That was an intense boss. After getting pretty close a couple of times i used my remaining embers to summon NPC's and finally got him down. Really awesome fight, let's see what's to come!

As a person that always does bosses solo first time... who the fucks cares?

Miyazaki put coop in there so it shouldn't be that against what the series is about.

If people just can't beat a boss, then it's better to get some help to proceed, so they end up liking the game and buy the sequel (thus giving more money to FROM to make these awesome games) that just drop it and ignore the series forever,

This pretty much. Summoning is great when you've been absolutely frustrated with a boss and are threatening to put the game down for a while. I wish I knew about summoning back in DeS and DS1. I would have actually beat those games if that was the case.

I'm confused in S
mouldering
L
ake
.

I got to the bonfire called Old King's Antechamber or something, and it's fucking nothing. I found the illusory wall to the Estus shard, but the corridor next to the bonfire leads nowhere. I can tell there's a collapsing floor or something above the corridor, and I can hear the sounds of something walking nearby, but I'm not sure I'm on the right track. Also went all the way to the ballista and disabled it, but there was nowhere to go from there either.
That whole area is basically a dead end, with some good unique loot.

There's no point, just find everything you can.

What's considered the best dex based weapon in the game?

I decided to go dex focused after running Bloodborne as a STR build. Really digging the Estoc and Rapier style swords - anything great like that down the road?

I didn't get an achievement pop-up for defeating the Watchers last night. I was playing during the usual Tuesday Steam downtime, but I'm 100% sure I was in online mode when I actually walked through the fog door. I was definitely playing in offline for a bit, but I exited to main menu to make sure I was playing online before I did the boss. I did not restart the whole game.

I dropped my summon a few times after, but that obviously didn't matter.

I'm not worried about the achievement itself (I'll get it on NG+ or with a reroll) but I am about all this invalid game data stuff. What do?

Well, there is one pretty damn cool throwback to DS1 if you look hard enough.

I just beat Dancer, how much more do I have left?

You've got the last two zones in the game and two pretty intense bosses to go before the final encounter. Unless you haven't been to the secret area A
rchdragon Peak
in which case you have one additional gimmick boss and one very hard/rewarding one to add to that.

shut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuup
This may be a weird comparison, but it still kept popping up while I was playing. The game kind of reminds me of
OoT: Master Quest
in the best way possible.
In some ways DkS III feels like a remixed version of the original. Of course this makes sense, since the game takes place in the same world, but everything just feels different enough.

High Wall => Undead Burg
Crucifixion Woods => Darkroot Garden (while I was exploring yesterday I actually saw some blackened/dead DkS mushroom enemies in a corner)
Farron keep => Blighttown (just because of the swamp. Blighttown feels way more opressive)
Smouldering Lake => Demon Ruins
Grand Archives => Duke's Archives
Anor Londo
Irithyll Dungeon => Tower of Latria (different game)
(add if you know more)

What From has done really well though is to
make this obvious enough, but not make it feel like a total deja-vu (at least for me). Other players seem to take more issue with it, but it never felt like they were straight-up rehashing in this game.

A patch absolutely needs to rebalance and reassess how they're doing covenants. Not one of the "summon to defend" covenants has ever pulled me in so I can even *try* to get a reward for it. A couple of them I've missed out on completely because they only function with low-level players (Mound-Makers and Watchdogs), so there's no way to get the rewards for them without grinding out rare drops for a billion hours. Very aggravating, especially since I want to 100% the trophies on it.

You don't have to be low level to complete mound-makers. You can get the shackles by invading while in the covenant, and it will find invasion victims in exactly the same way ad for any other invasion.

Hmm okay. But I can hear that there are more enemies around :|

Do you mean a specific item?

They should just put the blu eye orb back in for those covenants. Got 100% on every soulsborne game I played, but I don't think I'm gonna bother with this one.

Is the stuff in the lava worth grabbing?

Sacred Fire is baller, I wasted a ring of sacrifice to get it. Toxic Mist is nice but you need faith to use it.

Both are pyromancies though.

I just realized that DS3 is the first Souls game where I've completely ditched a shield and just use roll to avoid attacks. Bloodborne taught me well.

These knights in the Tower on The Wall are detroying me, been here for like 2 hours. Trying to get the
key.

Time to turn this off.

How are you getting killed by them? try to roll into their left or right side so you can backstab them or roll and hit them no more than two times so you can recover to dodge their counter attacks.

