If you choose to do it this time, don't be like me and play it with headphones in the dark at 3 AM.

oh my god... >_<

Finally finished installing. Need to get some of this work done and then I'll be scot-free.
I need to try it in the dark sometime. Wanted to, but figured I'd get a headache really fast from eye strain, so playing in the middle of the night after everyone had gone to bed with headphones had to do. It was still plenty good enough though, it wasn't *scary* when playing it but I did hear things going to the bathroom sometimes.

Also the opening scene
was such a surprise. Wasn't expecting any post-true end stuff until the final chapter. So sad ;_;

God dammit Seiko.

I saw that death coming a mile away. Right after you save her too... Sachiko, you're sick. ;_;

So do you need a full CP1 save file to unlock whatever is in this, or just a save file with one of the final chapter endings in CP1 done?

Try to make it chapter 3.

Chapter 3 is amazing in the dark with headphones.

If by "amazing" you mean "hahaha, I want you guys to be freaked out of your minds!" (I haven't gotten there yet.)

The voice acting in this is pretty good, btw. Varion wasn't kidding with regards to the binaural audio being used much better in this game than it was in the first.

...I'm going to stop playing soon because I don't want play this in the dark, and then cap off my day with happy Persona 4:Golden.

Man, I just barely managed to get this installed before leaving for the airport and now I'm sitting here waiting for my flight, wondering if it would be wrong to subject the people sitting next to me on the plane to this. If only I had a window seat! *shakes fist*

Cleared Chapter 2. I'm missing the last two bad ends in it though... Guess I'll have to dig further.

This theme of
characters who died in the first game trying to escape fate only to die an even worse death
is something that's going to leave me in pieces by the end of it.

Edit: Got the actual game over screen while looking for said bad ends. I literally had my head under the covers in the darkness cause its cold in here. CREEPY AS HELL.

Mayu was so nice too ;_; Considering she got probably the least development out of all the characters in the original I ended up really liking her character by the end... and then of course she has to die. Again.

Book of Shadows is seriously the writer making up for lost time with Sachiko, making her as crazy as possible because he couldn't for most of the original.

Still remember my horror when I watched Smile Precure and realised that the mascot character that's supposed to be cute is voiced by Sachiko. I couldn't trust the thing for quite a while because of that voice.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
This game seems to have a handful of (not a big spoiler i think since I'm only in the 2nd chapter)
lesbian interests, I thought Saeko was just fooling around in the last game. Heh.

I thought it was fairly obvious that Seiko had a ladyboner for Naomi in the first game.

Anyone knows if there's a list describing how you get all the endings? First chapter was pretty straight forward, but remembering Corpse Party 1 it can be tricky to get every ending.

Just started the game on the train this morning, awesome opening cutscene. Started the first episode, during the
bath
scene someone sat next to me, so I quickly hid my vita in my bag :D a pain because I really want to play ;;

God I can't even imagine playing a game like this on the train with people next to me of all places. So much atmosphere ruined.

It's really not that bad at all, big headphones, i'm in my own world. But put two young girls on the screen
bathing each other
and i'll be looking over my shoulder even if i'm home alone :D

I hate horror.

Why am I reading this thread and wanting to play the games?

I hate you guys.

This game just sucks us in! I'd never been a fan of horror before Corpse Party, but now I go out of my way to watch horror movies (The Thing) and play horror games (Fatal Frame). Not sure what it is about Corpse Party that got me hooked, though!

I know I'm late but yeah, he wasn't kidding.

I played this chapter in broad daylight and this chapter scared the shit outta me.

This game is scarier than the first but at the same time, much more linear than the first.

My first jump scare was definitely in Chapter 1, I think people know what part.

My god at that ending.

I dread Chapter 2's.

God, I love videogame horror. It's the perfect amount of sensory atmosphere and immersion to make you feel like everything is happening directly to you.

This is so good, I don't want it to ever end.

Gonna start chapter 3 tonight.

If anyone has hints as to Chapter 2's last two wrong ends, I'll take 'em!

Am I the only one who thinks
that the school has stopped being as crazy as it was before with all the changing and chaos? It feels like it's calmed down a bit. This is a bad thing, as now it's setting elaborate and long traps to kill people who have died already. Sachiko has made my shit list.

