Will be fantastic, fuck the haters.
Been following this since it was first whispered, glad to see who is involved and I have no problem with it being straight to video because it lets it be made without having to be compromised to satisfy studio bullshit.

The trailer fills me with warm fuzzy feelings so I ordered the Blu-Ray boxset from amazon that contains this and all the others. $60 ain't bad at all.

His face looking different shot to shot would bother me more if it hadn't been pretty common throughout the series. I'd love them to nail it down in one of them, but they never do.

And yeah, this is a sequel and a reboot in one. This new family are either related to Andy, or potentially Charles himself, given that the aunt is played by Brad Dourif's daughter Fiona.

This sequel is stand alone and has no connection with the other movies; there will be an actual remake of the first movie, which will be theatrical.

makes good threads.
Trailer looks better than I thought for a DTV horror sequel. Then again trailers can be very deceptive.

I wonder if Kevin Yagher is still doing all the doll effects in this one. I like the new look but it's missing those "Crypt Keeper" eyes.

Also wonder it Chucky will go under some kind of deformation like he did at the end of the first three films. I always thought the doll looked creepiest after it got burned or half his face has been chopped off.

I like how they made him look like a doll but if you look at some of the other parts in the trailer he looks different, like hes turning more human, just like the originals. Hope its decent.

Now that is some crazy talk
Really?
2-curse-of-chucky.jpg
REALLY?
Is it crazy talk? No, no it's not.

His look changes about 30 times in the trailer, he looks fucking terrible and not menacing or terrifying at all.. He looks like a syfy original rip-off.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jason, Exorcism, etc...

These movies have to stop coming out and being re-released with the exact same shitty plots and shitty acting on an annual bases. Just stop with the shit already. This movie is not going to make shit at the box office.

This isn't the 80's anymore. You can't make a doll murderer scary nowadays. Come on now.

Worse than CGI Yoda.
Think about this statement.
I am not saying that it is not jarring, but worse than CGI Yoda it is not.

Well fuck a doodle doo, I guess we are fortunate that it is not being released for the box office as has been covered a few times aren't we?
Annual basis? Do you know when the last Child's Play movie was? Or for that matter Friday the 13th (Jason as you call it) ?

I agree about the eyes.
Those cold glass/plastic doll eyes have a creepy effect that I think every kid knows (that was a kid in the 80s and before, maybe very early 90s) that sticks with you as an adult

Most horror franchises were never big money makers. They are done cheap and they easily recoup their costs. Some do better than others but they don't usually go in expecting huge success. They keep making them because they do make money.

Im eager to see this... trailer and premise seem ok and im glad they are acting as though Bride and Seed never occurred (although I did enjoy Bride!). The series was always best at mild humor and horror first. Nightmare on Elm Street took the same comedic turn for the worst.

I actually like the new look, at least a couple of them are creepy lol. It is indeed odd how he has different faces in some places of the trailer, that immediately sticks out.

Crave Online also reviewed

I knew going in the idea was to scale back the funny Chucky, at least by comparison to Bride of and Seed of Chucky, but even in the so-called “scary” original he was still witty. I mean, it was the ‘80s. I would say Chucky’s one-liners are even more macabre in Curse than they were in Child’s Play...

Curse of Chucky does things I’ve wanted the series to do since Child’s Play 2 and 3...

I know why his look changes so much.
he's wearing a mask to cover his face/scars

I read a few reviews and it seems like it's back to its horror roots and has a lot of content related to the older films. I don't watch too many movies, but this one looks to be decent.

The inconsistency in Chucky's look could be that they are using CGI Chucky along with two chucky doll models: one with the innocent static face and the other with his evil face for close ups.

Child's Play 2 was the best, IMHO.

Just finished watching the unrated version on itunes. I give it a B+. It goes back to the horror roots, with no real comedy like the last two films, it's very dark, and it explains a lot to the series. A must watch if you're a fan IMO.

The plot was pretty good. It took a while to build up to the meltdown, which was satisfying.

There are some good scenes and there's also a few I think the CGI doesn't match the set real well.

Chucky's voice this time around is dark, like get it done and over with (like he's done this a few times). The end credits scene added a lot to the film too, so don't miss that.

