Unfortunately they really haven't. There are still extremely long load times in most places, and you regularly have to wait a good 30 seconds when changing between areas.

:( That's disappointing. Someone in the Case Zero thread said the title update for CZ improved loading times. If that's true, I'm hoping something is in the works for the 360 version of DR2 as well. It's the one thing I hated about Case Zero.

Thanks for all your tips I will try and use all of this.

I think having more health bars would have to help somewhat. How many do you have at level 19?
I may need to restart my entire game and try and level quicker. This game for me atm just feels like hard work.

But that's basically the point of the game. It's meant to be tense and hard work. If you just want to explore the playground and mess about for a while, let the very first case file expire (where you have to meet the reporter), spend the three days messing around, exploring, finding out weapons, combos, getting to know the locations and finding all the little extras, level up and then start the game properly with all this prior knowledge.

Oh and guns on their own are basically worthless, especially against the psychopaths. You need to combo them to make them at all worthwhile. In both DR1 and DR2 you can tell the devs really wanted to discourage people constantly using the guns.

slow load times are :/ :( to me , i really hated that in the first one, it was understandable at the time since it came out within the first year of the system.

i haven't searched the whole thread because i know i will get curious and highlight a spoiler :lol :lol but my question is:

is there local off line co-op?

I know there's online co-op but haven't heard local.

although if it's just like Lost Planet 2 co-op , i don't want that :lol , really bad, i had to squint to see the screen

Is it possible to complete the story on the first go, or is a restart/level-carry-over pretty much required to finish the story successfully?

I think people are overstating the need for restarting. You can easily complete the storyline without doing this (even more so if you completed Case Zero and got the 5 levels there). It's really only something to consider if you find the game getting too tough. The original DR it was a much more useful option as the game was a lot tougher a lot faster, but DR2's sheer length alone means you're probably better pushing on. For beginners, just try and solve the main story line cases, and try and save as many people as possible, but don't worry about them dying too much, and be prepared to cut your losses if you find a section too hard/too time consuming. It's a game that really rewards you for doing things your own way, and trying to rigidly doing everything on your first run is just a recipe for frustration. Dicking around and exploring can also be incredibly valuable to overall progress too, especially with the new Zombrex mechanic in play (I had 5 doses by mid game by being inquisitive).

No. Please explain.
I think it's the second option on the death screen. First one is to load a save file, second is to restart story, as in: restart story but keep your levels. Also, if you're on psn, i could give you a hand by means of online co-op.

I really need to work out if wanna keep this game or not. :lol If I do I'll shot you a PM with my PSN details in the next day or so and we can give it a crack.

This whole 'restart the story' option sounds like it might be just what the doctor ordered for me. I'll investigate it next time I'm on and see if some extra leveling helps me much.

Also thanks for your input Majora.

Can't wait to play this on PC this week. Is there a thread yet in the online forum for PC users? I don't think I have any friends in real life who are getting this game, let alone on the PC... :-/

Finally finished the game, ended at level 40 with 53 survivors, S-Rank and 3.2 million PP in total.

I was surprised by how similiar the layout of Fortune City is to DR1 in terms of areas you visit (one is under construction, outside area, shopping area and so on). But the game is quite solid, and it didn't have the feeling of being forced in any way, which was my biggest concern.

If it's structured at all like DR1, it might be theoretically possible, but your character would be so weak that it would be incredibly difficult to do so. The difference between LV1 and LV50 is pretty significant, sort of like in Metroid how you are much more powerful with all of the upgrades.

I got the S (best) ending on my first playthrough, and managed to save 53 survivors, so it's certainly possible. I did die a few times, but only in psychopath fights.

I did carry a save file over from Case 0, so I started at level 5, but I doubt that makes too much of a difference.

I found the most useful weapon to be the knife gloves (
boxing gloves + bowie knife; both are found pretty close to the first maintennance room
), and keep a few good healing items on you at all times (orange juice is best to start with, but steak is even better). There's also a magazine that increases food's healing by 50% which I kept on me at all times, but I forget where it is.

Hey guys, I'm curious about a few things in co-op, since I haven't tried it yet.

If I join a friend's game, and save, when I go back to my own game, do I continue where I left off on mine?

Also, can both players explore the map on their own, or do you have to stick together to advance to the next area?

For the OT Boss (and many of the others), the evade roll is a godsend.

Seeing one of my friends play this, makes me tempted to go back and start it all over again.

I finished the campaign with an S-ending the first time around, so it's doable. There'll be some tight deadlines though if you want to rescue some survivors, especially if you luck out on the speed upgrade (I only got mine at level 21), and you might want to avoid some of the bosses until you get a feel for the gameplay / the mall. Certain unlockable skills are a huge help too for the boss fights.

