Not true from what my experience is. I've been max hollow for half the game and still see signs all over and am able to summon easily. Only put my sign down a couple times but was summoned within 20 seconds or so at a couple boss doors so I'm pretty sure that is misinformation.

Same here.

Lawd, Mound Makers are the most fun.

I was summoned to the High Wall of Lothric by somebody, upon arrival I ran up to the bonfire. The guy shoots frost bolts at me twice but I don't react and I run around in circles (which is what I try and do to signal that I'm not hostile). I think he gets it and he runs down the stairs to the bridge to kill mobs as he gets invaded by a red. I back track to the bonfire to meet Red, do my dance, and point gesture to where the host is. We run for him and back him into the shortcut room where there's a shaft. I did a heavy swing with my darksword and red Darth Mauled him down the shaft and I got my shackle.

I really need to start recording these invasions

So I somehow skipped
Farron Keep
and went (and finished?)
Cathedral of the Deep
beforehand. Being SL 45 at the time, it wasn't too much of a challenge.. well, aside from having the phantoms invade me.

I noticed a bunccchhhh of Soul Signs near the entrance of
Deacons of the Deep
boss room - would this be a good place to farm souls / sunlight medals? I'm SL 50 now, and my Heavy Broadsword does some incredible damage now that I've upgraded it, and it scales so well with strength. Can dispose of those enemies in 1-2 hits easy. I have yet to really explore
Farron Keep
, but I'd like to build up my souls and sunlight medals. Here's good, or should I go elsewhere?

Also, I just have to say... the Thorns armor set is amazing. I'm just jumping around causing damage to everyone.. It's my new favourite thing to roll at attackers.

Used my first respec to change from Dex/Faith to Dex/Luck. I'm just not feeling spells in this game really, maybe later on i'll switch back. Did I make a huge mistake?

Just a warning to PC players, if you've used any cheats (like Cheat Engine, even for fairly innocuous things like trying out different builds) you're at serious risk of getting banned.

Also, if you're using any third-party software such as DS3 tool, SCP driver, Shadowplay, Dxtory, etc. aka controller drivers that allow using different controllers on PC and recording software there seems to be a risk you could be banned. There have been many players complaining that although they've never used cheats they have been banned and it's theorised that some third-party software may result in false positives. There have even been people who have booted up the game for the first time to find they've already been banned. Right now, From Soft's anti-cheat seems to be pretty poor.

Quick question regarding the ending:

Does the wedding ending overtake any other ending? It's the one I want and after reading it appears I did all the right steps (on accident). I'm doing the optional area/bosses now and I hear they give you a different ending as well. I don't want to overwrite the wedding ending on accident.

It doesn't.
Just make sure you finished the Anri quest, don't give Eyes of a Firekeeper to the Firekeeper (not sure if this matters, but I didn't) and don't heal the Dark Sigil and you should be good.

I made a faith/dex character and didn't like it during the game. Switched over to my strength character, respec'd to pure luck/vig (using
anri's sword
) and dropped a few points into faith so I could use 2 or 3 miracles. Miracles feel like a support thing -- pull them out, pop them, and go back to sword/shield, or whatever you use primarily.

Luck with bleed is sweet. You'll have fun.

Hey Zeliard, what build are you using? Mainly dex, what other stats are you leveling up?

I got invaded last night, solo, when I was fighting a big ass
croc-dog,
the dude/gal just stand there throwing knives at me when I was trying to dodge the damn monster.

When I was finally about to land a hit on him. The thing ate me.

Dude/gal probably had a good lulz.

I see a lot of people are stopping leveling up at 100. Why is that?

Personally i would only stop at a level if you want/need to summon people or want to pvp. If you are lone wolfing the game go all out in levels.
The problem is when you are lvl 250 you won´t find any help at all or pvp.

It's a really well-conceived covenant that shakes up online play a lot.
For co-op, they have a vested interest in helping and protecting players right up until a fog gate; or alternately, until the host is in a weakened state. But the same works in reverse, and the host can betray the phantom at an opportune moment as well. Conversely, when invading, they can do the same to their invader brethren, which can cause a 2v1 situation that flips because a red invader gets weakened. It's a delicate balancing act whenever they're involved.

I love it. Especially when people freak out either way.

So youre doing strength and luck? What do you have your faith and luck at?

Naw, I switched completely off of strength. I have enough to run the shield I like, but that's about it.

My luck is at 40, and faith is about 16 (this is enough to run blessed weapon for health regain, and 1 or 2 other support spells depending on your attunement level/ring setup).

