DC Universe Rebirth Begins This May

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
this is going to sound really dumb but bi weekly is every two weeks right?

Don't worry, you're not dumb, but rather it's a dumb quirk of the language. It can mean twice a week or twice a month.

In this case they mean a new issue every other week.

On the subject we need to get together and formalize this shit. Bi-weekly should mean twice a week and Bi-monthly should mean twice a month.

Shut yo damn mouth. Unless you're talking about Harper. I really don't care about Harper.

lol. I guess what I really meant is mostly just Harper when I really think about. I truly do not like that girl. But I do honestly think mostly in crossovers that it seems like some members really get the shaft, although that is just poor writing. Steph seems to do nothing. Jason and poor Tim have a lot of problems too. Pls, just someone help Tim.

^Alright, cool.

I was about to ask when they're announcing solicits because I figured the news would have to be before/coincide with that.

All I know is that if they take away the Sinestro monthly, I'll cry. That character really has outgrown being a Green Lantern villain by this point.

I still haven't had enough of Red Lanterns. I hope they become a big thing after the GLC movies.

I think their best bet is a multi color book like new guardians was.

Guy or Razor (red), Kyle (green), Saint Walker, New Indigo, mystery black lantern gone rogue
Abin Sur rediscovering his humanity
, Globbulus (or new char), and Arkillo (or new char).

Tomasi or Bedard plz.

Keep Kyle as the White Lantern and elevate a new Green. Just no mention or acknowledgment of Rankorr ever existing as a Red please.

Aya could be interesting, especially if they want to revisit a manhunter storyline soon.

That's a good point. We need to give Cruz or Baz something to do. Tbh I have no idea what's going on with Kyle after new guardians. I know he's in omega men but I'm a filthy trade waiter.

I hope Rankorr gets wiped out in the next DC event. Superboy prime needs fodder.

edit: I'd forgotten a star sapphire. I don't think I've seen Miri since New 52 started. A new character or a converted one would be fun.

Nah dude not Saint Walker. Do Warth instead:

Whaaaaaaaat? You don't love the boring ass "Greatest Red Lantern ever"?

I'd probably do new recruits for most of the Corps with Kyle as the mentor figure. For Red, Blue, Indigo, and Star Sapphires I'd just come up with brand new characters. The Green rep would be Baz, Yellow would be that new little grey dude (whose name I forget) that psychically vivisects things, and then Orange would be Glommy. I'd be a-ok with Bunn writing it, his Sinestro run has been solid.

Leave Kyle alone for a while let him go have some light space adventures traveling the universe or something. Dude put the work in.

Yeah it seemed like the first priority coming off of John's GL run was undoing everything that happened.

Sinestro is the only book that seemed to stay independent of the other books.
Are there any other Blue Lanterns besides Walker, then?

I agree with using Baz. Honestly the boy has done nothing. He was in Justice League of America as part of Waller's Justice League counter, but I feel like other wise he's just floating out in the ether. Just floating around. Not doing a god damn thing.

Yeah it seems like whatever plans Johns had for Baz died when corporate made him cut back to writing only 1 or 2 books a month and he had to drop GL and JLA. Maybe one day we'll get to see him train Jessica Cruz like in his epilogue scene from GL #20.

If Jessica becomes the new GL of Earth, Baz is likely going to disappear into the ether. Which isn't surprising. His introduction didn't go over as well as DC would like, if I recall, and a new female GL is some positive press they really need right now.

While I would be ok with either, I think Jessica lends herself to more interesting story arcs than Baz. We've seen the "can do things no other GL can!" story a couple times already, but a good writer could really do a lot exploring Jessica overcoming the corruption of Volthoom's ring and mastering its powers.

no, I think saint walker is the only one left.

I kind of like where they were positioning Baz as the Earth Lantern. Even though there's like 4 lanterns, a power ring, and probably Alan Scott with Rebirth, none of them really felt like Earth Bound super heroes.

Speaking of Power Ring, I've wanted a Crime Syndicate book since Forever Evil. I don't care if it's a prequel or their planet gets restored after Darkseid War, I just want to see more of their world developed. Wouldn't have to be the crime syndicate, I just want to see more Earth-3 versions of my favorite characters.