In addition, it seems that
if I recall the first game correctly, the school is incredibly tough, but it still seems to have an element of fairness. I think it always leaves at least one possible way out if everyone does certain things, and if someone dies, it changes so there is always one way or at least one chain of events going. The first two chapters of BoS might not be relevant, since they already died once and that was their shot, but I think if you follow the right path, the school WILL try to make sure there is at least some path you can follow. I just get that feeling.

It's not as scary as the first one in all honesty. It makes up for it in "Holy shit!" moments and FIERY RAGE though. Great game so far, just cleared chapter 2.

Aha, I think I found a hint to those Chapter 2 wrong ends, and also helped realizing what exactly Darkening does. Thanks to the XSeed website:

Your character will encounter corpses (both fully intact and otherwise), crazed writings, malevolent spirits, booby traps, hordes of insects and innumerable other horrors within Corpse Party: Book of Shadows' many cursed grounds. Each time something truly frightening is experienced, your Darkening meter (visible on the ∆ button menu) will be raised. As it climbs closer and closer to 100%, distortions begin to appear on the screen, growing in intensity and increasing in number as the Darkening takes hold of your mind.

Once your Darkening has passed certain thresholds, your characters may begin to lose their ability to reason, causing them to see and react to the environment differently than they otherwise would.

Gonna re-do Chapter 2 with high Darkening to see if I can nab what I missed.

Argh, I'm stuck already on Chapter 1. I picked up the flashlight and have no idea where to go.

Edit: oops, never mind. I can imagine myself getting stuck like this a lot though.

The last two wrong ends in chapter 2 are probably the hardest to get in the game, actually. The key is NOT to pick up the notebook when you see it. Just... ignore the sparkly light, leave it there and continue on your way.

For a while, the chapter will progress as normal, but eventually things will take a VERY different turn.

I got them earlier. I was actually doing the high darkening at the same time, but I raised it TOO high so I game over'd when
the timed segment starts after you try to cross the gap and Nana gets sliced.
Confused the hell out of me cause of how abruptly it ended, but I put two and two together and realized that the cutscenes can increase my Darkening.

The sparkly you have to leave behind isn't the notebook though, it's
the paper charm you get from the spirit you help! You can use it up later to dodge Ryou if you select him, so that's actually a pretty well hidden Wrong End since it made me think the charm was irrelevant.

Starting Chapter 3 now. Sitting in the dark, this better be as creepy as you promised!

Depends on whom you ask. I know some people who haaaate chapter 3 and think it's awful... but personally, I got incredibly creeped out playing it in the dark. It had the feel of a good ghost story by the fire on Halloween night.

Good luck. ;)

I liked Chapter 3! I actually cleared it in one go, I didn't think those Wrong Ends were at all possible until I started getting them on purpose. Headphones made the chapter EXTRA creepy.
Like Mother like Daughter.
I kinda wanted Satoshi to acknowledge the bruise on Yui's arm, just because because they go through the trouble of showing the player that it's still there many years later.

I'll say it (major spoiler)
starts out really slow and draggy from the start till the old lady part. It gets better when she arrives at the school at 7PM. Although even that part can still be polarizing because there's no gameplay element at all.

FYI, I did find Chapter 3 the scariest but as I said in the spoiler, I think those are my complaints.

Uh, so can we import a Corpse Party save at a later point or does it need to be done when loading the game for the first time? I curse my lack of foresight for not transferring my PSP save earlier.

(speaking of which, if someone could direct me to a guide on how to transfer a PSP save to the Vita, it'd be much appreciated!)

Edit: I know you can still get 100% without it so I guess I'll just go ahead for now anyway. Too impatient!

I'm not sure but the game asked me if I wanted to search for a Corpse Party save when I booted up for the first time.
Here is the save transfer thing:

Thanks! It gave me the prompt, too. Just not sure if it'll prompt you if you've already got a save for BoS. There isn't any "load Corpse Party data" option that I can see anywhere
It asked me every single time I booted up the Japanese version. Still does, and I can't see any reason they'd remove that from the English version so... I've got one, just it's from the download version and my Book of Shadows is the UMD Version so I can't use it ;_;
