Concacaf should fuck off, a single continental tournament with teams from both confederations would be amazing. It makes so much sense.

Like its been said before, Mexico is CONCACAF's cash cow, it aint going to happen.

Yeah, but Chile, against any other team, that doesn't play like if it's defending it's virginity, would had maybe 3 times more chances than now. And you translate that into 1 or 2 goals more, easily.
Granted, Chile sucks at scoring, I've been telling this since before the match, but when you have a team so defensive... every single chance wasted, looks somewhat bad.

Just watch the World Cup '10 match, Chile vs Switzerland
Chile attacked the whole fucking match. Suiza had their goal clean since like 2007. Chile could just score 1 goal. And you could say, yeah, Chile wasted their chances of scoring. But if the other team, wasn't so defensive... 3 goals would have been the minimum.

Sorry dude, but you guys had:

15 Shots
8 Shots on Goal
4 Corner kicks

and still only made 2 goals against an inexperienced Mexican team. I mean, you guys had clear chances of goals that were absurdly missed.

While your team played great today, they do need to practice on kicking the fucking ball in.

Nope. But Mexico is no wonder on the field. I mean, the US scored you 2 goals.... That says a lot.

The US scored us two goals on set pieces while one of our backs was injured -as soon as that particular player was subbed we started the comeback.

I mean, if you wanna be so adamant about results then look at the whole tournament. Twenty-two goals in favour versus four conceded. We are not claiming to be Spain, but we are no pushover.

Our Under 22, that was plugged in from bottom of the barrel players scored on you, and had a clear chance to tie the game near the end...... That says a lot.

See, I can pull bullshit like this too. ;)

Also lets not forget that this is the FIRST time that the eleven starters had played together. Jesus this could have been a disaster, thats why im proud of what these players did. They could not do any better.

Truth is after this tournament at least something changes chances are Mexico will drop from it and any chances to se Mexico face the best from south America will have to wait till either the Confederations Cup or a World Cup.

I doubt this. Mexico is a money-maker for CONMEBOL, especially in the United States. They will probably try to negotiate with CONCACAF to not do this crap again.

Dunno about Gold Cup, but yes, Copa America will be every 4 years from now on.
And Mexico isn't going anywhere, they make too much money for anyone, they'll make it work.

Actually shocked that Mexico only lost 2-1 considering the circumstances. Inexperienced U23 team while having to implement 8 new players just days before the game.. Not bad.

Yeah, sure...

And since when is Chile "top class"?
Since last qualifiers to the World Cup.
Since Chile got 2nd place in the hardest qualifier in the whole world.
Not playing against Antigua y Barbuda, or Bahamas or Cuba. But playing against Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Some of you are delusional for thinking Mexico is the shit because the won the Gold Cup LOL!.

We're not the shit. Most mexican fans realize that and we never group ourselves with the Germany, Brazil, Spain, and Argentinas of the world. But you're kidding yourself if you think Mexico wouldn't be one of the best teams in this tournament if they sent their real team. Mexico got 3rd place last Copa America.

Mexicos A team could beat every team in the world except Spain.

And argentina, but only because of the curse.

COMEMBOL is a failure.

They had to bring in under-23 teams from CONCACAF so theyd have a chance at winning anything.

CONCACAF was the one to gave them said order, CONMEBOL had nothing to do with it.

But let's play your game

93' squad: average age 27, no players under 23
95' squad: average age 27, 2 players under 23
97' squad: average age 24, 6 players under 23
99' squad: average age 25, 4 players under 23
01' squad: average age 25, 5 players under 23
04' squad: average age 27, no players under 23
07' squad: average age 26, 3 players under 23

Sorry but Mexico fanboys always make bullshit excuses whenever they disappoint on the Copa America and the World Cup.

Nothing to brag about as the score more or less had not much to do with the Mexico team being able to play well but rather with Chile not able to get the ball on the net.

How is it a bullshit excuse? We had to send an under 22 team + 5 overage players (and Gio). 8 players from the original u22 squad that beat Ecuador, Bolivia, and tied Columbia were suspended. We replaced them with part of our u20 squad and the 5 overage players weren't originally called up for the Gold Cup. Mier, Reynoso, and Aguilar were called up after the 5 gold cup players were suspended.

Argentina ruins everything for us...

: (

Copa America 07, World Cup 06 & 10.

Bullshit excuse? :lol

This is the first time this team has ever played with each other and many of their players have 0 caps with the First team.

And Mexico has faired well in Copa America and CONEMBOL in general. 7 appearances, 2 finals, and 3 third place finishes.

Head to Head record vs CONEMBOL:

Winning Record
Mexico vs Bolivia- 8 wins 1 loss 1 draw
Mexico vs Chile- 13 wins 8 losses 3 draws
Mexico vs Colombia- 12 wins 7 losses 10 draws
Mexico vs Ecuador- 11 wins 2 loss 5 draws
Mexico vs Paraguay- 7 wins 4 losses 5 draws
Mexico vs Peru- 11 wins 8 losses 6 draws
Mexico vs Uruguay- 7 wins 4 losses 7 draws
Mexico vs Venezuela- 10 wins 1 loss 3 draws

Even
NONE

Losing Record
Mexico vs Argentina- 4 wins 12 losses 11 draws
Mexico vs Brazil- 9 wins 20 losses 6 draws

I don't know what the fuck are you trying to get at, especially when out of all the times you mentioned we've gone to the semis six times.

But you know, this topic is already boring. Today, Chile won, and that's all. No matches til Wednesday.

I wouldn't go that far. We only won the Gold Cup. Hardly a major tournament.

The only real barometre we have for that is previous Copa América appearances, where Mexico has always been a protagonist. The current Mexican side is one full of promise, so it's not too difficult to imagine we would make a good splash with our A team.

So? Chile is just a joke at soccer, just like Mexico, Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru, etc.

Maybe historically, but Chile was awesome during the last qualifiers. Imo you just had really bad luck in the World Cup -Spain followed by Brazil is overkill.

True. tbh, why do we even watch any games that don't involve Spain, Brasil, Argentina, Germany, Netherlands, etc. It's all a joke anyway.

2010 world cup Argentina 3, Mexico 1. Two of those goals were in the first 33 minutes. Never forget.

How can we forget. First the offside goal, then the piece of shit Osorio fuck up. Before that the Maxi goal. Fuck our lives. Damn you Argentina.

Valencia injures ankle

Antonio Valencia limped out of Ecuador’s opening Copa America game against Paraguay on Sunday.

The Reds winger suffered a sprained left ankle (the same one he seriously injured last season) and was forced off at half-time in a match that ended 0-0 despite featuring plenty of goalmouth action.

Ecuador manager Reinaldo Rueda felt his players had come in for some rough treatment and called for greater protection from referees.

"The referees must take care of this situation because it [the injury] happened in the first half and [Antonio] was no longer the same," Rueda said. "He could not stand or walk on it and we had to make a change.

“It's a shame because we all know the process he went through to be here.”

Valencia, who missed almost six months of the 2010/11 campaign with an ankle injury sustained in September, is now a doubt for Ecuador’s next Copa America fixture, against Venezuela on Saturday 9 July.

FUUUUUUUUUUUU

Lol @ judging a whole match just by looking at the score. Come on...

Chile was clearly superior and could've won by 3 goals at least.
