:lol Honestly, if people are having trouble with a mission just let it expire and enjoy the game without any of the things they are complaining about. Things are so much smoother when you know are a higher level and know where everything is. I only got 49 survivors my first playthrough and I'm already at 51 on day 4 on my second. :)

Any tips on the Snipers? Like the easiest entrance to access all their ladders without getting shot at?

Easiest way to avoid getting shot is to run serpentine. If you're moving sideways when they shoot, you won't get hit. So, just run sideways and forward a little bit and you won't get shot at all. This works during the actual fight as well. I rarely got hit by them at all.

but doesn't look like I have enough time to defeat em. Tried rushing them but they kick my ass. Wish the clock would pause during boss fights.

Yeah, I'm about at that point. My current save is in the bathroom near the fight, and I might have 10 minutes before time runs out. And the fight seems to be bullshitty hard. Maybe I can get some Co-Op help tonight on the Fight.

Is no one else having trouble with the DVD version of this? Not even getting an error message before my PC freezes is kind of annoying and has left me stumped.

I tried the audio trick to no avail, I'm using at gtx 460 with the latest drivers, i tried some compatability modes too but nothing seems to work at all.

It seems some steam users were having toubles too.

I got through that fight really quickly doing this:
Grab the LMG from the office next to the escalators (in the back where the drill is) and using that just focus on one of them. You can run backwards in aim mode while firing and thier attacks will mostly miss. Shouldn't take more than a minute.

Ugh... I was playing co-op with Jeramii last night in his story, and the game ends, and I hit save thinking it would have no effect on the story I had the most progress on. It saves the fuck over it with ending, and now I have to restart the game.

Pain in my ass.

Happened to me too.
I didn't mind, though. I wasn't too far into my game, and I looked forward to playing through it again.

We should also be able to save at all time, anywhere. Don't forget an auto-save function each time I leave or enter an area, start an escort quest or case file, or begin a psycho fight. We can call it Casual Rising.

Exactly, fuck that shit. That's not what DR is all about.

Do you have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package installed? If not do so and see if that works.

You can't activate the retail PC version on Steam then?
Sadly no, it's not a steamworks game. Trying to activate it on steam doesn't work.

I wasn't rallying about games being hard. Hard is good. Demon souls is hard, but it doesn't resort to cheap tactics to achieve that. Stuff like being hit with an attack, and then being hit again as you recover without the chance to avoid it. That's the type of shit you'll see angry video game nerd raging about on a video in 10 years.
The point that people are trying to make is that the lack of saves and the time limits are not cheap. Its part of the game design, its challenging, and we like it.

Seriously though, how hard is it to look at the map, spot a bathroom, and save?

Back in my day...

Dead Rising 2 is like a modern NES game. Fun as hell but batshit difficult when it needs to be. :lol

I didn't really mean to say those were cheap, those are fine on their own merit. The bosses are what's cheap, the time limits/saves just make them a bitch to deal with.

I used the golf-cart-type vehicle that's parked near one of the entrances, as it respawns after going to each rooftop. I tried sniping them back, but gave up since they have superhuman aim.

Exactly.

It's tough juggling all the tasks in this game, but thats what makes it immensely satisfying when you succeed.

The bosses are awful.
So far the only strategy I've found that works is "Go to Yucatan, get the LMG, shoot in face until they die"

Especially since so many are melee fighters and you have to unlock the dodge move... and they take mountains of damage etc.

If you're also grouping me in with that comment, the time limits bothering me a bit has nothing to do with the challenge they pose, but rather simply putting that sort of restriction in what is basically a sandbox game.

I'm the type of player in these games who'll do the main quest for a bit then go off and goof around, then do some side quests, then goof around more, then perhaps hop back on the main quest, etc. But the time limits imposed here basically give this otherwise sandbox game a continuous forward momentum and I don't feel like I have the time for a zombie-stomping breather.

I suppose I could just take the licking and start the story over a couple of times, but I don't know that I want to do quests I've already completed. I don't have any issue with the save system and how that whole thing works, and the time limit thing isn't some significant criticism. It's just something that gets in the way of how I tend to enjoy these games, but I'm still having plenty of fun with DR2.

I'm on 4-? (I think) it's the one
with the 2 girls from the start

My guy only has a finite number of moves and abilities and the game still finds a way to cheat me out of success.

