I think controller is fine for it on PC for the shooting I don't really understand the complaints but then again I kind of approach it as it's an RPG not a shooter so the level of good the shooting is is actually impressive to me.

I am left handed and a lot of base keys do not remap. So controller for me until I can remap the damn F key! Taking my hand off the mouse every 30s to open a box/door/talk is infuriating.

actually someone else had a fix for a rebinding the f key somewhere in this thread because evil lore is also left-handed. Wish I remembered what it was.

i haven't met him yet. i just done my first BD and met Judy :messenger_heart:. i guess i'll push on with the main story until I met Keanu. i feel too weak/inexperienced for a lot of stuff. my guns are doing little damage, can't win the kabuki fight, and lots of options are blocked because of low skill points.

I would wait until after Keanu before getting into the side quest stuff. Its the right time to start exploring

Aside from ray tracing, what can we realistically expect the next gen patch to bring to the table?

If I'm not getting a solid a 60fps today on XsX, how will turning the Gfx up to 11 remedy that? Even if they keep a performance mode in the next gen version, it seems like we're already seeing all of the horsepower in action right?

Or is there some secret sauce that neither the XsX or PS5 have been tapped into just yet, for this game specifically?

So there's records on the ground with it looks like Keanu on them and they have the little symbol over them like I can pick them up but I can't pick them up I'm assuming that has to do with where I am in the story like I need Keanu there to pick these up

NPC density i'd guess would be another improvement

I think this is going to be one of those games where people will need to swallow their pride & accept 30 fps is what is required to get a real "bells & whistles" next gen looking experience on consoles. With ray tracing enabled & the other stuff which makes the pc versions look wunderbar on steroids, the ps5 & series X are going to be a "let's pray for locked 30 fps" deal. Which is what Witcher 3 was on the Pro & one X, i.e. a locked 30 fps better deal than the base versions. Because the unlocked framerate (on the One X at least) didn't work.

I just realized that there is no AI for driving, at all, period. That's the reason cops spawn right behind you instead of tracking you like GTA. That's the reason you've never been in a car chase in the open world, not in a mission. That's the reason the AI stops behind you forever when you park in the middle of the road. That's the reason people don't peel away in a panic when you pull a gun on them in a car. The only driving "AI" that the game has is predetermined paths for cars to follow along.
there is also no pedestrian NPC ai. it's literally morrowind tier. they just walk from one waypoint to another
Is this accurate?

Yes, unfortunately. The game does seem to be missing a path-finding routine for vehicles outside of quest missions.

Well this is a drag. I'd say hopefully they patch in some AI but I seriously doubt they will given all of the stuff they're probably already working on fixing while the live team has probably moved onto future content.

Finished the game last night and I had a really good time. Took me about 20 hours to finish the main story but I also did one full romance quest line and a bunch of side quests so far. They did a really good job with the characters in the game they were really engaging and I found myself actually caring about what happened to some of them and not a lot of games do that for me. Story wise it was solid, some of the side stories were just as good as the main story. The ending for me was meh though didn't pay off in a way I would like but the journey there was really enjoyable. The world is beautiful, played it on PC with ray tracing and it's just amazing looking. That being said one minor downside is that it does feel like it has a sense of lifelessness to it and I kind of wish that there was more interaction with npcs and more reason to explore the world which I did spend a lot of time doing but after awhile I had enough. I still do plan on playing through things more but It would have been cool to explore and find hidden vendors with unique gear or weapons, kind of a reason to really search them map.

I also think the RPG stuff could have been a little better. I wasn't a big fan of the looter aspect I would have preferred less loot but more customization. I found often that I would get a gun that had less dps stats but did way more damage than the higher ones (dunno if this is just balancing issues) and I also found weapons I really liked using and would have preferred to customize them more and keep using them. By the end of the game I honestly didn't care what weapons I was using, I wasn't invested in them and most of the time a sniper rifle took guys out in one shot. Combat in general was decent, nothing to write home about but it did it's job. I wish stealth played a bigger role, I found it fun stealthing guys but once you get caught it feels inmpossible to hide and reset that and usually it just ends up being a guns blazing situation. I upgraded a ton of perks but again none of it really seemed to matter much in the end and I barely noticed them doing anything.

