Cronos: The New Dawn |OT| Survive The Future. Salvage The Past.

Many PS4 & PS5 games use the lightbar for health. Yeah it's a cool feature, especially if the game has minimal hud or you want to turn it off.

Bloober did it with Silent Hill 2 remake as well.
This is cool stuff, I only bring out the DualSense when playing games with actual support for the triggers at least or haptic mostly in the official PS games, but never noticed the led like that before.

Anyway.. I've been wandering around for a while now in the steel factory part, and this is just pure Mars level from Doom vibe on top of all the other influences that were already mentioned. And not to mention the seeing only where flashlight is pointed in the pure darkness also brings back some serious good old Doom3 memories.

For anyone playing on PC, how are you guys doing it, M+K or controller?

Steam says devs recommend this be played with a controller, so did that, couldn't without aim assist on medium, I mean I could, but far from the precision of M+K and it's no fun. Problem is, with aim assist it becomes a bit trivial, I mean, not easy, but more like: "oh, another fight section, let's just get it over with".

i was looking forward to this but then found out there's no difficulty settings and this is a Dark Souls clone have fun gaf
Calling a game a Dark Souls clone because it lacks difficulty settings isn't accurate. Difficulty alone or a lack of difficult options, does not make something a souls-like.

I can't think of any reason to go with a controller over m&k. Silent Hill 2 played better with m&k.

Controller aiming is a learned skill. Most of us honed those skills on Timesplitters back in the day.

Traveling back in time. Love the vibe. I felt save there for a moment but then I followed the damn cat

All the naysayers arguing that this game isn't hard are full of shit. The game objectively allows for wayyy less margin of error than RE or Dead Space or Silent Hill.

I'm not complaining though. I'm actually really liking the difficulty so far. Makes every encounter that much more intense.

I'm only about 6 hours in though. We'll see if it goes from fun to frustrating as I continue on.

Absolutely beautiful on my PC as well. Some of my shots:

Always controller for these kind of games, basically anything non FPS. I just love the extra immersion and feedback from controller vibrations, and then I can always grab the mouse for a moment when in any case when shit gets real.. though I didn't touch it yet for this one.

Agent_4Seven Agent_4Seven do you see what I mean now with my scale?

People have been told this game is dark souls hard lmfao and it isn't even remotely there. Silksong is harder than this.

RE4 on hard difficulty is harder than this.

This game is dead space on normal equivalent but folks will dismiss it because of this insane fixation with gamers, reviewers, journalists, YTers, etc all calling something a souls like hard game the second they die once.

Exactly, this is nowhere near anything hardcore. Tough? Yes, sometimes here and there , but still I just keep stacking spare ammo in the box intentionally and still no different at all from all the other games in the genre with normal/standard difficulty.

this is why demos and games being on Game Pass helps so people don't waste their money on stuff they think is too hard.

Seeing people diving in and enjoying this while I can't proceed /got stuck due to a game stopping bug really grinds my gears, I spent 60€ for this, can I please play the game that I paid for Bloober you incompetent hacks ?

No hyperbole, I've been playing games since the 80's and this is the first time that I had something like this happen and frankly, I find it inexcusable, what am I to do now, restart the game (7 hours in) with the hope it doesn't happen again ? Wait for who knows how long until Bloober patches it ? I mean, there are others having the same EXACT bug in the same exact spot and guess what, there are also other spots in the game where you can get locked out from proceeding (not gonna mention the levels for spoiler reasons) ffs...

I'm both angry and disappointed, angry 'cause I've spent money for a product that I can't consume (literally) and disappointed 'cause I was really enjoying the game so far.

PS : not gonna mention any names but, c'mon boys, ease up on those spoiler locations, game came out 2 days ago not everyone finishes games in 24 hours, just put a spoiler tag on that shit.

This sucks. Hopefully they notice and patch it. I'd probably keep trying to glitch past it. Restarting the game 7 hours deep is soul crushing.

That was a nice little jump scare and loud WTF from my mouth. Mom came from other room asking what happened lol. This game is damn good old school stuff.

Lmao this very jump scare got me good. It legitimately had me Hank Hill-ing.

That sucks, man. Not sure exactly what your bug is, or what you've tried, so I wanted to pass this along: I had a bug where the level didn't load in, and The Traveler fell through the world. I thought it was a game-ender. As a hail Mary, I set graphics to "Low" and let a cutscene play out instead of inputting a choice, and no bug after that. I also ran into a moveable cabinet that wouldn't move all the way back, blocking progression. Turns out there was debris/a piece of an enemy seemingly blocking it and using a Torch on it made it go away and I could get by.

Where'd you buy it from? If you've hit a game breaking bug you may very well be able to get it refunded.