I did it with the knife gloves and a lot of drinks with the 50% extra health recovery magazine. And getting the survivors in fights with psychopaths is stupid, they'll just get killed, I had to restart when I tried that once :lol.

not if you give them good weapons and equip the magazine which makes them more efficient. Bring two or three around, armed with assault rifles or some other kind of limitless long range weapon and they'll kick asses.

Speaking of magazines..stupid question but do they respawn at their original position ? because i'm pretty sure i randomly dropped a lot around

I'm enjoying this so far - it's little different to the first but if works. More of the same is a good thing in this case. Shame that the PS3 version is so massively sub- HD & carries the tearing baton of the original game.

This is bullshit. There is a midnight launch for DR2 at my gamestop but only for standard edition, not Zombrex. They get it in tomorrow. Im pretty mad but whatever. :(

So is online co-op any good?

I always get hyped for any game with online co-op but get dissapointed when the network code is shitty :(

Also, which version is the best 360 or ps3?

I would go for pc but j have no controller

Just had a pretty damn funny moment. When I was doing the
"One Hit Wonder" sidequest (the one with the crazy woman putting on a show), I had some survivors with me, so I sent them behind the stage and told them to wait. One of the had a handgun, and when the show started, and I was doing the button-press minigame, he popped out from around the corner, and started shooting at the zombies that had gathered around, but he kept hitting Bibi during her performance.
:lol

With such amazingly diverse environments and huge catalog of items found in this game, I am surprise Capcom has not use this tech for other type of games.

I'm pretty sure that they're going to use the item system for their upcoming Powerstone sequel.
Believe.

Anybody get the TK's favorite achievement? It's driving me fucking mental at the moment as I've had 1 event left to win (shaft), I've seen it 3 times in 2 hours and I always choke on the match-winning button sequence.

I had no lags in the 3 or so coop sessions I played on 360.

Also, not havng a controller shouldn't discourage from playing the PC version as it seems to have solid KB+M (unless you just don't like KB+M). And you are aware that you could just simply use your 360/PS3 controller n your PC? Setting a controller up is really easy.

I'm curious. Can you use a wireless 360 controller on a PC if you plug it in with the charging cable or is it only the full wired ones that'll work?

Nah, you either have to use a wired controller or use the wireless receiver dongle for like 15€.
But a PS3 controller would work with a standard USB cable.

Pre-loading this bitch on Steam! I was going to hold out for a retail copy, but seeing how low the USD is now, the price would end up being the same at best. :lol

Ugh. On my second playthrough, I was escorting a group of survivors to the exit, which would have rewarded me with the last couple of combo cards for the "collect all survivor combo cards achievement". But the game ended when I was no more than two feet away from the hatch to the saferoom. I hadn't done any of the cases, so the bad ending cuts the game short a lot earlier. Under those circumstances, you only have 45 minutes (in-game time) between recieving the call and the game ending.

Needless to say, I'm a bit irritated.

Oh well. Next playthrough, I guess. I'll be doing a lot more of them anyway, as I'd like to go for the full 1000 again (though I seriously don't know how the hell you're supposed to get 72,000 kills. Even riding an SUV/chainsaw bike around in the central park seems to be too slow).

God I hate the time limits and how it forces you to replay the whole chapter from the beginning if you fail to reach the safe room in time. :(
At least I learned my lesson early and save on different slots now. Other than that, I'm having a blast with DS2. :D

Anybody else hit with the super annoying save glitch with the co-op? Every time I go to save in co-op, one of us gets booted, its happened with 5 of my friends, every time. Tried clearing the system cache, no dice. I wonder if Capcom even tested this shit, super annoying.

So I’ve been talking to one of the guys who worked on the game through private messages and he’s telling me cool little stuff. Here’s the latest private message:

I'll wait a good week before saying anything in the OT about it.

Leon is meant to have a sexual infatuation with Chuck Greene. If you watch when Chuck first rides into the elevator in TIR at the beginning of the game Leon is checking Chuck out and then turns away when Chuck looks over at him. In his boss intro he throws the keys to the bike away from Chuck so he has to walk over to them and bend over to pick them up.

I believe the model of Leon is a modified version of the original Chuck Greene model from early production. His face is also used again as one of the militia men on the rooftop (the one that doesn't talk in the cinematic)

Other stuff that is pretty subtle. Chuck never drinks coffee in the cinematics until he discovers the truth in
the underground lab.
The scene where he is framed for the outbreak he is about to sip and doesn't and then when the explosion goes off that signals the robbery he doesn't either.

Really minor stuff...in The Boykin intro when Rebecca yells out for Chuck it is actually Stacey's voice. We never had a cut of the actress for Rebecca yelling out his name. I think it is the same sample as in Ending B.

Pretty awesome stuff! It seems like the game is completely littered with references and jokes. I didn’t even pick up on the fact that Leon is in love with Chuck! :lol
