So Ultimate Spider-Man jumped the shark?
LOL@ stupid Spoiler. Based Bendis. Dude should stop writing comics.
Ultimate Spider-Man jumped the shark when Bendis clearly ran out of steam with too many Ultimate events shitting up his ongoing plot threads (the irony of course being that Bendis now gets to do that to everyone else in 616!). He just managed to recoup the book from the Ultimatum shitfest, but not for long, and I'd say the exact shark jump was when the Ultimates were putting Parker through "Super Hero School".
Ultimate Peter Parkers death then got wrapped up in a crap event comic that left him weakened and all the people supposed to have his back fucking off into nowhere, and Osborn just gets to murder him in the street. It was an emotional issue, but it was still chumpsville. "At least I saved Aunt May possibly!" is not a 'oh wow' hero death accomplishment.
Miles Morales has been a total non-starter, and its because Origin Stories are ill-suited to Bendis' now absurd levels of decompression nonsense. Miles was in Peter's shadow throughout, a bit of a wuss, and even worse was given an absolutely ridiculous OHKO power. Gives up being Spider-Man for a longer period than he ever actually was due to more ongoing Ultimate bullshit, and timeskips his way through high school and back into being Spider-Man because everyone thinks he's so awesome and amazing and the main character.
Fast forward to now when Ultimate Peter is (seemingly) back in action, and he's still doing this amateurish "LOOK HOW AMAZING MILES' VENOM BLAST IS" while Peter actually stands by and does jack-shit (He's escorting the women to safety!!).
Bendis as a Marvel writer these days strikes me as someone completely lacking direction and just treading water/in a holding pattern. Whatever big twist or outcome isn't done particularly well (Cyclops talks down worlds most powerful dangerous mutant where psychics fails because He Is The Main Character!!), and its all just stretched out for the pay-cheques rolling in. Guess you can't blame the guy.
