3001? Why not, she's in every other book, maybe it'll boost sales a bit.

Not at all surprised but the design is terrible. I still need to finish the first part but I really enjoyed what I read hopefully it doesn't get cancelled if the sales are low.

If I want to read Sterling Gates Supergirl run, do I need to read the New Krypton saga? The Superman issues and tie-ins?

As for Peter David's run, I'm going to buy the first and last arc. I have spent far too much on Comixology's sales this month and as much as I want to read David's run, I can't stretch my budget for 80 issues.

I can honestly say I haven't read a comic starring Songbird, but I would be down for a solo mini-series. She was my main in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. I know she's in New Avengers, but the art has completely put me off that book.

You should read Ellis's run on Thunderbolts, not just because she's in it but because it's a fantastic book.

I have two weeks left of my degree, after which I'm going to finally redeem my Marvel Unlimited codes and catch up on everything everyone has been recommending in these threads, like Agents of H.A.T.E. I'll definitely add it to the list. It's similar to DC's Suicide Squad, right?

Yeah it's kind of the same setup but you have the added bonus of Norman Osborn leading the team, it's some great comics. If you are going to have Marvel Unlimited I'd recommend just working through all of Dark Reign actually. That was a really fun time for Marvel.

Is that the Dark Avengers? Moonstone as Ms. Marvel, Victoria Hand and H.A.M.M.E.R? If so, then it absolutely looked fun and I look forward to reading it.

Yeah Dark Avengers is part of Dark Reign and is cool. It's been a while since I went back and read it but I remember having a lot of fun going through the Dark Reign books. You know the villains running the asylum won't last so it's great reading it and seeing the build up to everything falling apart.

Thanks for the recommendation. Definitely keen to check it out. Keep 'em coming. :)

On another note, has DC discussed future plans for Supergirl? I'm surprised it was not relaunched under the DC YOU initiative. Surely there'd be opportunity for cross-promotion with the positive reception of the series?

If im remembering right New krypton is just the setting and you dobt need to go buy superman and stuff. I only got supergirl and I dont remember being lost.

Unlike those crap New 52 crossovers where I was totally lost.

No one pays attention. You should have lead with "giant naked snake lady."

Well excuse me for thinking you shmucks aren't so shallow :V
But hell if you actually put time into watching one trailer, watch the one for the game I mentioned so we're on the same page.

New Krypton had Greg Rucka co-writing, and I loved his work on it.

Is there a list of the Supergirl crossover issues somewhere? I want to avoid them for this reason. I was debating whether I buy volumes one through five of the New 52 run or just the single issues so I can skip the crossovers. I already have the Doomed trade, again thanks to Comixology. $4.99 was too good to pass up for the amount of pages/issues included.

Definitely grabbing Gates' run then. I've heard great things, between David and Gates, I'm looking forward to some quality Supergirl comics.

They said they'll probably going to do something but they let Flash comic keep being garbage while Flash has a good show. Its wierd they cancelled Supergirl when people started liking it.

I'd heard the last arc was a great change of pace. The Red Daughter arc also looked interesting. A quick Google search brought me to a Bleeding Cool rumour about a 2016 relaunch; rather late.

That's okay I get recs in here all the time so it's nice to return the favour.

I haven't read anything about them announcing a new Supergirl book. I'm not sure if she's even actually appeared in anything since her book was inexplicably cancelled. They'll probably do something next year seeing as the TV show is on.

Nextwave is better than Suicide Squad. I know it doesn't seem possible. At least, the humor is at the forefront, whereas Suicide Squad had a lot of seriousness with some humor mixed in.

I should have worded my post better. I was drawing comparison between Suicide Squad and Thunderbolts sorry. Nextwave is high on my list though.

It was Hel on Earth, Krypton Returns, and Doomed. 15, 25, and 34,35. I didnt even try the Doomed ones...they went right in the box.

Its probably still cheaper to get the volumes.

Is it reasonably self-contained? I know the basics of Secret Invasion and how Osborne came to power. Is that enough?

Yeah you should be al right with just that. Dark Reign not being an actual event means lends itself to being easily accessible I think. You can jump into a lot of books with just knowing that things are bad now and the public don't trust the old guard so enter Osborn.

Cheers! I haven't read the Doomed collection yet, so I can't speak for the quality. I seriously appreciate your expert knowledge on Supergirl. It's helped me make sense of this sale. I've long been a fan of the character in general, but have little reading experience outside of Superman/Batman.

The final Shattered Empire issue was a bit...odd. Luke kicking some ass was cool
but the trees were a bit strange. I remember the massive tree in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant appearing a few times in the Clone Wars but it never seemed all that significant. I'd have thought Palpatine would have destroyed something like that, not protected them like some of his Sith artifacts. It'll be interesting to see if they turn up again.

Vader was solid again. I though Vader was finally going to
kill Aphra at the end. Wonder how she'll get out of this one.

Do you recommend a particular starting point for Thunderbolts? I see two volumes on Comixology, one beginning in 1997 and another 2006.

Its interrupted from a Dark Avengers/Dark X-Men Crossover. When I had to recommend a Readinglist for Dark Avengers, it would be

Secret Invasion Main Series
Dark Avengers 1-6
Dark Avengers/Dark X-Men
Dark Avengers 9-16
Siege

I found some old comics of mine in a closet. Amazing Spider-Man 608-611 are these good?
They are by Guggenheim and Chechetto and 611 is by Kelly and Canette. 611 has Deadpool on the cover.

Canettes interiors are lovely. Is that skottie young doing the cover?

Daaaaanng, just finished issue #24 of Planetary. THIS IS GETTING CRAZY!

Edit: HOLY CRAP! (Regarding issue #26)
Snow's conversation over the communications device with Dowler! :O Insane.

Edit 2: Just finished it. Absolutely brilliant. Some of the most sublime writing and art I've had the pleasure to witness.

Will likely read the one-shot crossovers tomorrow to finish the omnibus off.

It is the greatest, isn't it? Such a great balance between being "procedural" and connecting up to the whole plot. The epilogue works great as wind down issue. And one of the crossovers is definitely among the top issues of the run too.

How the heck do you not know fo Warren Elli's Thunderbolts :p
I heard about it back when I started reading comics and own the TPB that collects all issues.
Ellis' Thunderbolts is fantastic and the writers that succeed him have done some good stories that stand out on their own, but generally Ellis' is a good starting point and an overall good run.

Just finished reading through #12 of Morrison's Batman & Robin, now time for the Return of Bruce Wayne. This run is so good.

Be sure to not skip stuff like Time and the Batman, and Bruce Wayne: The Road Home after you've finished Return of Bruce Wayne

I only started reading comics seriously and on the regular with DC's New 52 relaunch. Beforehand, I'd only followed Grant Morrison's Batman and Geoff Johns' Green Lantern following Blackest Night. Otherwise the only comics I read were the free ones you'd find in show bags. I am unfamiliar with many of the top Marvel runs outside of what I've read on Wikipedia.
