I really enjoyed it! Definitely better than the last couple of films (in the horror sense. I still enjoy Bride and Seed). I agree about Don Mancini. His work here looks a lot better than in Seed. The downside of the movie IMO was that it was clear they had a small budget. Chucky's animation was not very fluid and yeah, they only filmed in the house minus a couple of scenes. Most of the budget must have gone in
getting Jennifer Tilly back.
Seriously that was a nice surprise! My roomate was talking about how
the scene with the cop in the car looked way too similar to the one in Bride and a second later Tiffany showed up.
It bothered me that the kid seemed so dumb. Andy was younger than her (right?) and he was more aware of what was going on.
Also ditto about the comments about Chucky not bleeding and stuff. We don't know how long he has been in that body though... the whole movie happens in the span of a day.
The scene after the credits.
I, too, recognized the actor and giggled like a little girl the second he appeared on screen. I hope there's a sequel to this (with a bigger budget) and not a reboot!
The first hour was the most boring piece of crap I ever saw. The CGI chucky was even worse than I expected from the trailers. That thing didn't even look like Chucky.
I wanted to stop watching but my wife said: Just finish it..it's only 30 more minutes. And I am happy I did. It doesn't become a good movie...but at least stuff happens... and they use a doll instead of CGI. There was a bit of a Child's Play vibe going on.
The cameo before the end was fun, the cameo after the titles even better.
After seen this, I do think the whole murderous doll thing is 'done'. I can not imagine how they will make the idea of Chucky fresh and scary again. The climax was Child's Play 2 (which was 23 years ago) and since that it was just cashing in on a well known character. I really wonder how they want to reboot this. I'll watch it, but my expectations are low.
That was pretty fucking good for a direct to video horror film. I definitely recommend it if you are a fan of the series. The face didn't always look right, but it wasn't as bad as in the trailers.
I kinda liked it, apart from 1 scene - the close up eating scene. Just what I want to watch in a movie, a close up of peoples mouths eating. Take that one section out (by all means keep the remaining meal scene) and I'd be happy.
It was a shame it broke some of the continuity of previous movies, but it wasn't that bad at all.
I think that this was a direct-to-video reboot because they were using it as a test to see how the audience would react to reboot Chucky before they go for a theatrical release. It's actually got pretty good reviews so far, so I'm going to wait until I see the movie to decide if it's a good movie or not.