The thing that makes the build work well is that
anri's sword
scales with luck -- something I guess you can't see in the weapon screen directly, but is listed in the weapon info. With consumables that make your weapon do bleed damage (which also scales with luck, along with crits I think) it all works out nicely. I think the sword has pretty good scaling too (200 + 207 or something at +5).

So no major points in strength or dex needed for that build. Put enough in vit to wear the armor you like I guess (I always stay < 70%).

Anri's sword is weird. You can't infuse it, only upgrade, but it appears to have a lot of hidden infused stuff: http://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Anri's Straight+Sword so you also have regen on it which stacks well with blessed weapon and also the healing ring for ~6 hp regen)

Hey Zeliard, what build are you using? Mainly dex, what other stats are you leveling up?

I started with the Merc class as template.

I'm at SL50 - Vigor 25, Attunement 12 (sadly), Endurance 20, Vitality 10, Strength 13, Dexterity 32, Int 10, Faith 8, Luck 9.

Basically I don't touch any of the magic-related stats. Those are all base.

Really it's just been DEX/VIG/END.

STR high enough to wield what I want to. VIT seems less important here for lighter builds since armor is meaningful only to a certain point, and you can comfortably have anywhere from 30%-69.9% equip load.

As a caster, is there even Any reason to go with Light armor? (except to save a few points on vit).

Doesn't seem to be much incentive to stay below 30% weight.

There also doesn't seem to be much reason to bother with poise either.

Bit of a shame really.

Is anyone using the Barbed Sword? I'm using a +5 Heavy Broadsword that scales really well with my (mainly) STR build, so I'm curious if the effects of the barbed sword would be worth me using/upgrading that compared to my current weapon

I'm not using anything other than ds4windows so I can use my DS4 with the game. If I get banned for that, that will be super shitty.

Has there been an "set" PvP level?

Not that I know of. I asked around on Twitter, only 72 results in the poll but 54% said level 120

I'm sure people have strong opinions one way or another based on what some streamer said. But I know I'm getting constant action at level 110 at least.

Why would anyone summon a mad phantom and expect them to not cause pure fuckery?

Where do you find the Mound Maker's Covenant?

Its easily missed Or follow and complete
Sirris of the Sunless Realms questline.

This is exactly what I have been thinking. Everytime i see a purple sign while being busy progressing through a New area, I'm like Why would i even risk it?

There have been plenty of times where lay down my White Soapstone with the intention of helping whomever. Particularly one time in the Undead Settlement. The guy who summoned me there was trying to advance to the boss, I guess. He hadn't done a few key things and I kept trying to signal for him to follow me but he kept running off. Eventually I got sick of his shit and flat out backstabbed him to death.

Queue "New message from: ???" - "You're a piece of shit"

lmao

Just to spice things up,

You're being invaded, and you decide to take your chances with the one of the only summon signs you see near you. In this light, I've had a lot of success placing my purple sign down after the (mid-late game?)
Pontiff
bonfire, before that big area with the
giants
.

Since that zone is an invasion hotspot for the AF covenant, people will happily summon any help they think they can get.

About the Mound Maker's Covenant. I think I messed up. I did miss it and killed the boss there. Then I respecced and made S
irris
my enemy. Can I not join the Covenant now?

This is my first Souls game completely blind and I have idea what direction I'm taking my character in...

My stats are

Level 55
Vigor: 20
Attunement: 20
Endurace: 16
Vitality: 8
Strength: 17
Dexterity: 22
Intelligence: 18
Faith 16
Luck 7

I'm rocking the Irithyll Straight Sword +3, using it 2 handed and pyromancy with Great Chaos Fire Orb (so good)

I feel like the game is the right difficulty so far (not too easy, nor not too hard) but my character doesn't really specialise in anything...

I've beaten every boss and that character isn't anywhere near the tree boss room. Guess I messed up getting this covenant once again.
Yeah on my first playthrough I completely missed it cause I killed the boss in that area. Which I think prevents you from joining unless you follow the other questline. Which I also missed at first :p
Edit:

yeah you can't join. That's what I did on my first playthrough as well.

You have to summon her at
the bridge with the Irythill crocodile
first. Dunno if you're able to if you've killed the boss already.

Yeah, i guess there are some scenario's where I'd take a gamble but i don't think i would ever summon one if I'm busy with some serious progression. I do understand the fun factor of it though, real cool idea for a convenant.

Holy shit I just beat the game.

I've never beaten a Dark Souls game before. It's a weird feeling.

Time for a second playthrough as a caster! I'm not addicted, I swear!
