Given Humphries' output at Marvel that relationship needed to end.

What the hell is that?

That is master storyteller Sam Humphries keeping his finger on the pulse of pop culture by dressing kitty pryde in the peanut butter jelly time banana suit and singing the opening chant from hooked on a feeling, the trailer song for the then recent guardians of the galaxy

The Star-Lord/Kitty Pryde pairing is a war crime from just about every angle. I won't blame Humphries for it, but I won't absolve him either.

Is that Nu Lobo?
Yeah, he was actually rather decent in his solo title.

Did they ever explain why they changed how Lobo looked? Part of his charm was because of how he looked and acted. Who were they trying to appeal to with the new look?
80s parody Lobo does not really fit in the DC Universe in any appreciable form. New Lobo is a throwback to what Lobo was before his parody days.

The one article on Bleeding Cool made it seems like these contracts aren't just guaranteed work but also healthcare as well. So are DC pretty much turning many writers and artist into salary employees but not actually saying that? This seems more solid then past exclusive offerings and likely a bigger deal then people are letting on. Or am I looking at this wrong?

Full healthcare? That's a big change.

I wish I could read comics.....just can't stand the 20 pages and to be continued, though.

Focus on the graphic novels and volumes. It's what I try to do. The majority of the comics I do own and have bought are like this save for a number of Wildstorm stuff. Far easier to stomach I feel. Since I was used to waiting for novels to be released in a series it wasn't much different. Hearing talk about what happens is kinda hard though. So you have to try to ignore that or use it to help you decide if you'll buy that collection or not.

With "Rebirth," the mainline DC Universe titles will be renumbered with new #1s -- except for "Action Comics" and "Detective Comics," the two longest-running series in DC's lineup, which will return to their original numbering at #957 and #934

All DCU books will return to a $2.99 price point (currently their lineup is split between $3.99 and $2.99 single issues), and select core titles (details to come on exactly which) will shift to a twice-monthly schedule.

Yes to $2.99 books as standard.

Hmm.

I really hope they don't have Batman starting at No.1. Snyder's run has been epic on many levels, and they best build it up from where he finishes his run with #51. This entire plot has to mean something.

Everything but Detective and Action are getting new #1's.

It's getting a new #1, but that doesn't mean they're doing in with Snyder's run.

Honestly, I had this discussion with Messi a bit ago, and he turned me around on this; dramatic changes in direction like new creative teams should get new #1s. This'll be an example of that.

Yeah I just read the trades or buy them en masse off Comixology.

Some writers are better to read in totality while some are better at going issue by issue.

Floppies are still out of my price range for most part. That and dealing with storing them.

Shazam would probably be my first actual pull.

Shieeet, John's off JL? I figured Darkseid War would be a good jumping off point, but I figured he wanted Seven Seas in at some point and his cross over with JLA.

I'm guessing he's going to JSA? Would love for Shazam to finally start up.

Well then, I hope Tom King picks up where Snyder leaves the series. Guy can definitely write.

Thoughts and feelings.

"Rebirth" starts in "DC Universe Rebirth," an 80-page one-shot scheduled for release on May 25, written by Johns and illustrated by artists Ethan Van Sciver, Ivan Reis, Gary Frank and Phil Jimenez.
Great team!

Convergence already killed DC sales and that was last year. New fans don't jive with renumbering and reboots, they just know that their favorite book goes away and maybe doesn't come back or comes back in a different form. They're banking hard on Rebirth, but I think this close to Convergence, it may backfire.

Price point, good. Still no version of Marvel Unlimited bad. Biweekly books... could be bad, burning out existing fervent readers.

Again, as someone who absolutely loves the DC Universe, to me it's maybe lost some things. Not only characters, but more intangibles. Some essence to what makes the "DC Universe" unique and brilliant and unpredictable. And every single character matters -- from Batman to Cassandra Cain to John Stewart to Saturn Girl to Blue Beetle to Lois Lane-- everyone is someone's favorite. And in comics, anything's possible.
Having tons of the same hero running around is one of the DCU's strengths. Not utilizing all those characters is one of its weaknesses.

If you look at the new Star Wars -- it's kind of a rebirth, right? It goes back to the classic tropes of Star Wars, but it introduces new characters. New threats. It has the spirit of Star Wars, it feels like a Star Wars movie. Probably the first Star Wars movie that's felt like a Star Wars movie in a long, long time. That's a perfect example of what I think "Rebirth" is -- a celebration, but it doesn't mean we're just going backwards. It's an echo of the past, but looking to the future. That's what I want to do with this.

I wish you luck, sir.

$2.99 (or whatever the equivalent is in £'s) comics - yay
Twice monthly shipping - boo

That 80 page one-shot sounds intriguing.

Finally. New 52 has been a failure. Time to embrace all of DC wonderful stories again.

I feel like singles could be structured as "seasons" kind of like TV is. New number ones whenever a new season starts. Usually from a change in creative team, but doesn't have to be a hard rule.

Did they actually mention my girl Cass?

Cass has been a prominent figure in Batman & Robin Eternal for months now :p
