I wonder how much money they received from Microsoft.
probably not enough i think. I assume they make deals to make money for the sales they think they will lose because of game pass, i also assume you're very generous with your estimations but this game blew their expectations out of the water by a lot.

not enough for the lost sales.

They took the money as a sure payment, there's no guarantee a game is going to succeed the payment alone probably paid for the development.

If the game comes out and bombs then Xbox isn't going to want it on gamepass.

Also everyone repeatedly says no Xbox gamers buy games so they lost nothing 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

easily GOTY so far in 2025 and thats from someone who hates turned based rpgs, hopefully it can push on even higher.

game pass fee is like financial backing, heres a nice lump sum that gives you the funds to get this thing done and out the door but without the crunching deadlines a big publisher would force on you.
It feels like a gamble for the devs. Microsofts wallet isn't that open nowadays like when they first started with Gamepass and tried to lure devs. Devs don't get paid for the engagement.

I'm guilty of using gamepass to play something and then I buy it on Steam..
I mean I could also use gamepass to play it on PC but it's worth buying both to support a good game and to be able to play on steam deck more easily.

Speaking in a lengthy interview with PlayStation Inside, Yoshida-san was asked about the increase in video game prices, which may become more normalized with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. According to the former PlayStation president, this price increase would have happened sooner or later, regardless of who would have been the initiator. /fuck Shu gaming "AAA" excuses then…

People like to glaze individuals and build cults of personality around them. Shuhei Yoshida is one of these people and it was always bewildering to me.

Same with Phil Spencer or Shawn Layden.

Wow nice, congrats 👏👏👏

Does anyone notice that when a game sells well, the developer has no problem talking about units sold 🤔🤔🤔

But when a game sells questionable, they start talking about some bs metric, like pLAyErS, MAU, minutes spent

They already profited more than AC: Shadows even though they are selling at $50. This proves games do not need to raise prices, they just need to be good.

Why would you feel guilty? You're paying for goods and services.

Im just as confused as the cat in the prologue about why its 0.
No spoilers im going through the game now.
You are not the only one! The very first expedition flag in the game you encounter says 01. The numbers are probably random.

Nice!
Absolutely deserved and hopefully many more to come over the years!.
The game is just incredible IMO, it's not only shaping up to be my GOTY ( so far) but likely my game of the gen (so far) too.

I wonder how much money they received from Microsoft.

I also wonder how much of the games success can be attributed to Microsoft marketing it along side AAA games like Fable, gears and others.

EDIT: It was put up alongside COD Black Ops, Doom Dark Ages, Avowed and Indiana Jones & Stalker 2.. No shit a lot of people learned of it from Microsoft.