Baz was particularly bullshit, though. He willed his bro out of a coma. Like, fuck that.

I would love an Earth 3 book. Starts as a prequel that leads to Forever Evil, and then continues onwards after Darkseid War (for whatever reasons conceivable). Just villains being shitbag villains would be amazing.

Same. Her becoming a GL is the natural closing point of her character arc, and she's been one of the more interesting new characters in the Justice League. It'd be awesome if she became the headliner for the main GL book, but with Hal around....ehh...

I'd be all for this.

Or, failing that, have the Forever Evil team of supervillains form their own Justice League esque team. Black Adam and Sinestro is such a bad ass pairing that not doing that is crazy. And you can have Manta randomly killing people off panel.

So long as that Earth 3 book means more Deathstorm, I'm down. Earth 3 Stein was such an evil, fucked up bastard, I was pissed when
he died
in Forever Evil. It'd also be interesting to learn more about Alexander Luthor and the powers of Mazahs. So yeah, an Earth 3 book would be great.

Have Hal and space focused stuff in a relaunched Green Lantern Corps book and have Jessica in the main Green Lantern book having Earth based adventures with the occasional foray into space.

Did Guy and Bleez work out?

Nah.

This exact team up is happening in the Sinestro solo book. He's been teamed up with Adam for the past few issues to take down a space cult before it can take over the Earth.

I'm the other way, I feel you have more story potential with Baz making him the primary earth Lantern. There's something to be said about an American Muslim having the most powerful weapon in the world and being on Americas pay roll.

Cruz is just a paranoid doomsday prepped which gets old fast.

The problem with this is finding writer who has the right touch to handle it properly. That's a PR disaster waiting to happen if it's written poorly.

I liked Baz, but it was weird that they never really did anything with him. To be fair they've done hardly anything with Jessica either.

I agree, Kyle's fine as a White Lantern, they just need to introduce a drawback. Maybe it's hard to switch colors, maybe he has a timelimit where he has to remain in a color once he switches. He needs something though, otherwise, he's too powerful.

The original idea was that Baz trains Cruz.

Why they didn't follow up on this is beyond me. Make a Green Lantern book, starring Jessica and Baz.

Pretty much what X'hal said he's pretty much a low level god.

The problem with Baz is the same problem DC has overall, they tried to bring in something that would get attention but had zero idea on how to do the follow up and make them work.

Yeah, and they seem to want to go in that direction in general.

That's just not really compelling as an ongoing. One human's journey towards godhood, sure, but you need struggle for that to happen. It's why things like Omega Men are great.

Man poodle tried to get me to read omega men but I thought issue 1 was bad.

And I remember Jesus Rayner.

King's work on Omega Men and the Green Lantern Darkseid War one shot are why he's my dream pick to take over the Green Lantern.

Did Guy and Bleez work out?

The closest it got was a physical relationship they had in future's end, she still loved Rankorr (maybe the only one). All the future's end were sort of "what if's" anyways, I get the feeling Rankorr will never be a significant character again.

and nothing of value was lost

I hate God like White Kyle. For me, he is the best Green Lantern ever (Jordan should not have come back, he is shitty). Even a low level Ion is enough for me, but keep him green.

re·birth
rēˈbərTH/Submit
noun
the process of being reincarnated or born again.
"the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth"
the action of reappearing or starting to flourish or increase after a decline; revival.
plural noun: rebirths; plural noun: re-births
"the rebirth of a defeated nation"
synonyms: revival, renaissance, resurrection, reawakening, renewal, regeneration; More

Might have been mentioned already but if Rebirth isn't a reboot what if it's just a straight resurrection of the pre-New 52/Flashpoint universe with some of the newer stuff (that did work) mixed in. Sales have tank to below pre-New 52 levels haven't they? That more then anything should have sent a message to DC that what they were doing wasn't liked more then anything. So why not give people want they want. Instead of chasing that 100K sales and failing hard go back to what they knew gave them modest sales that could spike with events and what made customers happy and willing to buy more titles.

Is that a real possibility here? It wouldn't be a reboot because they aren't starting fresh but returning to an old status quo, perhaps humbled.
