5 more episodes in the series. And of course, in typical fashion, in seasons of likely cancellation (S2, S4), they do a cliffhanger.

No way the show survives another year. I can't possibly see how.

Damn this sucks.

At this point, I'm just accepting it. If we get a S5, then great. But if not, well, it's been an awesome ride for four seasons. I just hope that if it does at S4, there isn't too big of a cliffhanger.

Ouch, unless Schwartz has some good blackmail on the new Comcast execs, I think it is pretty safe to say that this is going to be the last season.

ugh i hate all this dread i get for chuck every single season, my dream would be one more season where they know for sure it's the last and they can wrap everything up

the cliffhanger then cancellation combo would probably kill me

That's not pretty, but I'm not calling it dead yet. Obviously, Chuck's in bad shape right now, but if it recovers a little in the coming weeks (1.6/1.7) it's still got a shot.

As TVBTN puts it...

Those who’ll comment that Chuck’s fallen so far it has to be off the bubble should note that last week Chuck’s 1.6 rating was above average for new NBC scripted episodes on the week. (admittedly, there were no new Office or L&O:SVU episodes).

Also note that Harry's Law dropped more than Chuck did last night (1.8 -> 1.6 vs. 1.6 -> 1.5).

What pisses me off though, is that, as Solo pointed out, Chuck is now likely to end with an episode titled "Chuck vs. the Cliffhanger". Ugh...

I agree with that. It needs to show some signs of life, but things are pretty dire at the moment. Also, there's no telling what the new management's strategy is going forward.

Has anyone seen the schedule for the rest of the season confirmed anywhere? I know the finale is locked, and there's definitely no Chuck next week, but I was wondering if they've fixed the other off nights yet. By my count, we have five episodes and eight weeks left.

not surprised by that dip.

another episode I wish the bad guy was Casey's left arm just to be surprised. EDIT: good cliffhanger though.

Every year Chuck always seems near cancellation, it's a ritual by now. I stopped watching near the beginning of this season, maybe I should start it up again.

I'm so mad. While ya'll were able to enjoy a new episode of Chuck, I was left out in the dark here. They aired some local special regarding the voting here in my county instead. Fuck Duval County.

I feel your pain. My local affiliate aired a special about Lake Erie instead of showing Vs. The Colonel, arguably the best episode of the whole series, the night it aired.

Finally got to watch last night's episode. I really enjoyed it, although I was calling it being Bentley the whole time so I'm glad for once I was wrong.

The ratings thing is killing me. Of all my favorite shows, the only two that haven't been renewed for another season are Fringe and Chuck. At this point I'm just numb to it all. I've been through three seasons of praying for Chuck renewal. A fifth season would be great, but four seasons is honestly a better average than most shows nowadays.

I caught it on Hulu, so I'm pleased now. All around, a very good episode. I like episodes like this with a Who Dun It mystery. I didn't really like the side story with Large Mart, but that pig was effin adorable and Mike in the BM suit is gold. I'm very curious about Agent X now and what it entails. I'm really hoping she doesn't get intersected. That'd be some bullshit.

I was thinking about Agent X and what it might entail. I think several hints were dropped throughout the episode of what it is:

-Ellie talks about implanting knowledge without learning it.
-Ellie mentioned wishing he was there so she knew what he wanted her to do with it.
-Scan of course identifying Ellie as "Agent X".

Here's what I think Agent X is: I don't think that Ellie is going to be an Agent in the sense that Chuck is. I think Papa B programmed the computer to identify her so that she could fix it and enable the computer to implant his knowledge into her so that she can continue his work and work on project Bartowski along with her brother.

That's similar to what I was thinking. Basically, I think Papa B's plan for Ellie is to make her the next generation Orion, or something similar. Not to put an intersect in her, but for her to be more of a behind-the-scenes smart person to help her brother.

Scheduling news from ChuckTV.net:
NBC To Rerun Season 3 Episode April 4

At the end of this week’s episode of Chuck, the announcer told us we’d see Chuck again in 2 weeks. We thought Mr. Announcer Dude meant episode 4.20, “Chuck vs. the Family Volkoff”, but NBC just released their lineup for that night and it’s actually episode 3.05, “Chuck vs. First Class.” Remember, when Chuck met Hannah? Interesting choice, don’t you think? So it appears our original lineup was right, episode 4.20 airs April 18, kicking off the final five episodes of the season.

3-week lay off?

I'm sure a network as capable as NBC is on top of things, and the show won't miss a beat. Maybe as many as 4 people will realize the show came back before NBC acknowledges it.

I hate to say it, but I don't think the show is really as good as it used to be either. I'm not sure another season is really warranted. It's really been all over the place this season.

That's my issue. I'd have been fine if the show ended this season, but I want the staff to know that going in so they can write an ending they (and we) can be happy with. They could just come back for a 6 episode season 5, or probably even a 4 hour mini series. Whatever. Just go in knowing it is the end.

The synopsis is up for the next episode, Chuck versus the Family Volkoff. I've added it to the OP. ChuckTV.net says it's airing April 11th.

Everyone vote for Chuck, now.

It made it to the finals so it's Chuck vs Dexter right now and it should be a no-brainer considering the thread and the fact that Season 5 of Dexter was a complete fucking joke on every level.

This'll be great publicity if Chuck wins and remind Comcast that there's a dedicated fanbase behind one of their shows. :)

Some spoilers from Ausiello:
Question: Please, give us some Chuck scoop! Man, I hate this hiatus. —Ceci
Ausiello: Yeah, well, you may hate this next scoop more: In this season’s penultimate episode on May 9, “Something terrible happens to someone we love,” reveals EP Chris Fedak. In potentially related news, the show is casting the role of Clyde Decker, a “determined and remorseless CIA agent who will go to any lengths and spare no expense — or life — in order to keep the CIA’s secrets buried.” His nickname? The Eraser. Um, yikes much?!

- LOL @ at recruit who looked like S1 Chuck being named Brody, since S1 Chuck was basically Seth Cohen 2.0, and Adam Brody who played Seth was Schwartz's first choice for the role of Chuck

When they were panning up, I was crossing my fingers that it would be him :(

Anyway, good episode, but giant plothole...why not just keep each one in a holding cell?

Also, was this the first episode this season with the full cast? Well, everyone except Alex wh has been MIA for various episodes now.

It was so bad that their fans became confused and believed that Mad Men was actually Dexter?

Future reference: Dexter is on Showtime, and Mad Men is on AMC. Confusing, I know, but it should help you out in future black outs of suckitude.

Also, if you start seeing Bryan Cranston, that's Breaking Bad, not Dexter.

This has probably been posted but did anyone notice that Brody's ringtone was "any way you want it"......that was chuck's ringtone in the pilot when Morgan calls him during the bomb sequence

I thought it was a nice touch