The soundtrack is amazing and an absolute banger, got you super hyped when you were in gun fights. Aside from that I did experience some bugs and glitches and while it was nothing really game breaking two of the hardest bosses just rain into a wall and stood there and even after reloading I just ended up killing them because they did it every time. I also had a few ones where npcs weren't following you to advance a quest and one time I punched a window and it shot me out of bounds lol. Overall though really solid game, I'm looking forward to going back in and cleaning up quests to see where somethings with characters go.

I guess reseting settings everytime I login is something normal right? PS5.

Yes, this is a pain in the ass. I wish the photo mode was a bit better. Its worse that the division 2 at the moment.

This game is such a solid mash of several genres and types of game. They might not have traditionally represented 'cyberpunk' but they have certainly carved out a real interesting sub RPG genre.

Well, CDPR is no stranger to using middleware (speedtree, havok, etc.) so they might just get an off-the-shelf pathfinding algorithm.

So far I've only spent less than 5 hours with the game. Playing on PC with a decent rig so I have RTX on. Definitely seeing some bugs- textures not loading, long pauses before scripted scenes start, one instance of failure for animations to load during a scripted interaction. Nothing gamebreaking but certainly a bad look. Driving control is also too sensitive with a controller so it's hard to stay on the road sometimes.

Otherwise it's a fun game. Honestly I'm pretty disappointed that the main story is only 20 hours, i think that's just equal to one Witcher 3 expansion! So, I'll be diving in to side content to extend play time. TOnight is the wife's birthday and we're moving so play time is more limited than usual, but I'll dive in balls deep next weekend.

Higher texture quality, higher resolution, and more traffic/pedestrians.

Probably a mistake to pump all my stats into intelligence and quickhacking/breach protocols. Have a really hard time stopping blue baton "crimes." I do a bunch of hacking to debuff and/or distract but I still end up having to shoot them to kill them and it takes forever.

I don't understand how people can say they played for 20 hours but also explored the game a lot and did a lot of side stufftime and I haven't even met Keanu Reeves.
I don't understand folks wondering where the bullet counter is and stop playing. I've seen that a couple times online. It's like, play more, dummy.

They skimped on actually having real NPC AI in favor of more graphical stuff, I guess. Doesn't seem likely yeah.

yeah I'm pretty sure intelligence is the stat that's easiest to just Skip and not dump anything in.

Also yeah I keep seeing people mention how they can't see an ammo counter which is something I got so early I don't even remember not having it.

It took me 20 hours to finish the game but I've put about 40 hours into the game and gone back in and explored. After you finish the game you are given the option to go back to into the world to do whatever and complete any quests you have and most of the side quests don't really influence the main story or at least not that I've seen.

Seeing the DF videos on this, PS4 really got the short end of the stick.

The game looks so much better on beefy PC hardware. ITs like night and day. I see the PC shots and I am like ok wow game looks amazing, then turn on the PS4 and am disappointed.

They would have to drastically rewrite the gunplay to accommodate a 3rd person view.

That would be a mammoth task for no ROI.
Shouldn't be at all, they can also keep 1st person for shooting, and 3rd person for melee and everything else,Jedi Knight has already did this.

The basic animation is already there (you can see from shadows), just need a bit more tweaking.

i just done the mission where you
go to the hotel and steal the chip from Arasaka. The pre release trailer was a huge spoiler because Jackie does die :(

The graphics on base PS4 are rather blurry and fuzzy as expected. But there seems to be a decent number of NPCs walking around the area where you meet Jackie at the food stand. I thought it'd be more dead.

I couldn't do much with a controller on PC, I think kb/m is vastly superior for this game. But I'm sure there's a way to dial it in better with a controller.

I saw they have dead zone settings and stuff but I didn't feel like messing with it because I was sure I would just make it worse. it's got that sort of call of duty snap to targeting as well when you go into iron sights so it's not really a big deal. I also kind of assume all the stuff gets smoother with upgrades since it's an RPG.

it is playable and there is an option for "Slow HDD" but the specs do recommend an SSD.

like that person i replied to said....it was running fine for a while so yeah it does work but it is gonna cause problems.
I'll let you know if anything happens but so far I haven't noticed anything. Like I'm kind of amazed at how well the game performs for me. I had it on ultra settings for a while but I set it down to medium just to get some more frames per second. I was actually mostly fine with the frame rate on ultra until there was a melee boss battle and the melee system isn't really that hard but it was definitely more distracting to have frame drops in a melee battle than in a shooting battle.
