Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah campus event

I love Tylenol
It doesn't destroy my stomach like anti-inflammatories. I need to lay off using it too much, though.
To be fair, I was lying about my love for Tylenol. I'm definitely team Advil but it doesn't give me autism.

Ibuprofen and other NSAIDs that inhibit cyclooxygenase will inhibit the production of prostaglandins which are responsible for maintaining the protective lining in your stomach. It's why there are warnings of stomach ulcers on the label.

Tylenol uses a different pathway, but the intermediate compound during metabolism is toxic to the liver.

I know why they destroy my stomach, but thanks for letting others know. Haha. For real, though. NSAIDs are rough, and people don't realize how over time they can really cause gastro issues.

Yeah, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. For instance, because the prostaglandin production is inhibited, the precursor compound, arachidonic acid, will end up converting into leukotrienes which will worsen allergies.

If you use acetaminophen like a normal person, the risks are low. If you're a moron and overdose on it, the chances of bad things happening will rise.
The problem with paracetamol is that it is in tons of different medications and so people can take an overdose taking multiple meds while following the recommended safe dose of each individual one.
Ivermectin your risk comes from using off label (or off species) and taking the wrong dose.

It isn't that hard to exceed the maximum recommended dose on Paracetamol at all specially in these heavy flu cases. Even with 325mg pills. That's why it's considered that Paracetamol dosage is more "adjusted".

I'm more team ketoprofen for when shit hits the fan (docs here recommend it for orthopedic injuries a lot, but ibuprofen can make it up for it in mild cases) and dipirone for anything else (which is banned in US, for reasons). Both are available without prescription in my country.

But remember guys this is not a medical advice, it's just what works for me. And "winners don't use drugs!" (Like the arcade in 80/90's)

Back in the "early" days of the opioid crisis it was Percocet causing problems. 2.5-10mg oxy but always paired with 325mg acetaminophen. So folks might work up to 3-4 10mg oxy/325mg tylenol pills a 'hit' and be ok, but then they got a batch of 2.5mg oxy/325mg acetaminophen and would take 15-20 pills to get the same oxy hit but now they were waaaay into liver damage dosing with the tylenol. Soooooooooooooooooooooo dumb to combine those meds into a single pill even if the pain relief effect was somewhat synergistic.

I have the somewhat heretical opinion that low dose, but consistent quality, oxy should be available over the counter so opioid addicts can get it and apply a safe sliding scale of use to prevent ODs. It isn't really that different from alcohol addiction, probably overall safer to use with fewer ancillary side effects (drunk driving and sexual assault, for example).

South Korea is a beautiful country with great people and advanced infrastructure and technology, but it's able to build and maintain that infrastructure and maintain public order due to being a homogeneous high trust society, much like Scandinavia (until the last 10 years) and Japan. Apples to oranges.
All those countries have something in common - until recently. Homogeneous population, somebody else is inventing and developing infrastructure, somebody else is maintaining the military...But looking now, when the population has become less homogeneous and countries like EU has to ramp up their spending, while the factories like China are unable to produce goods cheaply anymore it does not look that shiny anymore. Not to mention the prime example of the mess is Canada.

That's very interesting. I used to take anti-inflammatory medicines (aspirin, prescription, etc.), but had to stop due to an allergic reaction to all of them (I also have a lot of allergies). Now I'm stuck with acetaminophen with codeine for chronic migraines where, in actuality, anti-inflammatory medication would work better.

NEW: Tyler Robinson "made contact" with a police officer near where investigators recovered the alleged murder weapon around 6:30 p.m., roughly six hours after the shooting occurred at Utah Valley University.Law enforcement sources say the encounter appears to have thwarted the suspect's attempt to recover the rifle prosecutors allege was used to kill Charlie Kirk.

A shared culture is CLEARLY the most important aspect of success for a nation, business, or even family. And culture often heavily aligns with other, less mutable, characteristics like ethnicity, birthplace/upbringing, religion, etc. So all the "Diversity is our Strength" folks TOTALLY overlooked that CULTURAL DIVERSITY is absolutely TOXIC to an organization, at almost every level, unless it's clustered (ie IT guys have their culture, HR has theirs, floor workers have theirs) and the 'superficial; diversity like race, gender, sexuality, etc is irrelevant if the broader culture is shared, For example, a football loving gay asian guy is gonna find a lot more inclusion with straight white 'football loving' people than a 'football hating' cishet straight woman with the same group of guys. The identity politics markers are far less important than the DEI folks want to admit and its the shared culture of work ethic, comradery, humor, holidays, and entertainment touchstones that allow for better teamwork, shared effort to accomplish goals, and uniting under one vision.

Joshua Jahn, 29, spent 17,400 hours in the run up to Tuesday's shooting in Dallas playing video games, including violent shoot-em-up adventures.

Jahn, who killed himself after gunning down an as-yet unidentified migrant, was particularly fond of Rust, according to data analysis performed by the Daily Mail.

The wilderness survival adventure, first released in 2018, occupied 6,800 hours of Jahn's time and he last played the game on Saturday.

Hours before the shooting he played Team Fortress 2, on which he racked up 3,462 hours total, and Left 4 Dead 2, bringing his total to 1,213 hours.

Another most-played title was ARK: Survival Evolved, a 2017 fantasy survival game he played for 3,563.5 hours, according to data from online gaming platform Steam.

