Yeah /r/darksouls2 is a minefield right now. Would suggest anyone who doesn't want to get spoilerd to stay away.
Yeah, avoid it. Several people have already been banned for intentionally spoiling huge things in thread titles.

I'm getting scared to even read random youtube video comments in case something gets spoiled! :-?
I have a test this Friday and the thoughts of this game is destroying my concentration. Fuck.
Jup, out of nowhere there are spoilers everywhere. Be wary of Twitch chats as well, suddenly everybody and their mom know everything about this game.
Be careful too about YouTube and Google's auto suggest feature.I'm getting scared to even read random youtube video comments in case something gets spoiled! :-?

We're gonna do well , breh.I've got a calculus II midterm the Monday of the midnight release. I don't expect to do well.
Does anyone have experience preordering from PSN? I want to know if the game would unlock at midnight in a specific time zone or if I have to wait until the store update for that day.
If it's on Grace Chen time then I'll be better off walking in to a brick and mortar after work on Tuesday.
Everyone keeps saying DS1 was 60 hours. I'm on hour 72 of my first playthrough and I haven't gotten any souls yet for the lordvessel. I guess I suck.
This thread of hype/people fearful of the internet spoilers is pretty awesome. If the internet was a souls game this would be the nexus/firelink.
Going to hit up a few local Targets after work today. Can't wait, especially with Amazon shipment date shenanigans.
Jeff Green is like 200 hours in and has like 6 bosses left lawl.

ehhh....The Dark Souls of...
no I'm not gonna do it.
Replace the finger for the Demon Machete.
I completed Dark Souls on the PS3 without relying on any walkthroughs or guides, and never connected it to the internet. I also played through it all vanilla... without any patches. DXI am about 60-70% through Dark Souls 1, first play through. I have come to the opinion that the game would be all but impossible to complete, without the aid from external resources, online guides, forums, etc. There are too many examples to list, in which there is simply no way to progress, without such aids. However, in broad strokes -- there are critical aspects of gameplay mechanics, stats / weapon scaling, path progression, applicability and usefulness of items/armor/weapons, boss enemy combat strategies, etc., ...which, in all practicality, cannot be discovered organically within the game-world. There are so many permutations and possibilities, that (IMHO) even the most expert gamer would require several hundreds (perhaps thousands) of hours of trial-by-error testing, to weigh the relative merits and advantages/disadvantages of so many statistics, attributes and properties that are often intimately interconnected and interrelated.
I seriously question if there is any GAFer that can honestly state they have completed Dark Souls without ever appealing to an external resource for answers, guidance and/or assistance. Also, bear in mind that this criteria basically eliminates all PvP online play. So, my question reduces to the following:
Could any single individual successfully complete Dark Souls (before the Earth is rendered inhabitable by the Sun evolution on the Main Sequence) given the following constraints:
-- PvE gameplay, offline-mode exclusively
-- No access or appeal, whatsoever, to external help in any form (written, oral, online, Divine inspiration, etc.). "External" defined as anything that is not part of the game's standard documentation which ships with the game, or intrinsic to the game's programming, e.g. hints, prompts and help guide.
P.S.: This is not a criticism, per se. Dark Souls happens to be one of the very best games I have ever played.
Wohoooo!!! Back from banland just in time!!
It's been really hard staying away from any major spoilers, hope I can hold out :s
Still debating on a Knight/Swordsman startup...I wanna go Str/Dex so does it really matter?
I was going to wait for the PC release, but the chances of everything being figured out/spoiled before release were too high
So im from the EU and ive just ordered a day one edition at a webshop, says i will get it on the 11th like those in the US, anyone else from Europe with the day one steelbook edition ordered that can confirm that we do indeed get it 3 days before the official EU release date?
I know it aint called day one edition for nothing but I would like to be sure since it did cost a few euros extra.

Does it really matter in the sense of "can you do well in the game"? No, I really think it wouldn't. Does it matter in the sense of "I care a lot about three four or five (or so) stat points and it'll eat away at me"? Yes, it does.
For a str/dex non caster, bandit is the superior option by a longshot from that perspective of min max. It has the fewest points "wasted" in faith/int/attunement.
For a str focussed non caster, knight is superior.
Warrior is close behind.
Swordsman/deprived/explorer are all poor choices (again, from the perspective of min/max) for a non-casting character. Swordsman is not bad if you plan to use int at any point. If you don't, then it's a sub optimal choice.
When does the embargo for the game go up?
So glad I've been avoiding spoilers. Best part is I got all of next week off for the game.
Does anyone here own the game and is 30+ hours into it already?
I'm stuck and don't know what to do. I'm serious! =P
If so I'd love to get in touch and figure out what to do next!
PS: I'm not trying to show off, I'm genuinely stuck, around 30+ hours into the game.
