My problem with GL corps after Blackest Night was all of the following major GL events. I felt the guardians re-treading old grounds by being the assholes had been done to death already and it pretty much burned me out of GL books.
That every new story arc begins with the slaughter of dozens of GLs
I guess we'll find out what "old stuff you liked" means tomorrow.
What characters do you like/know? It's usually best to start with something somewhat familiar and then branch out from there.
Looks like Rebirth news tomorrow?

Atrocitus enslaved the Butcher via blood magic. When I think old stuff people love, the immediate thought is Wally and the JSA. Followed by Superman & Lois. So tomorrow should be interesting.
The predator is awesome, favorite is still Parallax.
I always liked that rage looked like a roided out bull.
Poor atrocitus, I would love to see him bonded with the Butcher for a while longer.
Hector was always creepy as shit, though. The creepiest entity bonding for me will always be Hector Hammond and Ophidian
I'm okay with this.Wally West
Hush' storyline
Cass upgraded back to full sidekick
Removal of this awful not-Barbara Gordon
Shiva back to normal
I fucking hate that ponytail. This shit:See, you're just not judging the book on its own merits. It's all about how other characters would fit better or how it doesn't work with the older stuff... on its own, it's a little shaky, but generally pretty good.
Anyway, I think they might have undone Shiva, 'cause now she's looking like this:
Like, it just angers me for some reason. It looks terrible.
For all of the Corps but Red and Violet, they are creating hard light constructs by channeling whatever emotion their Corps are tied to, so when Hal makes a giant fist it's a physical object that causes physical pain. Reds and Violets (the Star Sapphires) function a little different due to being at the extreme ends of the spectrum. Reds cannot make constructs, but rather vomit up hot plasma. Sapphires make constructs but they are crystal based as opposed to light due to the nature of the physical star sapphire. They can also encase people in crystal and turn them into new Sapphires.
Each of the various Corps have their own idiosyncrasies. Blues supercharge Greens, can cure Reds, soothe Oranges, and cannot use the offensive capabilities of their rings unless a Green is present. Indigos can channel any of the other spectrum colors. Reds cannot die unless their rings are removed.
Dozens of us!
But only that motherfucker right there.
Hopefully Babs Tarr gets an exclusive contact.
Did they ever explain why they changed how Lobo looked? Part of his charm was because of how he looked and acted. Who were they trying to appeal to with the new look?
UPDATE: 2.40pm-6.40pm tomorrow is the DC Comics presentation. Thats 10.40pm-2.40am my time. Oh boy...
What time is this happening? Bleeding cool says:
Is that pacific time?
Oh hey, Rankorr died! Now we can just go ahead and refuse to acknowledge he ever existed!
ugh... new Lobo. I hope we get an appearance from pre-flashpoint Lobo, such character, less edge.
BREAKING: @TomKingTK @Clay_Mann_ @jt_cr are bringing their talents exclusively to DC Entertainment!
Locking down King is a p. big deal.
He is gonna finish Vision though right?
I wonder how many more issues of King's Vision are left in the pipeline. (Such a shame as that title was too good.)
I'd imagine so. When Soule went Marvel exclusive he got to finish up his DC books even though that meant he wrote for them another 4 months or whatever.
Is it true Rebirth will be a Mashup of Nu52 and preFlashpoint?
With a "Rebirth" looming, DC Entertainment has signed three creators to new exclusive deals with the publisher. Writer Tom King and artists Clay Mann and John Timms have signed deals with the publisher to work solely for DC Comics and its Vertigo imprint. DC also reveals that King will play a "major role" in the "Rebirth" initiative beginning in June.
“DC Entertainment is proud and thrilled to secure the services of these amazing talents,” said Jim Lee, one of DC's co-publishers. “Speaking personally as a fan of their impressive work, I couldn’t be more thrilled to have them on board for the long haul. We’ve seen the incredible fan response thus far and all I can add is: hold on tight, this is just the beginning!”
Tom King is currently writing Omega Men for DC and Sheriff of Babylon for Vertigo, and recently orchestrated the "Robin War" crossover and co-wrote Grayson with Tim Seeley. King is also writing Marvel's The Vision, but given this new contact that could soon change.
"To me, DC is Superman. DC is Batman. DC is Wonder Woman. DC is Swamp Thing, The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, All Star Superman, The New 52 and The Court of Owls,” said King. “DC is where the great comics get made. I'm honored and proud to be part of that tradition, and I'm going to do my best to deliver my best work ever. I can't wait for people to see what's coming."
Clay Mann is currently illustrating Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death, and came to DC after having exclusives with both Marvel and Valiant.
John Timms is a regular artist on DC's Harley Quinn books.
“Clay’s rock solid structure and keen eye for composition really made his work stand out,” said Lee. “And I really love John’s expressive figure work and fresh, kinetic energy. Their styles are different but they both accomplish the same goal – they simply pull the readers directly into the story, and that’s exactly what we need more of.”
DC notes that these three join DC's growing stable of exclusive talent which also includes Bryan Hitch, Tony Daniel and Peter Tomasi.
The one article on Bleeding Cool made it seems like these contracts aren't just guaranteed work but also healthcare as well. So are DC pretty much turning many writers and artist into salary employees but not actually saying that? This seems more solid then past exclusive offerings and likely a bigger deal then people are letting on. Or am I looking at this wrong?
This is saying that DC has signed Tom King to an exclusive contract:

Guess his Vision book won't be for long. Which sucks.
I'm aware of that, but it still doesn't explain why only Rankorr can make constructs. They do this whole "he uses his rage without completely embracing it" narrative, but why they needed to bring him in for that made no sense. They have a whole Corps. I'm sure at least one of them could have been used for that. Though I suppose bringing in someone new for it would have been the best way to tell it.Atrocus tainted the red lanterns so that they would be so mad they wouldn't be able to form constructs. He didn't want them having an advantage over him. He later reversed it because chilling on a planet with a bunch of motherfuckers literally insane with rage is not that fun.
Oh hey, Rankorr died! Now we can just go ahead and refuse to acknowledge he ever existed!
Lanterns were just not really explored.
Did they ever explain why the tribe can use all the colors? The Indigo Tribe is especially full of untapped stories - Abin Sur making a personal army of brainwashed criminals to take down the Guardians? I'd love to see someone dive into that and explore their history further.
Did they ever explain why the tribe can use all the colors?
As to Vision, I'm on through issue 12. We're finishing the story we set out to tell without a single compromise.
That sounds either really stupid or really okayAll the reds died but Atrocitus modified the red lantern so it would resurrect them.
They all know how to make constructs as well, I remember them drinking Rankor's blood or something like that.
I would assume because compassion means being able to feel everything. Or something akin to thatDid they ever explain why the tribe can use all the colors?
King to Marvel
