacroix while we are on the verge of civil war.
It's a sad world and the people that actually live free and hold the power would probably wipe all of their own countrymen off the map to retain it, regardless of party affiliation.

I saw Charlie Kirk speak last year leading up to the election. He was a brilliant person, a hard worker, a great family man and genuinely loved America. He will be missed.

What I'm saying is that there are certian upsides to cultural homogeny. It absolutely has serious downsides as well (Imperial Japan), but the rules about violence and boundaries are often well established in those cultures.

So there was a budget proposal released in August for next year and in said proposal had decreases in federal funding for mental health services. So sounds like the mental issue isn't getting solved soon. We're back at square one with 2A it seems so I guess thoughts and prayers will have to suffice for now.

You're not wrong. The problem is restricting access to new guns sold won't result in a meaningful reduction in crime because there are already more guns on the ground in the USA than we have people living here (400+ million guns vs 330 million people). If you make it harder to get new guns, that just means the black market prices for existing guns goes up a little bit. The criminals who are buying guns on the black market will pay the increased price, meanwhile it will be harder for law abiding citizens to get guns to protect themselves from the criminals.
Any conversation about gun control that doesn't include a plan to reduce the number of existing guns on the ground is just virtue signaling. It's not actually going to help solve the problem, and it's not going to act as "an important first step". And the problem with any plan to reduce the number of existing guns on the ground is we have a solid 5% of the population who are telling us the second amendment is the most important freedom this country provides. At least 0.5% are willing to say they would fight a civil war to prevent the government from confiscating their guns.
No one in government is going to propose or vote for a bill that aims to take guns away from lawful citizens. For one, that would make them enemy #1 for every crazy gun nut out there. #2, even if they were willing to put their own personal safety at risk, no one is going to follow them down that path.
I'm not supporting the caricature of "If you don't like it, get the hell out". It's quite silly and dismissive. Unfortunately, in the USA, when we're talking about the gun issue, the situation isn't going to change. People are free to complain about it all they want (free speech!), but any sensible person knows that complaining is just wasted energy that will accomplish nothing.

Here's the problem though. We do not know what exactly was written, and I think a lot of people would the surprised by how dumb emotional and lets be real here mentally unwell (if you disagree with a person so much that you want to murder them and will actually go through with it you are mentally unwell and unfit to be in society and there are no if and or buts) college students can be.
Youth in our country act on emotion more than anything. They very well could think that writing stuff about FIGHT THE FACISTS and TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS on the ammunition/rifle/whatever would be "fighting the fight". I believe the trans shooter that shot up a school had the same thing.
