Christopher Nolan is back for Batman 3 and is "mentoring" a Superman reboot

Hmm, I loved Superman Returns. It wasn't perfect by a longshot but it had a beautiful elegance to it and Routh was a great Superman and Clark. You could drive a fucking truck through the holes in the chronology though, that was where it fell apart for me.

I honestly believe that Superman just isn't good movie material. Unless you're going to introduce some seriously powerful galactic foes to put Supes in any sort mortal danger in the conflict of the movie, you're stuck with his only weakness being a rock. Which is rather boring.

Terrible picture of her. However, she's too sexual looking.

That said, she really surprised me with her acting skills in Dexter.

This. But surely Hollywood could de-sexualize her a bit, no?

Oh man that concept art for Burton's film has made me sad now. Oh what could have been...

Doomsday, Luthor, Brainiac. Fuck you WB!

EDIT: Acting skills in Dexter? I know I'm not the only one who thinks that Dexter's entire supporting cast is God-awful. Last season was great, but that was only because of the dynamic between Lithgow and Michael C. Hall. The worst actress in Dexter though has to be his sister.

i'm inclined to agree

At the start of the season I thought she was just some woman they hired to get her tits out :lol

I don't think they can de-sexualise her. Hollywood has tried to de-sexualise Angelina Jollie numerous times and failed.

The acting in Dexter is mostly awful (especially the sister). However, I think the reporter girl was good towards the end of the season.

Only one man and one man only can play Superman now....

....Jon Hamm

Fuck, this would be amazing. One, he could pull it off. Two, casting Superman older is brilliant.

No need for a reboot. Dont acknowledge what happened with any of the previous films.. just start in the middle of things with Superman getting the shit kicked out of him by Darkseid in downtown Metropolis or something and go from there. We dont need another origin story. Look forward and dont look back, baby. Dont look back.

How is Routh doing in Chuck?

Anyway, the problem with Superman Returns is that.

1. Trying to make a sequel to a 30 year old movie is a bad idea.
2. It was more about Lois than Superman.
3. Superman rarely said anything.
4. The kid and the piano, wtf.
5. Campy Lex Luthor.
6. The suit was just weird looking, stick with the classic ffs.

Really, I'd bring Routh back, but maybe do is appearence a little differently.

They should also set it in the 50s. Keep the clothes and cars period. And get some really crazy intergalactic bad guys.

It should be the 30's. And make it like the Fleischer cartoons, with Supes fighting giant robots and shit.

I know Tom Welling said he would never want to be Superman but come on................:D

You are batshit insane if you think WB is going to use anything from Smallville.

1. AWESOME.

2. Where is my sequel to Superman Returns? I don't care that the fanboys hated it, it's a very well made movie with a very great story.

Don't care about Superman, but I don't want to hear anything about the next Batman film til it's a week from release.

Why? It's a fucking Dark Knight sequel. I'LL EXPLODE FROM EXCITEMENT.

They should bring Dean Cain back

... it doesn't even need to be as Superman, just give the man a career again. Last time I saw him he was hosting Ripley's Believe it or Not

:(

Poor Singer. His reboot was so bad that they had to reboot.

I'm shocked Lois didn't drag Superman on the Maury show. lol.

But Duckroll has the right idea, everyone knows who Superman is, just make a "world's finest" movie and create awesome movie history.

Imagine Christoph Waltz as the Riddler in Batman 3...

Michael Emerson should be the Riddler.

Something about Redemption or Ashes or something.

I think the third batman is going to be less about a main villain and more about Batman's role as the official outlaw of Gotham.

Maybe: Dawn of Gotham :lol :lol

With Goyer scripting the movie again, I wouldn't leap to conclusions with villains. He really wants to use villains that are not mainstream. He's the one that convinced Nolan to use Scarecrow in Batman Begins.
And Scarecrow was boring. Ghul was the real villain in that movie.

The problem is that the movies always make Superman out to be completely invulnerable and just plain TOO super. IMHO, Superman The Animated Series got it right. He was like a freight train that you could hurt and slow down, but he just kept coming and coming. It added more tension.

Take the series opener of Superman:TAS for example. He fought against a helicopter with a missle launcher and a gatling gun, and while the helicopter could not kill Superman, it kept him at bay and even hurt him some. It was a great scene, but in the movies Superman would have just stood there and taken it like an unfeeling brick wall (like the roof gatling gun scene in SR for example).

In fact, the entire first episode of Superman:TAS would make for a much better movie than all of SR combined. And it even had a kick ass airplane scene just like SR did.

IMHO, a new Superman movie needs to a few things in order to be a better movie and franchise:

1. Make Superman not quite as super, tone down the God mode a bit.
2. Make Lex a legal but deviously criminal businessman like the cartoon did. This allows Lex to fight Superman from behind the protection of the law, something he can not break.
3. NO SUPER CHILDREN!!!!!
4. Cast an actress as Lois who actually acts like Lois, Erica Durance on Smallville has the part down solid. Get an actress with that kind of witty charm and appeal, not the cold unfeeling rock that was in SR.
5. Please make Superman fight something? He didnt' throw a single punch in SR, not one...

All of the above would be a good starting place for a new movie, IMHO.

Even though it probably won't happen, i'd still like to see Brandon Routh as Superman again.

Returns had a ton of problems with it, but i still found it enjoyable. I wish we could've seen Singer's sequel for it. He said he wanted to go "Wrath of Khan" on it. Which is exactly the kind of direction the sequel needed.

Anyway, i'm pretty optimistic on this. I doubt that Nolan would try to make Superman dark and gritty, since thats not the character at all. It just needs a good balance of story (thats decent and not hard to swallow) and action (thats consistent).

Just use a cardboard cut out that Bryan Singer has molested.

Can you guys mention Smallville at the top of your posts so I'll know to ignore the rest before reading the whole thing. Thanks!

William H. Macy or Paul Bettany are the only true choices for the Riddler.

Nolan's worked/working with: Robin Williams, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt

I'm not saying that automatically means that they will be cast as a villain. But they are all great and can pull it off if need-be.

Honestly, I would say fuck rebooting Superman. It's a dumb idea. Instead Nolan should complete Batman 3, and then go straight into World's Finest.
Did you watch the same movies I did? Superman doesn't fit into the Nolan Batman universe. At all.

Welp, missed this thread. Copy and paste from the other thread:

Brandon Routh back as Superman, please and thank you.

It's kind of funny how Superman Returns was made the way it was basically in response to Batman Begins...now Nolan has to come in and fix their mistake.:lol

The problem with SR is that its 2+ hours of Singer jerking off to the original Superman movie.
