Oh hey, good work guys. Wireless 360 pads with the adapter aren't being detected by the game right now. Lovely. Just lovely.

Is there a fix for this yet, I just discovered the same thing...

edit: I found a thread on Steam which explains how to use 360ce to get it working

I wasn't able to get it working, and frankly it's bullshit that I have to resort to software like this to get an advertised feature working.

On the upside, if you can stand to use the keyboard and mouse controls, the game is still my beautiful friend Dead Rising, only now it's running on my PC and the load times are like five seconds. Hell yes.

Game runs incredibly well...wish there was a way to lock it at 30FPS though. At 1680x1050 it jumps between 30 and 60 too often and it gets really distracting. Is there any way to do this?
Use D3DOverrider for Triplebuffer vsync (and disable the in-game vsync option) or turn vsync completely off.

I agree (that we have to use 3rd party software). I managed to get it working and now GFWL doesn't launch any more, I can log in out of game but it doesn't recognise the login, in-game. Other games on steam that require GFWL are working fine, just Dead Rising 2. I tried removing the 360ce files and it still won't work, getting fed up with it...

edit: checked files, Steam downloaded 4 missing files, now it's all working :D

Game runs very well, but Chuck is fucking slow. The sluggishness of Chuck is pretty distracting sometimes. Hopefully he gets faster soon. The game basically feels like a better looking DR1 with much faster loading on the PC. Pretty solid.
That's how Frank was in DR1. Slow sonofabitch ran like he had ankle weights on...until you leveled up his speed. Ran like a fucking track star afterwards.

Yes, it's amazing how successful DR2 is at feeling like DR1, down to the parts I don't want to remember! :D

If you have the Sports Fan pack your shoes has extra traction that makes you run faster.
I used the costume yesterday and man the difference is huge! And I'm level 36, but my speed isn't maxed out so this pack is great.:D

Welp, I played for a few hours and I'm loving the game. Runs extremely well on my machine which is a Quad-core Phenom II 3.2 Ghz with 4 GB of RAM and a lowly HD 4650. It chugs in very small bursts (less than a second; just enough to feel it) in Paradise Plaza and that's about it. It is a very good port and looks fantastic. I already broke this playthrough messing around so it's going to be 3 days of killing zombies and rescuing who I can. I think I can handle that. :D

One thing that was kind of weird is the animation of phone calls. He doesn't seem to really have an animation to pick up a call. It just goes from hand by side to hand by ear in a flash. Very weird looking. Maybe it's a glich for me though. Anyone else noticed this?

They should make a Mercenaries mode. Everyone's stocked up with guns and "normal" melee weapons and the zombies are super aggressive. Get to the chopper mission.

How does it play with KB+M? I don't have 360 controller for PC atm, and would ideally like to play it on PC

like a normal TPS.

Where can I find some Zombrex that is not the pawn shop?
If you go backstage at slot ranch casino (it's in the same area as that maintenance room) there is a zombrex on top of one of the equipment boxes.

Did Frank run really? It was more like a loping shuffle. Funniest "running" animation I've seen yet in a video game.

I always assumed his running animation was from hurting his ankle or something jumping from the helicopter.

It's just one of the things I love about Frank. He's just so -not- your average video game hero. I wish you could play co-op as him in DR2 instead of as another Chuck. Maybe they'll patch it after Case West comes out.

There's a BBQ restaurant somewhere with a second floor, you can use it to jump to several lights hanging from the ceiling, if you make your way through that you can find some.

So I should be hitting a locked 60fps with a Q6600@3.2Ghz and a GTX295? (I'm not)

Edit: Just tried the RE5 bench and it rarely dips below 80fps and is often 130->200+fps
What is going on with DR2 for me?

Are there very many PC reviews yet? I am interested in how it runs compared to the 360 version. $20 less but still with achievements make me happy :D

I was able to play a bit this morning before class, it seems like a pretty good pc port.

Anyone else hate the look of the "blur" effect?

I'm getting lower fps with my 8800GTS compared to RE5 as well.

and? Dead Rising 2 runs slower on consoles than RE5 does as well so i don't know why you'd expect it to run as well as RE5 on pc. apparently it runs well on PC though.

anyways, try turning of the DOF effect. apparently that'll give you a nice framerate boost and you may even prefer how it looks with it off.

wow the PC version of this game looks amazing, running at least 60+FPS on max settings on my 470 gtx. Also didnt expect the controls to be good but they actually are pretty damn good for this.

I don't expect it to run similar to RE5, I know DR2 doesn't even use the MT framework engine. I just confirmed that it runs slower than RE5 on my PC, in case Surfheart was wondering if there is something wrong with his setup.

Thanks for the feedback. I've already got the blur filter off, but strangely it seems to make no difference to my framerate off or on. The game runs at 60 fps for me until i encounter zombies, then it will drop to 30 I guess (vsync)

I also have a strange bug where everytime I load a save the framerate is horrible until the game loads a new area, anyone else experience that?

Edit: Hmm ok, well I disabled SLI in the dead rising profile and now it's a rock solid 60fps and no more performance bug with saves. Guess it's because of the beta driver.

Finished second playthrough the other day, close to level 50 now, went for A-ending and rescued 46 survivors. Then I realized the game didn't give me messages for at least 4 survivors I did bail out on my previous playthrough, otherwise I would've reached the 50-mark. :[

Ah well, next time I suppose...

How the hell do you kill that fat chef? he does to much damage.
Bringing some firearms or using the plates in the kitchen helps. Stops him from eating. Other than that, I just dodged his attacks with the roll evade.

I liked the gameplay of DR1 but didn't enjoy the structure, especially the fact that you would, in effect, have to restart the game again and again to progress farther in the game unless you wanted tasks to be near-impossible to complete. Is there a difficulty select option this time around? :lol
