Maybe they should just say what it is instead of all this childish bullshit.

Dammit DC, I love you but stop fucking around.

"It's not a reboot" is classic comic book marketing talk.

DC also said New 52 and COIE weren't reboots at the time too lol.

Ironically, I'd argue the major flaw with both is that they weren't full reboots.

Not saying this is a similar situation, but DC keeps trying to have its cake and eat it too by choosing to keep certain books' histories but discarding the rest, without realizing that everything is tightly bound together.

I'm curious if this'll end up being what DC has been inching towards for years now: a full return to the Silver Age status quo, where they officially say that all continuity is out the window, and the only thing that matters is the current story.

I believe it was rumored that they were moving to that policy, but I don't recall it being officially stated.

That's what they should do.

That or actually blow everything up and do an actual 100% clean reboot but that ain't even happening.

The thing is that it wouldn't be the Wally y'all are so horny for.

It's a damn shame Johns was never allowed to have multiple Flash comics like they had GL comics.

That bugged me, and still does. Like, Aquaman had two books at one point. I never got why there was only one singular Flash book. Is it really just to keep everything on Barry?

They could and should do that, but that won't stop fans from complaining.

Some people are really, really invested in continuity.

Exactly. For all the shit Johns gets for his Jordan fetish, the dude went above and beyond to NOT kick Kyle to the curb. Kyle, Guy and John all got their own books on a regular basis, which continues to this day. Shame Flash didn't get likewise, given how awesome that mythology could be - Flash: Rebirth really does feel like a great idea that ended prematurely.

There's nothing stopping them from giving Bart his own book.

but barry is the second coming

Barry when he died, was the best hero of all time, not only did a retooled sci fi flash spark an interest in superhero comics again in the mainstream. But he saved the multi multiverse in the COIE event in the most heroic move possible. The flash did indeed save the world, its like not using Kaldur when he is clearly ready to take Aquamans place, as the son he never had...well never got to raise...the son of his arch enemy, how cool is that??? What are you waiting for?

DC stop your personal crusade against all things Mark Waid made cool for you in decades past, Wally West should be the one. I could understand if he made a mockery of the Flash title but he embodies Jay and Barry respectfully.

Serious question: how is Jim Lee qualified to run DC comics? He doesn't seem remotely qualified for the job. He is obviously a great artist, but I don't see how this qualifies him to run the entire company.

If they were smart they'd do a complete refresh. Scrap all history and go Ultimate route. (Minus the rampant angst that was prevalent in the Ultimate line)

And I want a digital service, goddamnit. It's 2016.

Why don't they start off with comics for each member of the justice league for a while then expand from there.

I'm pretty invested in continuity when it works in favor of character and world development. If writers feel they can do that better without a tie to continuity, I'm down for this. They still have a whole history to work with if they want to, and I can just jump on the with the next writer.

(So the next writer who wants to acknowledge and use all of Bruce's children. So I'll be waiting a while. :p)

DC in the modern era rode highest a few years prior to, during, and immediately after their year long 52 event (the same-named weekly series). The critical and commercial success seemed to begin with Identity Crisis, gathered strength with Infinite Crisis, peaked with 52, and was pretty much ended by Final Crisis. During this time their main characters had settled into a territory that fans seemed to generally embrace, and readers were responding positively to new characters like Blue Beetle and fresh takes on villains like Black Adam.

I wouldn't be surprised if this event realigns things more closely with how they were back then - even publishing wise. Like having the main Batman title going back to its old formula of three-to-six issue arcs done by different creative teams, while Detective' is off doing its own thing. Restoring the most recognizable versions of all their major heroes and villains (like Wally West).

However, I'm guessing it's something far simpler - perhaps merely resurrecting some beloved old dead character, or a number of dead characters.

My guess is unboot... but didn't they already do that with Convergence?

Because he founded and ran one company before it was acquired by DC Comics.

So long as this makes Green Lantern and Flash readable again I'll be happy.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're bringing back the classic JSA. I remember Johns saying in an AMA a year or so back that JSA was the book he missed writing the most and he was bummed the N52 didn't allow for a proper JSA because the universe was too new.

A company that he had to sell to DC after 5 years because they were bleeding money. Not exactly the best resume.

Also, running a comic book company that publishes ≈5 comics a month (some of which were creator owned) doesn't exactly prepare you to be the publisher of DC.
Good to have friends.