I'm in the steel mill or whatever it is, and it's getting hard to keep going. The combat and inventory management are really distracting from the actually good parts of the game, namely the atmosphere and art design. Any time the game throws more than a couple enemies at you, the poor camera and clunky movement start to become a real problem. At least in SH2 I could get around the terrible combat by simply turning down the difficulty, but here you're often forced to engage with it.

I don't agree, combat feels good especially charged shots and I like inventory management because to me that what great survival horror game is all about.

To me the difficulty and struggling to survive is what brings atmosphere and horror alive.

How are people getting physical copies so early? Everywhere I check shows it releasing on the 19th.
I actually I canceled my order for physical copy and just got digital copy.

I usually always waits for physical copy but I feel like I'm gonna get spoiled before 19th and Trails of the Sky 1st Chapter also coming on 19th, so want either finish Cronos or at least get far enough so I can put more time on Trails game……also not to mention FF Tactics and Silent Hill f is coming close after it.

For me this Sep it's crazy packed with games I like.

The inventory management I think it's just not to your liking, this is how these survivals are, sure there may be a bit tweaked as pretty much all are the same, but I like it.

What I agree with you is the combat. I just don't really like it, IMO it's inferior to Dead Space and the RE series.
It's a bit too clunky as you said and I feel I die a bit too easily, I mean there is very little room for error, especially when facing multiple enemies. Even if survival, I think death in 2 hits is a bit much, IDK maybe I'm wrong and that's the way and the upgrades really matter.

Thanks guys.
Bought the game on Friday on PSN, stopped playing Saturday evening due to this fookin' bug

Same thing (but in reverse) happens when I load my previous save (which is an autosave)

Tried everything (trying to backpedal through the broken texture like someone else suggested, reloading x100 times, deleting saves like someone on steam suggested) and NOTHING works

For those that have reached the Steelworks, be CAREFUL 'cause there's ANOTHER game stopping bug there...

Again, Bloober once more show how technically incompetent they are, I mean, this is a linear AF game, imagine them trying to pull off an open world RPG with actual questlines etc, Bethesda ain't got nothing in them...

Again, I'm incredibly disappointed since I don't know if these kind of bugs can be fixed retroactively, something tells me that i'llhave to restart the game anyway...

Update : tried it and it didn't work, not only that but, upon reloading an autosave from 1 hour earlier...the fucking texture is now there which impedes me from actually ENTERING the room - I'm basically locked now and can't advance through the game, great job Bloober, great job you incompetent hacks...

I don't know if I even have the strength to restart the whole game now since the constant scanning of the environments (for materials/logs/etc) is exhausting.

This is the last time I'm getting a game on day1, fook this shit...
I have a habit of having at least three separate save slot files that I progressively overwrite during the course of the game, something to consider if you decide to play again

They should've not given any review codes to some of the reviewers, journalists and influencers. Clearly they don't understand shit about Cronos, and cuz of this the game is losing sales and getting a bad rap for things it's not even doing and never meant to do.
For me reviewers doesn't make any difference to me, I played games long enough to know if the game is for me or not regardless what "score" it gets from so called "professional" reviewers.

Never noticed anything on my runs, I just clocked 40 hours for the plat... what issues did you see?
Have you been living in a cave, SH2 on performance mode for Pro was straight up broken, loads of flickering and artificating etc. They removed the PSSR version as a fix because they couldn't fix it. The base performance mode compared to quality mode is pretty terrible. Luckily the game is a lot of walking with slow combat, so playing on quality mode @30fps is not so bad.

Yeah, but a game being for you and the game being good based on some objective points is different, no? I mean, all games should be scored by some metric where our preferences should not matter that much.

I see this with all games, some are excused from a gameplay perspective because the story is good or criticized in spite of good gameplay because of bad story or whatnot.
We as gamers sometimes take it too personally and get subjective.

Not that I excuse the influencers or some YT reviewers, most of these suck hard, but some of them are still professional and score the game objectively.
I like the game, but I can understand and see the faults it has.

I think we're reaching the point where broken ass games just seem normal to most people

Papi why don't you contact Bloober Team and tell them your problem? I am sure they can help you.

Another thing, what is the bug or issue that you are having? Why dont you load an older save and try again? Sometimes bugs get fixed by going back to a previous save

They are useless either way.

For me, if a game is 8/10, any score lower or higher is inaccurate.

Especially if the reviewer convinces me to play a game I should've skipped or made me skip something I would have enjoyed immensely.

It definitely could benefit from a dodge button

Reviews for most part very subjective, for example some reviewers might not like the difficulty in this game but I do.

Reviews are nothing more than someone else opinion. Maybe something reviews might find it as negative pint but me personally find it positive point.

It'll turn into a cult hit like Alien Isolation.