So far no Trans Furry Love Sex Farm Sim 3, but dem viddya games gonna corrupt the kids. The pathway from raising digital dinosaurs and hitting trees with rocks to terrorizing government agents is pretty clear now.

Can't possible be due to any anti-depression meds or anything like that...nope, dem games.

I called this a few weeks back with the Charlie Kirk shooting, games being 'accused' of lowering the psychological bar to violence AND providing some semi-realistic training on how to commit it. They will be going for TV/movies next, maybe that Savant show is an early 'victim'.

Yeah. His excessive gaming was most likely a symptom of something deeper. Like depression or anxiety. I know that when I have periods of severe anxiety I get relaxed by horror and thriller movies. If someone trained excessively at the gym then they probably wouldn't say: "oh, it was because of his exercise." No, his gym habits would be symptoms of his mental illnesses and not vice versa.

Friends and family described a downward spiral that alienated Jahn from society.

The article goes into some detail about the behavior that caused him to lose touch with friends. Basically, he exhibited anti-social and inappropriate tendencies in how he communicated with others. There's other stuff too. His brother said he wasn't political and yet:

Patel claimed a handwritten note found at the scene read: 'Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, 'is there a sniper with AP (armor piercing) rounds on that roof?''

It sounds like he was in a downward spiral for a long time and no one, former friends and family, were aware of it. Despite all that, the article's headline is about video games. I guess they thought that would generate the most outrage and clicks. We've seen this before, but it's still irresponsible and annoying.

No, it shows that old people are less prone to justify acts of violence, but for young people the liberals are FAR more willing to justify acts of violence. Young conservatives are less prone than their older counterparts.

To me this reflects the level of persecution (legally justifiable or not) against conservative causes in past decades while the more progressive causes got free rein to do basically whatever they wanted. So now we have young progressives that think they will never face consequences and young conservatives that are well aware they they face heavily weighted consequences.
I read it wrong, damn. Extremists suck. The liberals were supposed to be the peaceful ones. Where was this survey
Conducted?

Left-wing lunatic killer used ICE agents tracker app promoted by CNN to hunt down ICE agents. Left-wing media is complicit

That doesn't make cnn responsible for the killing. Does it show cnn bias, absolutely. But just because they talk about something doesn't mean they are culpable.

If we go down that road then you can't talk about anything because someone may weaponize any item you talk about.

Trump press sec is talking about it for political clout.

While it's ridiculous to say that games cause mass shooters.

There is something to be said about mass shooters consistently being found among gaming communities, same as reddit, discord and 4chan.

There is definitely some profiling than needs to be done in that regard, but I doubt media and Gov will ever just take that extra step and find the correlation between it all.

EDIT: that savant show isn't related, it's a show about a strong old woman going after right wing kids "incels". A better example is how the try cancel any movie that has the Joker in it because of that one incident that one time.

These are terminally online people. It wouldn't surprise me if he was a huge Reddit kid.

I blame academia on pretty much everything we are in now. Evil people took over academia in the 1930s and have been using it ever since to spread propaganda and nonsense. It has permeated throughout society and now you have most young students favoring socialism even though they don't even know what it really is or what free markets are. They've never seen either so they believe whatever sounds best.

Yeah, if we're going to apply that standard, then Fox News and Newsmax are going to be sweating profusely by the time another non-Republican president comes around.

Especially because that App isn't needed to locate ICE facilities, which aren't exactly super secret. The connection is rather pathetic, but I wouldn't expect any better from the likes of her.

It's for reporting where they've seen ICE agents roaming around and, say, pulling people off the streets. He might have tried the App, but that wasn't where he ended up going.

I mainly learned sn2 reaction mechanisms and partial differential equations.

What evil people? What are you on about? TF?!

You'd think as time goes on, people should be smarter and know better.

It's not like the ancient days where a royal family and their gold hoarding church scared uneducated peasants to not cause trouble or else demons and devils would kill them.

All you got to do in life now is go to school, get a job, pay your bills and rinse and repeat till you retire. What college aged nitwit wants to get radicalized when the goal should be about graduating, hanging out with new friends, and hopefully scraping up enough money working PT or during the summer in hopes of buying a used Honda Civic to get around town? An emotional weirdo. It's the time to grow up and soon to depart relying on mom and dad. But to be fair, seeing weird people on social media is entertaining. Better than scripted hollywood productions.

Too many idiots on social media. Too many kids getting conned into dumb groups on campus. And too many get nailed taking arts courses wasting their time on essays about political or historical topics. Thats why when it comes to dumb shit by college aged or 20-something adults, it's rare you get engineering or business grads doing this stuff. Or any student from more functional kinds of programs. It's mostly unemployed losers, drop outs, and the kind of kid who got his mind warped with too much Twitter and crazy profs in his arts and humanities program. I'll tell you, it's pretty much impossible for a business prof to inject that stuff into class when the course material is marketing theory, calculating net present value in finance class where you had to buy a $90 finance calculator, meeting a real company as a group doing a full semester project with them, or doing labour economics XY graphs.

But I can totally see some weird psych and history profs making their students go ape shit lecturing and getting them to write 20 page essays on political hot topics.

Weird people.

The young people getting swayed are the types who would stand and chat with all the weird people handing out political flyers or the religious ranter dude on the corner aimlessly talking about Jesus. All me and my buddies did was walk right past these losers and grab lunch or check out the used CD store down the street between classes.
