A friend of mine actually commented on it being too low. He loved the movie, but said he wouldn't show it to a kid. I don't know if I agree.

There's nothing in there that a 12+ year old hasn't seen before, they're not as innocent as some want to believe they are. Definitely wouldn't take a 7 year old kid though.

Just saw it...and loved it. The self-referential humor and how self-aware the movie was all the way through was absolutely great. Definitely a top tier Marvel movie even if it was Fox.

Saw it last night. Absolutely hilarious and the action was fun. Nearly every joke landed though some more than others. I'm sure you know which ones those were :). LOVED this movie!

Just finished seeing it. It was fucking awesome. Good action and nice humor. The self awareness was just great. Good to see a movie not take itself so fucking seriously yet still hit hard in some spots.

I just feel that the
scene where the knife gets stuck in his head, allowing him to see Cartoon animals and shit
isn't something I'd want a kid to see. It'd give them bad ideas.
How so? I knew movies were fake when I was a kid, didn't you?
Children aren't stupid.

How's the Dead Pool game btw? Does the humour compare to the film at all? Really need another Dead Pool fix :P

I havn't seen the film yet, but I was really worried the film would be like the game and be really annoying. Every line in the game is delivered like its a punch line, it gets old very quickly. Sounds like the film avoids that pitfall nicely.

Really enjoyed it. Story was super basic but the movie balanced irreverence and vulgarity with genuine charm and wit. Was surprised by how affected I was by the romance. Tonally, the movie just worked in every way. Reynolds was born to play the character. I'm happy for him.

Opening credits were amazing

Just got back. Really enjoyed it, but it's not really the OMG SO GROUNDBREAKING, BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER that some people are making it out to be.
This is pretty much every superhero release (mostly Marvel Studios), "greatest movie ever" and then you forget what even happened

I really enjoyed Deadpool, far more than I expected to. I'm pretty much done seeing MCU films at this point and X-Men Apocalypse looks like trash, but with this, BvS, and Suicide Squad 2016 is looking to be a great year for comic book movies. Hopefully the other two deliver (I have faith in SS, less in BvS but it still looks good)

My biggest fear with Deadpool based on trailers and "WHOA RATED R WOW" was that they'd just be throwing as many vulgar jokes as possible at the wall hoping some would stick. Seems like the worst jokes were all in the trailer, more often than not they were good.

I can't believe how much I enjoyed it. The previews really didn't do it justice. It was really funny and surprisingly genuine. The biggest shock to me was that
the Valentine's Day marketing was actually appropriate
.

This was...really good, not comicbook movie good, not holy shit ,Deadpool got a movie good. Actually, genuinely, properly good and that post credits scene.

Man I saw the 10:55 showing last night in downtown. It's rare to see kids at those kinds of showings. Kinda sad I missed out on the absolute horror from those parents who would bring their kids to this.

Saw it a few hours ago. Yes, I loved it. Yes, I'm still amped up from it. And yes, I am person #2456 to declare this "my #1 superhero movie".

X gave it to me.

Just finished watching the movie a few hours ago. It was really fun and what I expected. I liked it a lot. Also the ending credits scene was amazing, lol.

Can't wait for the sequel.

I was waiting to watch the movie and a Family came in. The son was about 9-10. The mother had to cover the kids eyes a few times.....at the nudity not the decapitations.

How about no kiddos seeing R-rated movies, period?

There was a mom with a bunch of her kids who looked about 10yrs old sitting a row in front of me. She totally went into damage control when there was a bunch of tits and scantly clad women dancing about. It disrupted the movie and some guy yelled at her for bringing her kids.

Yeah but not at the flying limbs.

I feel like a total outcast for not really liking this film. Maybe I'm just getting old?

I felt like the jokes very rarely landed and there was little or no comedic timing or finesse in their execution. It was just a dude reading a bunch of b-tier twitter posts in a snarky voice. I guess one-liners work fine in comics and maybe that makes the movie more true to the character(? haven't read the comics), but in the context of film I found them really bland. I thought Guardians of the Galaxy was a significantly funnier movie with well-executed gags that don't rely on me thinking it's funny that someone said "dicktits."

I think I'd like the film better if you cut out about 3/4ths of the jokes and left only the cream of the crop. I don't know, maybe I just don't like Deadpool as a character? It's just this scattershot approach to comedy and when I don't laugh at like 4 one-liners in a row, when something genuinely funny comes out of his mouth it's more like "Oh hey, you got one. Good for you."

We had people with kids that were prob 5-6 yrs old. I went with some friends, my wife and my mom. My mom was like wtf are all these kids doing in here. Everytime parents came in with young children you heard people start talking, fucking idiot parents.

Re-watched today. The flashback and origin stuff really do drag the film down. Which is weird considering how short the film actually is.

Saw it and thought it was great. Really thought they nailed it. Thought the gags were good, thought the 4th wall breaking was good, was really happy with it.

Don't worry, I felt exactly the same way. *old person fistbump*

I didn't hate it by any means, just from all the hype I was thinking it was gonna be hysterical. Maybe I just don't have that kind of sense of humor.

