The guy made fun of a disabled reporter

He didn't mock the reporter for his disability. That was a hoax, just like the "Fine people on both sides" hoax.

Trump used that exact same flailing arms gesture when mocking other people, not just that disabled reporter. He did it to Ted Cruz as well, who obviously isn't disabled.

This hoax is what started the "WalkAway" movement - a huge movement of liberals walking away from the democratic party.

I think (but I obviously don't know enough) that the Democratic Party went downhill from the moment Clinton "illegally" replaced Sanders in the election.
I remember the feel online during that time. People were so sick and tired of the status quo that it's no wonder people were hoping for Trump or Sanders.

I even remember when a bird landed on his podium during a speech and the supporters were almost ready to start a cult around him lol.

The vibes were insanely strong and I think he might have won against Trump. And then he got "ousted". That probably made many disillusioned by the Democratic Party. I think they felt like the elites really wanted Hillary as the candidate so they didn't have much of a choice in the matter. All that energy of hope and change just evaporated. The energy and momentum behind Trump remained incredibly strong.

Not to mention when Hillary seemed to have health problems, once she spat out a rubber ball sized of phlegm into a glass during a speech and on some picture she seemed to have fainted and was thrown like a beef into her van by her bodyguards. Norm MacDonald joked afterwards: "The voters hated Hillary so much they voted for someone they hated even more."

Insane times. It was an exciting period to experience Reddit, when it wasn't as heavily censored.

Are you serious?! It's not the same movements! You have eyes and so do I. This is gaslighting. Nervous hand movements is not the same as the original hand movements as Trump did. That isn't a hoax...

Are you going to say it's a hoax that Trump made fun of Paul Pelosi's attack? That his son didn't either?

It wasn't a hoax, but either way, if it makes you happier, let's stick to him making fun of the old man dying of cancer instead.

You guys are going to end up in a civil war if you can't work out how to find some middle ground.

Seems pretty obvious to me that demonising the right or calling everyone on the left a psychopath isn't working very well.
I don't think a civil war in USA today would play out the way many people think.
For a full blown war to happen you need a big part of the army to fight the rest of the country just like it did on Garland's Civil War.

Any small arms militia that the "left" could form is pathetic when compared to trained US soldiers and they could never win a conflict. This pretty much applies to the rest of the civilians and "my gunz" crowd.

For me, keeping the second amendment just for the possibility of a corrupt government that the people might need to overthrow is stupid. When this thing was written its possible the government has the same equipment as the citizens.
I respect more the "i just want to have a gun" answer than "i have to defend myself against an evil government".

This is embarrassing, man.

The fact that you're shifting to Paul Pelosi is a nice concession though. When people bring that up in response to leftists mocking Charlie Kirk's death, it's just laughable. Just beyond grasping at straws.

And if Trump did that, it was obviously a dick move and in poor taste. But to compare it to mocking someone's murder is so absurd.

Which brings me to another thought I've had recently. When trying to make the claim that rightwing people take glee in violence against the left.....why do the left keep going back to this one Paul Pelosi incident? Why do they bring up this one incident if there are supposedly so many other examples? I think we know why.

It would probably look more like The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Which would of course be horrifying even if not a conventional war with armies.

Well, that would be like saying the people can't do anything because the government has nuclear weapons. There would be a multitude of factors in a scenario like that. Stuff like Viet Cong's success or the events in the Cuban Revolution.

It's hardly the only one, the killing of Melissa Hortman and her husband, murder of Wadea al-Fayoume, 2023 Jacksonville shooting, and the Buffalo supermarket shooting in 2022 are all very recent examples. Let's not forget the very obvious January 2021 incident.

'Easy way' was ABC and affiliates take steps themselves to come back in to compliance with the FCCs rules.

'Hard way' was the FCC takes steps to enforce those rules, meaning possible fines and license revocation, as spelled out in the interview. There was nothing vague about it.
Either way.

Compliance for misinformation.

They have no business fining or taking away a license for a political opinion they disagree with.

Disney lost 4 billion dollars over this. Sorry Disney

I also always go to unknown Pakistani websites first to get the latest news. Their reporters are thorough, they trawl the entire twitter space for breaking news, so when a X account with 11,000 followers brings hot financial news, they're the first ones to report on this. Not even Disney knew about those billion dollar losses, that's how fast these motherfuckers are.

More truth than a joke, imho.

Reddit, when it wasn't as heavily censored.
I've had discussions in 3 subreddits over the last few days. Got permabanned only in one, so it's not that heavily, lol.

Are you serious?!
I just watched the original for the first time it's more like a fright than disability. And didn't the reporter say afterwards that it wasn't meant to be mocking?

So Trump will become a dictator in the end.

ADHD is hardly mentally ill.
It is a neurological.disorder according to the DSM 5.

Editing for a brief explanation. In order to labeled a disorder, it needs to meet specific criteria. One criteria that is for all of them is it interferes.with daily life

Mental illness is not all about hearing voices or "going off the deep end".

In a hypothetical scenario of civil war between the right and the left of USA today, with the right maintaining the army on their side, all i see is professional killers vs pretentious youths?

So Trump will become a dictator in the end.
Is the second amendment the only thing between Trump and a dictatorship?

Looking back on it now, the Democrats trying to force Hillary onto America in 2016 was most likely the "turning point" for me

I didn't realize it then but that was probably the last straw for me and the beginning of my journey to leave the Democrat Party

They have no business fining or taking away a license for a political opinion they disagree with.
They have business addressing news distortion and hoaxes on the public airwaves and to ensure the public's airwaves are being used in the public interest. Maybe they shouldn't, and people like Kimmel should be able to use the public airwaves to knowingly falsely accuse groups of murder uninterrupted, but that is currently the remit they have been given.

Putting a target on the back of innocent people is not in the public interest. It is hard to imagine conduct less in the public interest. If the FCC is not able to address conduct as egregious as this, then it ought not to have the 'public interest' remit.

Dude, I'm an adult. You can correct my grammar. I won't be offended.

The point stands. The corrupt, rich, powerful, exploitative, predatory, pedophilic, elite class laughs while regular people rally behind whatever side they think should win. The team sports aspect of politics is the circus, and what we get for our hard work is the bread.

A guy gets murdered for his opinions and then it turns into a business opportunity. Sickening.

I always wonder if people like Vance and Trump get nervous to speak in front of 50k+ people. I'd be shitting myself.
I'm trying to imagine the courage Erika Kirk needs to go up and speak like she is right now. She isn't really a public speaker like her husband was

She's reading from her prepared remarks but she's doing a really good job

Dude, you sound like Snopes right now :D

He doesn't have to have his hands in the same exact position and angle for the gesture to be the exact same thing.
That's a great line!

It made me curious how snopes determined what happened. Turns out they never "fact-checked" it and instead did a news article. Hmmm…. Wonder why….
