You know Zach, there is more stuff in the movie apart from fucking The bat stuff right?

Like you can wear a cape, a lasso, a lightning bolt shirt, a fucking trident in the form of a pen.

but no you have to use a fucking Bat gauntlet.

Jeez.

If anybody here liked the in and out spacey/dream vibe of BATMAN V SUPERMAN and want to see what influenced the movie heavily and get a good insight into Snyder as a director (and his vision for the dc universe, whether you agree with it or not) they should check out John Boorman's EXCALIBUR

i'm no fan of snyder and i found the theatrical version of this film to be a bit of a mess, the utimate cut was fixed but there are still script issues tbh. however I still think it's easily the most interesting movie he's made (his best too imo) and a great look into what he wants to be and his influences.

EXCALIBUR had mixed reviews when it came out, it was deemed a bit too messy and also dark for a medieval fantasy flick, which was also r rated btw. There's great imagery in there though and snyder definitely cribs from some of it for his own batman/superman flick.

this kind of says it all about the guy, especially with it being his favorite film

To be a male teenage movie nut in 1981 was to revel in the PG razzle-dazzle of superheroes (Superman II), ancient monsters (Clash of the Titans), and a Fedora-sporting archaeologist (Raiders of the Lost Ark). But for Zack Snyder the be-all end-all cinema experience of that year was John Boorman's R-rated Excalibur, a visually dazzling collage of mythmaking, mysticism, bygone heroism and sex-and-blood thrills.

i certainly don't think he's as talented as john boorman but you can definitely see how much some of the dude's movies shaped him when you watch his films.

oh and a little BvS comparison

anyways. check the movie out. i can see some people here really enjoying it.

I first saw Excalibur when I was about 11. To this day, 23 years and an ungodly amount of watched movies later, it's still one of my favorites.

That was a pretty good article about Zack and his influences. I've never heard of Excalibur but now I feel like I have to watch it. It sounds awesome.

Thanks for the heads up Disco.

This sudden spike in Excalibur is kinda odd. Wasn't Excalibur the movie the Waynes left in the Snyderverse instead of Mark of Zorro? It was pretty obvious Snyder was a fan.

And that's a wrap for Justice League filming in London...

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/justice-league-filming-ends-london-934446

That's a wrap from the London set of Justice League.

Star Jason Momoa (Aquaman) shared a photo on Instagram announcing that the cast and crew will be celebrating the end of filming in the city with a wrap party Saturday night. They've been shooting in London since April.

"There's to many people to thank for all their hard work JL. Tonight is our wrap party. I am so thankful for my cast and crew. I love you," Momoa wrote.

The star won't be at the party, teasing, "Unfortunately I prepare for the north." (Cue the fan theories that this means he'll be returning to Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo.)

Justice League, directed by Zack Snyder, hits theaters Nov. 17, 2017.

My plans are watching Supergirl. Hope you guys don't mind me talking about it in here, the DCTV folks are weird. I'm on the episode with Black Mercy. Can't say I like it as much as the JL episode. I don't like how Kara knows right away that it's not real.

This doesn't even make sense.

Why? The only reason they kept him for JL is because it was too soon to find a proper replacement. He never gets his version in the theaters, let alone after the BvS reaction. Hell, even Ayer didn't get what he wanted.

Say what you want, this won't be a Snyder flick. Even the little footage we have seen tells us that. With the exception of that one Aquaman shot, everything else was kinda bland and rather boring. What makes you think Snyder will have a say in the editing this time?

Geoff John's likes him well enough to be making plans with him. So it's a bit of a reach to say he has no say so, or even be barred from the editing room.

Cause Warner Bros can't afford for another "Warner Bros did their own cut of the movie and it kinda sucked" story, especially when attracting future talent. I'm sure Snyder will get a chance to put together his own cut of the film. Whether it gets used is a different story. But locking him out completely? They can't absorb that PR hit even if it's Zack Snyder on the other end of it.

if his cut doesn't make it i'd like to see it make the bluray at least. that would be dope.

i pray this doesn't end up another basura suicide squad situation. snyder's likely gone after this too, so i would be interested in seeing what he does with the justice league movie before he goes. please no trash trailer park editing though. and yeah like you said horror stories like that can only scare away talent more than anything else.

Before BvS came out Snyder talked about MoS, BvS, and JL being a trilogy of sorts. I'd like to see that vision concluded without much compromise, even if the BvS ultimate cut will likely end up the purest to his ideas. It's interesting since they always talked up JL as a lighter film.

And related to the Excalibur post above, if you can take BvS as Snyder's send up to that, JL is his to Seven Samurai. To where Michael Wilkinson incorporated elements of samurai armor in the suit designs.

I'm honestly not very excited for Justice League. I believe in Snyder, I believe in the cast, I believe in the direction... I don't believe in WB. Between everything with Batman v Superman and especially Suicide Squad I just don't really trust their judgement at this point. I'm not really concerned with Wonder Woman however. Not sure why.

Yeah I'm not that excited for Justice League either but I can't explain why; other than Green Lantern not being in it. I am excited for Wonder Woman though.

didn't know about that. cool shit. i can see the influence in the final aquaman armor for sure now that you mention it though.

more excited for justice league over any other dc (or comic flick) right now tbh except for batman solo of course.

and then to a lesser extent flash, black panther, spiderman and wonder woman.

We're not that bad. Are we?

What do you think so far?

Only some of you :p

The first half of the season is soooooo cheesy but it gets better. It's too hopeful if that makes sense. I much prefer the Snyder verse style Superman.

This black mercy episode turned out better than I thought

Please DC gods don't let snyder do a CGI gore 3rd act, the genre needs to move on from this fucking bullshit. goddamn

Mad props if that doesn't happen but I doubt it. Best we can hope for though is that the batGod has his own shit going on with some more hand to hand combat goons

I'd be down for the League vs Steppenwolf. I liked that about the Doomsday fight. Big 5 or 6 vs 1 brawl. Already know they'll end up fighting scrub parademons at a point and I'll half tune out.

edit: also, Snyder can make these bombastic action scenes look cool.

The one shot I really dug off that fight (aside from tdkreturns homage) was when batman was watching wonder woman, Superman and doomsday go at it. It was a cool perspective shot

The rest was the usual cgi explosion porn. But yeah if it's the whole league vs Steppenwolf that would be cool.

Leave the parademon stuff for earlier. Really don't need a rehash of avengers 1 and 2 finales here

Yeah, this is where I'm at too. I'm nervous about what the movie is going to end up being in the hands of WB. I'm totally down with what Snyder and company have given us so far but I fear WB is too caught up in the possible reception to fully commit to Zack and Terrio's vision, so I don't know what to expect and that only feels me with dread.

I just hope he has secured a DC in his contract, like he always had.

Not convinced, Snyder never gets his version in the theaters and WB's trust in him must be at an all-time low after BvS. With the exception of one shot, nothing in that trailer felt like a Snyder movie. If anything Batfleck will be more involved in the final edit.