The person is doing flips and shit and then when I jump out of the way they're doing u-turns mid flip up the stairs :\

How the hell am I suppose to counter that?

The trick to that fight is that
you only need to kill one of them in order to win. Focus on just one of them. I would recommend bringing a weapon with a good reach on it so you can interrupt their special moves before they hit you. Get a couple whacks in, dodge out of the way, rinse & repeat.

The coop bug in the Xbox version sucks. Played through the whole game with a friend and had to sit through so many load screens due to disconnecting and reconnecting. Plus we didn't get the coop achievement.

At least the coop is fucking fun as hell. :lol

I just beat them to death with a nail bat and tons of booze. I would throw up at inopportune times and drop my weapon, but I managed to make it out alive.

People from México, Spain or any other spanish speaking countries, there's a good chance you will find this hilarious.

Not really a spoiler, but you may enjoy discovering this by yourself, anyways...

One of the survivors looks just like El Chavo del Ocho I don't think it is a coincidence, color scheme is almost exactly the same.
Real deal
Guy in the game

Okay, that is awesome :lol

Does anyone know what's going on with the pass card Lenny gives you later in the game if you save him? I went to the Yucatan vault and nothing was out of the ordinary... the card just opened the vault. No money or hidden prompts in it at all.

Freedom Bear = LMG + Robotic Bear
was gg for that one. Set it up in a corner facing the dance floor and just run around dodging the boss. By the time it expired it had done tons of damage. A few hits with a strong weapon and the fight was over.

Slappy is probably the easiest boss in the game. Just
jump kick his fat head when he is heading your way and beat on him until he flames up and spins. When that happens just roll out. Same thing with his explosive shots, roll out.

I found three of them (next to the hotel, Flush roof, Atlantica roof), but where's the fourth one?

Yep; any game that's GFWL is GFWL for good.

One is on top of the movie theater.

Word. I know my way around a console game or two, but I'm still pretty noobish with PC games. ;)

There has been a disturbing lack of gory psychopath deaths in the game so far.
I do have to agree with that a lot. Even the ones that screamed out for them (like Antoine or Seymour) felt very dialed down. It's weird that the zombie violence is as ridiculous as ever, but the Psychopath exits aren't nearly as good. Then again, I don't know how you could ever top Adam's death from the first game. :lol :lol :lol

To this day, that remains as one of the biggest HOLY SHIT moments I've ever had in a game.

OK, I'm right at the beginning, just wandering around, and getting killed by the first two non-zombies that come up for me - the guy in the toilet in the casino, and the guy on the bike near the arena. Any particular tricks or just careful choice of weapons/timing? The bike guy particularly as I don't have any weapons on my bike. Driving and drifting through zombies is fun, but half the time I couldn't see where the biker went, and when I do, he kills me. Didn't help the first time that I had Chad and his wife who I ran over, they defected and killed me with a shotgun..

Like I said, only just started but I can feel the connections starting to form, mentally working out efficient routes etc. Might be a bit mad, but feels like Pikmin to me.

I killed the guy on the bike by just avoiding him as he charged and hitting him with spiked bat when he stops. I did have a speed boost from playing Case Zero though, so you may need another strategy if you aren't fast enough to avoid him.

The strange similarities it shares with Pikmin were instrumental in why I loved the first game so much and why this game is just as fun to play. You are not alone with that sentiment. :D

I started again. I couldn't do that mission I mentioned.

I hate this stupid game

*goes to play more Dead Rising*

Was entering Day-4 on my 2nd playthrough with only 6 survivors left to fill up the notebook. Was invited by a friend for some co-op, killed 5 or so psychopaths and called it a day. I later came back to load up my save and it's back on (his) Day-2.
I thought it was player stats alone that was being saved in co-op?

Does anyone know how the suit of armor works? Once you unlock all the pieces, does it stay in your clothing locker forever, or is it just a one time use thing?

I kinda want to get the 360 version (continuity and all) but will the Frank West DLC actually take info from the actual game, or is it standalone?

It's up in the air really but early reports state it's not a standalone.

I dont think the bosses are cheap at all, they're really rough the first time, but when you learn their gimmick then get back to them a little stronger the next time they go down like nothing

The Chef especially for me, railed me back to back to back the first time but on the next pass I didn't even use a healing item.