Miyazaki put coop in there so it shouldn't be that against what the series is about

it is against what the core aspect of the series is about...Miyazaki and others at From have talked about this many times...they want players to get better by learning and observing the enemies...tell me how anyone will get better by watching 2 other players defeat the boss?...how will this make the player better in any way?...yes they can continue the game but so what...they are most likely going to continue to summon

This is ridiculous. Summoning has been a core part of the game since the very beginning, as well as one of the most innovative features of the series.

just because it's been a part of the game from the beginning doesn't mean it's innovative...I'm sure even From didn't anticipate people using it as a crutch so much where it takes the place of players trying to get better...they can't remove the feature now only because it's become a staple of the series

again my main point was that they need to tweak the summoning aspect so that players aren't abusing it...make a limit to the number of times a player can use it or invoke a penalty of some kind

Indeed. Many don't have the time or the patience to grind their teeth against a cinder block for two days just to beat one boss. They want to have fun and enjoy the rest of the game. That is why summoning has always been there. Plus, it can be fun as hell in general.

the game is a total joke when using summoning help...I tried it out with the Gundyr boss fight and having 2-3 people turns the game into a super easy mode...From Software needs to make changes with summoning to either limit it in some way or make there be some kind of penalty for using it too much...if someone sucks at the game then Dark Souls might not be the game for them...the game is the greatest gaming series of all time and to see it watered down by summoning is annoying

summoning goes against everything the series is about...Miyazaki stated many times that the game is not meant to be hard but forces the player to learn and adapt...how will people learn anything by summoning through every challenge?

I...??? I want to believe this is a joke post. Either that or you're too Souls diehard.

Summoning doesn't always make things easier. Especially if you summon people or are summoned by people who don't know what they're doing. I escorted a guy through an area last night, we got to the boss door and he summoned a second person - who promptly died five seconds into the boss. I got summoned by another host who went into the fog door before I had finished coming into his world, and before I could help he'd already died.

Yeah, if you get three people who know what they're doing and know all the boss strats it'll be easier. But the idea that "wah wah summoning makes the game too easy" is too close to the toxic "git gud" mentality. Calling for summoning of all things to be nerfed is just wrong.

The entire point of summon co-op is for people who are stuck to get help. So what if they suck? Maybe they'll co-op the first time around and then learn from their partner and the next time they solo the same boss and feel great! Why punish somebody for using mechanics included in the game?

To play devil's advocate: using the time argument isn't valid because not everyone game is designed to be enjoyed by everyone.

That said, summoning allows everyone to see the beautiful worlds - that's good enough reason.

Is there any other way to get Siegbräu? Siegward is gone :( Can't find him anymore after the
Yhorm fight
.

And I accidentally used the first Siegbräu :/

So much more especially if you do the side stuff.

Awesome! Is it hard to miss the additional area?

Which one is that? Wanna make sure I don't miss it.

That's like the entire area.
Do you mean a specific item?
Haha well yeah, I guess I should be more specific... You can find an old decrepit
quelaana
, which I thought was great. You don't get much for it outside of the "holy shit" moment though.

Maybe I'm just over leveled, but does this game seem like the easiest Souls game yet? I'm by no means trying to toot my own horn, because I know I'm not a great player, but the bosses have been relatively easy. I think I've only died once during a boss fight, and that was more of a learning experience.

Hahaha. Them summoning has exactly zero impact on your game. Why are you so upset about it?

The penalty is getting your shit slapped by invaders.

Question about the Yoel quest line -
After he dies and Yuria is at Firelink, is it safe to reverse my hollowing (in terms of not missing out on the ending)? And is there any benefit in being hollowed or not?

Does well does the Blue Sentinel/Darkmoon covenant work? I get summoned maybe once an hour if I'm lucky on my JP PS4 copy.

I'm been through the game twice and never had more than 10 concord on either playthrough. I had the covenant on full time as soon as I got it on both characters.

There's two areas where he'll give you Siegbrau, but you're past both of them.

After helping defeat the demon and in Boreal.

yea, I had look up how to get to the side stuff. Easily missable if you're just following a critical path. Fun areas and there are bosses!

Of course it is valid. One should not be exempt from enjoying Dark Souls just because they have a life and limited time to game.

First , the core aspect of any game, even Dark Souls, is to have fun.
Again, Co-op is there, they didn't tweak it or something, so for them, it's a viable method (your argument that they do'n't touch it because its a staple of the series doesn't work when they keep restricting PvP with every new game instead of Coop).

If people have more fun with coop and it doens't bother you, you shouldn't care.

Honestly, you're just yelling at clouds in the most elitist way.

There IS a limit though. You have to be embered/not hallow/alive whatever mattering on the series. You're taking this game way too seriously. So you can beat the game when others can't unless they get help? Good job.

Any tips for beating
Aldrich
its the only time I've struggled with the game so far. I just cannot seem to get beyond the second stage of that fight. Not to mention the run up to the boss is a pain in the pass. Ive resorted to just running straight to the fight

Do not reverse the hollowing until you beat the game. You'll ruin it.

I do hope they add an item/covenant or something that increases the HP of enemies depending on how many players you add to the game. Something like a 25% HP boost for each player summoned and bosses get a few extra moves that deal better with multiple players. Everyone wins.

Even though at this point in the game my pyro is wrecking shit, I dont think so. It feels harder than DS2 to me, especially regular enemies.
