Thing is though you can't tell if the guy is holding onto his arm in attempt to drag the officer (which seems dumb), or trying to push him off to get away - but why didn't the car move till later?
His body went heavy at death and hit the gas most likely

Slowed down gif is excellent.

Three other officers lied or distorted the facts in this incident to help cover it up. Charge them as a group.

3 other officers lied to cover this up? Just wow.

Just think, no bodycam, no way this comes out. I'm guessing this has happened and the police have gotten away with it way more often than anyone would care to admit.

So, how come this video just didn't go missing? If they were willing to cover this up, then why not do it right?

I cant believe there is even talk of the guy trying to flee. He got shot before the car moved. And clearly he was not and was about to get out of the car. The only reason that car moved was because he got shot in the head and was no longer in control of his body.

Didn't he already have a bullet in his head when the car started moving?

I mean, if he wanted to get away which I think he did (as he refuses to get out, he reaches for the ignition (if it's the same side as UK - on the right) which is what prompted the officer), why did it only happen when he is killed (and loses control obviously). If it was just as simple as putting your foot down, why didn't he do it.

The officer can claim he may have tried to drag him...but I don't think that holds up.

Clearer video would show if he's holding onto him or not.

Maybe he didn't want to injure the officer by driving with him in it... as he knows that would lead to him possibly being shot at/more serious than just driving away. Or it may just have happened too quick for him to process properly.

As I said, you can stop on a frame after the shooting, before there is any acceleration sound, and see the victim's body go completely limp as it slumps over toward the passenger side. Then the acceleration starts.

He was told to remove his seatbelt. Then the cops yells. Then he gets shot in the head.

Even if he was trying to flee, that isn't a reason to shoot him in the head.

I only caught the end of the bodycam footage, but is the whole story of the driver handing him a bottle of beer false too?

Jesus christ, if what we see in this video can even remotely be justified as, "a possibly danger to the cop's life" in defense of him using lethal force, than I guess highway patrol officers are going to have to headshot every passing car when they pull someone over on the highway, because they are in constant danger while standing next to a pulled over car while on the highway.

What the fuck happened to deescalation? Especially with a bullshit traffic stop. Isn't that supposed to be the first step, always?! Guy with an RPG and hostages...deescalation. Drunk dude wanting to jump off a balcony...deescalate. Domestic abuse call, deescalate. If you are unable to connect the dots and see how clear it is that blacks in america seldom get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to deescalation and moreover, receive the most violent levels of escalation at the hands of the police, than you are either fucking blind, willfully ignorant or a bigot.

Crazy cops still act crazy even with body cameras. Shocking.

There needs to be a complete, nationwide overhaul of the hiring, training, and monitoring procedures in conjunction with body cameras.
Lol if Emperor Obama were to actually get involved in some top down action, the country would implode.

There was a bottle of gin he handed the cop when the cop saw it on the floor. It was not open.

Wow, didn't the original stories say that when asked for his license he produced a bottle instead? That's a pretty disgusting misrepresentation of the facts.

Now consider this:

The ONLY reason this is getting attention is because the body cam contradicts the officer. Imagine all the other deaths that have occurred where everyone gives the cop the benefit of the doubt.

This job, along with the military, is always going to attract assholes who want to use and abuse power over other people due to its nature. You can weed some of them out (Zimmerman's multiple failed attempts to join are an example of the system doing its job correctly), but people will always be able to lie and cover for themselves. 24/7 monitoring via cameras is a huge step in getting even the assholes to behave- but it won't help a department like the NYPD which is rotten to is core.

Yup. 24/7 monitoring while on the job is imperative.

I am beyond words. There is no justification for this. There are no excuses. I swear people find more ways to excuse officers gunning down black people than I could have ever imagined. This should've never happened. Unfortunately, this is happening damn near every day

this will hopefully push for required body cams at all times on the officer. Video Facts vs bullshit wording. Can't fight against clear as day video.

The monitoring I'm talking about is psychological monitoring. Everyone knows it's a high-stress job being a beat cop. It wears you down.

There needs to be better mental-health vetting and monitoring for all cops and service people.

just saw the video, glad for body cameras, and honestly surprised the officer took it that far despite wearing it. I guess he thought hed get away with it no problems.

I hadn't read about the way three officers lied to try and help cover this up. I do hope we see charges for them, rather than paid vacations.

REQUEST: Someone's going to do it, but when it happens, can people please make sure to warn us before linking to the inevitable "image stabilization" version of the body cam. I don't want to see that.

Its true. I was on the officers side based on original report. I heard about the bottle of booze and assumed he was drunk. Assumed he sped off, and the officer shot him to stop a drunk driver from possibly harming the public.

All bullshit.

Imagine what would be different if we had video of the Michael Brown shooting. :-/

Given the super-wide nature of the cam and the jerkiness of the motion, i don't think it will be that stabilize-able.

You automatically take the side of the cop just because he's a cop and alive and his report said so?

How could you have possibly thought that was a good idea?

cop opens the car door
victim shuts it
cop stick his hand in the car to grab the keys
shoots him in the face

Sam Dubose made NO ATTEMPT to drive away before the office shot him.

That car didn't move until Sam has a bullet in his head.

I assumed the guy was drunk based on the story of the bottle of booze being passed to the officer. I have very little sympathy for drunk drivers. Just shows how the story can so easily be manipulated to the public.

just saw it on MSNBC too. The car wasn't in gear when the cop was walking up to it (or if it was, there were no brake lights so I don't know how that works). It sounded like when he reached for the ignition the engine did turn over and begin running at that point.

That said, the driving away was most definitely post-shooting. The gin bottle was specifically asked for (not handed over when the license was asked for). And it definitely didn't look like there was any cause at all for escalating to firearm use IMO

Easier to see that the officer reached in after the victim turned on the ignition.
Easier to see that the officer had no reason to reach in and no reason to shoot, too.

It wasn't manipulated by the public. The story was manipulated by the cop.

You just took his side because he was a cop despite all the bullshit they've been pulling lately.

There are multiple sides to every story until one of the sides is gunned down. It's a good thing we have cameras these days.

At least your eyes are finally starting to open to the truth.