If anything they need a revamp/remake or do more with ending credit scene.

Just watched it, myself. Apart from CGI Chucky looking like absolute shit, I thought it was the best Chucky movie since #2.

Some other things:
Did I miss something, but did Tiffany possess Jennifer Tilly in Seed of Chucky? Granted, I don't remember much from that one, as I find it horrible. I was a bit disappointed she even appeared in the movie, but it was only a small part, so I can deal with it. It is a sequel, after all, so they have to acknowledge her, I guess.

And the after credits scene is amazing!
I did actually recognize the actor before they confirmed it was Andy.

It's already out?
The first one was the only one good, and it wasn't even that good, but I still watched them all. Gonna watch this too tonight maybe.

I liked it a lot. It was a lot of fun and the story was surprisingly really good. The kills were also pretty damn brutal for the most part.

CGI... Why? D:

In the trailer the doll looked right as they oepned the box, but the more we saw, the worse it looked. Hopes for this are low, very low.

Will definitely check this out. Killer Doll can still be scary if done right... Should I watch it with my 6 yo nephew? :D

I have it pre-ordered on Bluray. I can't wait! I really wish they did a limited theatrical run though. There's nothing like a good horror film on opening night.

Yes,
because her eyes had the same glow (she was possessed in the hospital)
Stuff I don't understand is
how does Chucky go see Andy when he was doing his chant to the girl at the end? What was the purpose of the chant? Why doesn't Chucky have blood?

Ganon; rated R movies are for 17 years or older. So No.

Thanks for the clarification! About the end:
The chant probably went awry, remember, the grandma was still alive, so she probably has something to do with that. They can tell that story in a sequel, I guess. And Chucky not being 'alive' in his body bothered me as well. They made that a huge point in all the films: if Charles Lee Ray stays too long in the doll, it will eventually become human.

Saw it, loved it, I give it a A-, I loved the nods to the original film sprinkled throughout the film. Hell, even the
backstory gave me chills seeing the toy shop again and Brad Douriff playing Charless Lee Ray

And it DOES take place after seed of chucky. At one point, he mentions how
families have come and past and mentions people from bride and seed

As for the
transformation chant not working, the grandma probably disrupted him as he was saying the chant and thus, sets up the sequel!
.

Interesting to hear such positive impressions.

I'll have to give it a watch at some point. After Seed, it's all gotta be uphill. Right?

What an awesome fucking sequel. This should have been in theaters dammit. Don Mancini LEVELED up as a director. This movie had outstanding suspense set-pieces like
the whole poisoned soup scene. Dat russian roulette overhead of the table blew my mind.
It's everything Mancini said it would be. A return to the horror roots, with barely any humor. The one-liners we do get are pretty mean-sprited haha (
You're the last one standing...so to speak
). The film milks it's awesome setting for all it's worth, the final girl is a fascinating and lovable chick and goddamn, the side characters were pretty damn great too. Barb the sister in particular (
I was hoping like crazy that she was having a lesbian affair with the hot nanny and Mancini DELIVERED!
). And man, dat pratical gore. Film was strewn with cool-ass kills with slick build-ups. I LOVED the flick treated Chucky with respect as a horror icon. It made him scary again. And Chucky was goddamn oldschool. I don't think it's a spoiler to say he's alive hahaha. It was great to see that they even used a small person actor like in the original movie at times.

And as a major fan of the series, all the references to past movies made my freaking week. My favorite has to be
the voodoo knife from the original! Hell yes!

As for the complaints about Chucky's face in the film:
It's a part of the story. He eventually looks like he usually does

Enjoyed the hell out of it, a worthy sequel. A few good laughs, but it's more down to earth than Seed's over the top goofiness. Some really good gore effects, too. Glad they chose to do this over rebooting the franchise. And man, those last ten minutes. Wow. Never would have expected that.

Tiffany coming back, basically doing the scene from beginning of Bride. Nice cameo from Jennifer Tilly and makes the assumption that Chucky and his 'real' family have made amends. To be honest though, it's was all about Andy coming back for me. That post-credit scene should have been the last thing in the movie, not the follow up with the little girl.
