Cronos: The New Dawn sold 200k copies at launch.

everything ive seen of it looked bang average which is par for the course for bloober original IPs, will get it on sale or if it comes to game pass but im in no rush.

- It's been three days since the game's out (apart from the early access).
- This is without the sold physical copies.

The game's also made with a relatively low budget, so thankfully it won't need to sell much to be profitable.

It's a very good game. I think I'll finish it today or tomorrow. But unfortunately, sales aren't very high. I found the marketing weak, and the release of Silksong also overshadowed the game

I mean the game was officially released 3 days ago. I'd probably talk about sales maybe after a week or two? I don't know how long comments like this should be held off for though.

I don't see the proof that Silksong damaged this game's sales. They are different genres.

Yes, but the first few days are already indicators of how a product will sell long-term before it goes on sale, and for a company, day-one sales are certainly more important.

I don't think Silksong and Cronos have the same target audience, but it certainly influences sales a lot.

I'm anticipating an October bump, same with Silent Hill F.

And the high amount of youtubers/streamers who do "Spooky Month" streams will show off both, which will create an interest bump.

I rarely buy games at full price, but I did for this. Whatever genre you want to call Dead Space/modern Resident Evil/Silent Hill 2 remake is my favorite, depending on the day.

Cronos is a good-nearly-great version of that. It's certainly better than Callisto Protocol and the recent Alone in the Dark reboot/remake.

But, yeah, I had little hype for Cronos myself, and it was Bloober's recent success with SH2 that got me to bite. If I weren't plugged in and a member of this wonderful forum, I don't know if I'd even know Cronos existed. Not a lot of mass marketing.

I'll get to you eventually Cronos, I picked up MGS3 Delta instead because I missed it the first time around.
I'm not a huge fan of Kojima, but I'm having good fun with it. It's like a completely mental over the top spy drama that is one step removed from Austin Powers parody levels.
I didn't really like MGS2 so I am pleasantly surprised with this one.

Here's hoping it has long legs, game is actually really good. It's not very "scary", less so than Dead Space is. But Cronos has a really cool vibe. The visual style and the music is really cool. Also the story setup is very intriguing. Combat can be tough but now that I get it, it has gotten way easier.

Bought it but haven't been able to play yet. No gaming this week.

I hope it ends up having legs and gets a boos for Halloween/fall. These weeks being dominated by Silksong can't help so I'm curious to see if it comes around. Even if the game is maybe a 7, I think they absolutely deserve some solid sales. They have an incredibly good art and sound department and SH2R alone was a shocking step up.

I'm rooting for these bros. Kurwa mac if not!

Sorry, too much games

I bought this and Silent Hill f on PSN. I'd say if you could only pick 1 survival horror, more than likely you'd go with Silent Hill just cause of the reputation of the franchise. As games get more and more expensive, you'd think launch week wouldn't be an ideal time to look at like it use to be. Considering real life bills and stuff come up. Plus all those survival horror fans waiting for the right time to pick it up. I thought long and hard about this month especially with FFT coming out at the end of the month.

Even dead space remake sold like shit.

Good games are dead.
No, that just the case of survival horror dont have mass appeal, EA wasn't happy with original Dead Space sales numbers and they try to force the mass appeal on the series which killed the IP.

Only Resident Evil series make sales high numbers.

Silksong annihilated this game on all platforms
Not fair

Silksong is a whole generation announcement before, and also, sequel for one of the greatest indie games ever

Would be too much of luck to even sell great this year, and from a team that historical launches 7/10 games... Too much to ask even

The combat so far is just okay, but the atmosphere and story have me hooked. Hopefully it continues to get the love it deserves. September is a bit crazy for releases, I get they want to avoid the seasonal stuff but this could have easily be delayed to Halloween or something.

I think with Dead Space Remake we got a combination of two factors - the remake probably cost a lot of money (because of high labor costs in Canada) and EA was still expecting it will sell millions of copies just like the new RE remakes. Many people didn't see the differences at first glance other than the graphics, you had to actually play the new version to appreciate things like a brand new system of travelling between areas and being able to return to them.

It's great, I hope sales pick up, so far as I can tell it needs about 600-700k units to break even. So fingers crossed it has a strong long tail like remedy's games.

This is a great example of game development done right, tight budget control with an interesting original IP, so the u don't need crazy sales to break even, but even after all that gamers just aren't showing up in numbers. It's sad.

Other than RE no survival horror can sell that much copy.

I don't think most people here get this. The Board announced these numbers because these are very good numbers. 3 days, digital only. Barring SH2, probably the best and fastest selling game for BT - but here they self-published so all revenue goes straight to them, not a publisher.
I know we as gamers tend to compare numbers to numbers but this is a new IP and was made in Poland, not US or Canada.

So, not nearly enough to break even, even though the game was fairly cheap to develop.
It's only been a few days since release though so I think it's too soon to worry about it.
Let's hope it keeps steadily selling until it turns a profit.

Very, very early to call.

With October halloween horror season coming up, multiple steam sales on the horizon and a jam packed year they probably will do another chunk of sales before the year is out.

Unfortunately traditional surival horror games outside of the nostalgia series like Resi and SH they don't sell well.

It doesn't need to break even day 1. I would be surprised if Bloober even expected that.

I hope it does well, the game is really solid….it barrows idea from other games but at same time the atmosphere and entire art direction is vey unique.

It had weak marketing, this is the Hollow Knight's sequel month, and we can't forget a new "Silent Hill" is gonna appear very soon. This isn't surprising. Also, we and game companies should stop thinking about getting sales closer to a RE game. No survival horror has archieved that, even in the genre's golden age.

About Dead Space remake, I wouldn't be surprised if EA was really meant to release just a single remake (the most successful Dead Space entry) and nothing more, like they said. There weren't signs about the company changing a single bit. You know, the same company that killed the franchise and its developer. The same that had Dead Space, Mirror's Edge and Dragon Age: Origins and still ruined everything.

Anyway, indie survival horror games are doing fine, and being far more confident in its own potential than high budget ones, so I'm not worry about the genre's current health. And about Chronos, sales don't end at launch, specially when, again, another more famous IP is getting most of attention.

Positive word of mouth should hopefully keep sales trickling in. Either way, I'll be adding to that number myself, probably around Halloween.
I didn't think about this: a rise of sale numbers can perfectly happen around Halloween. Even it's true Tormented Souls 2 is around the corner, horror games usually gain a boost in October. More reasons to think Chronos sales won't end here. How much? We'll see...

Unless you're Resident Evil, survival horror titles don't generally sell all that well, relatively speaking.

If you're doing 2m+ copies, then you're doing very well in that genre. Most games are also heavily front-loaded. If it's doing 200k copies in the first weekend, then you'll be struggling to sell a million in your first year.

This has the misfortune of launching alongside Silksong, so any traction it may have gained off good online word of mouth was completely lost.