Saw the movie for a second time tonight, and it still holds up on the re-watch. This is just my rambling thoughts, but I absolutely loved how Deadpool's origin was interspersed throughout the movie via flashbacks as I think it really helped the pacing and humor. Deadpool's character was also very well done tonally, since he was able to walk the fine line of being humorous without getting grating. Reynolds just nailed the character and I'm glad that he stuck with this movie for so long. I can't believe I'm saying this, but this may actually end up being my favorite comic book movie of the year! The character designs for Deadpool and Colossus were incredibly well done to the point that Deadpool felt more like a superhero movie than any other one done by Fox. Maybe this means we can finally get Wolverine in a yellow suit, complete with the cowl and white eyes. :D

Interesting that they credit MvC3 for the character blowing up in the last 5 years or so.

That's crazy! Where was that mentioned?

I liked it more than you did but I'm in a similar boat. The conclusion I've come to is that a lot of it comes down to preferences in humor. Deadpool wasn't really situational comedy or even character comedy, it was rapid fire gags, witticisms, and references. That definitely felt true to the character which is probably why I didn't enjoy quite as much as everyone else. I don't mind the Deadpool character and have enjoyed him in the past but I've never been taken with him. Additionally, the trailers spoiled a lot of the best gags and I subsequently didn't laugh as much as I thought I would. I was still thoroughly entertained but it quickly became apparent that the comedy wasn't the best fit for my tastes.

I'm still extremely happy this movie got made though and that it's doing so phenomenally at the BO.

Hmm, I thought it was consistently hilarious and I was on the "old end" of the audience spectrum in the theater. Different strokes, I suppose.

Loved it, but can definitely understand why some wouldn't enjoy the humor. It's not for everyone. But for the ones it is for, it's fucking glorious.

Morena is amaaaaaaazing

Morena is amaaaaaaazing

Agreed x 100000000. Such a beautiful woman!

Just got home from seeing it and I'm not sure if I've ever had as much fun watching a film. Fucking loved it and the theater was packed too. Definitely going to see it a second time but it may be my favorite comicbook/superhero movie of all time.

Edit: Saw it in a digital IMAX theater and the sound was amazing. Could be the sound design of the film but the action sequences hit hard as hell, every punch and impact. Can't wait for the Blu-ray!

Just got out of my showing. Looooooved it! Funny as hell and great action scenes. Definitely one of the better superhero films.

Oh, America. :D

Thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing was on point. The self-aware humor was hilarious as expected. I had some teenagers sneak into the theater I was in. I wouldn't have cared if they weren't so obnoxious. After I called them out they calmed down though. I could also chuckle to myself because a lot of references went over their heads.

I would also like to say that the romance was really effective and well written. It came off as pretty genuine and heartwarming imo.

So glad that Ryan Reynolds got the movie he wanted. I'm just worried about them shoving a pg rated deadpool into future films. I think the only way it would be acceptable is if they called attention to it. But no 4th wall type of jokes. He shouldn't be reduced to comic relief.

One thing I really appreciated was how in the ending
he shot Francis
. That definitely showed that they had an appreciation for the character. Though I somewhat expected
him to follow through on the skull F-ing due to the full frontal rumors. That's twisted isn't it?

And the
jokes about Ripley/Sinead O'Connor and only having two xmen and the sequel were particularly good

Oh and brilliant OT btw

Agreed. I saw it in a regular theater and in a bad seating position for sound (due to SO's motion sickness) and even noticed it.

I enjoyed Deadpool more than I thought I would. Also non-Krueger-face Ryan Renolds and Ed Skrein are hotties.

What is up with parents bringing their babies and young children to R-rating movies though?! It's so weird to hear little kids giggling during the movie, although they weren't actually too disruptive. hah..

I saw Wade wearing a t-shirt with an E and an N on it and I wondered judging by the white around it if it were a Rent t-shirt. Then I saw some stills and it in fact was a Rent shirt! That's a strange, if cool reference.

Hopefully she missed one of the shots of Ryan's hunky bod and it will lead to her son's sexual awakening.

Alot of parents just dont do the research or even look at the rating it seems. They see what looks to be a superhero movie and think it'll be a bit of fun for the kids. No kids my showing as it was kinda small and the cinema wasn't a busy one but when I saw Kickass there were kids both times I went.

Went a second time to a Saturday afternoon showing. Theatre was 90% full. People working the theatre were shocked at how many people have been coming to see this. They expected Zoolander 2 to be more popular lol

Deadpool is one of the most fun movies in a quite some time. Not every joke hits, but the ones that do are uproariously funny. It's a fine line between a straightforward superhero movie and a spoof, and Deadpool rides that line in a really intriguing way. The plot may be generic, but who cares? We're watching for Deadpool, and this introduces that character perfectly. The action is more a mixed bag. Sometimes it's really easy to follow and just exhilarating, but it also can be a poorly cut mishmash of scenes. The debut direction is a bit obvious at points, but there are moments of true inspiration.

The cast is fantastic. TJ Miller and Morena Baccarin are both great unpowered supporting roles, the former being good comic relief in a DEADPOOL movie and the latter being a big reason this has the best love story in a superhero movie since the first Captain America film. The two X-Men who make appearances are also excellent, and although the movie doesn't need them, it justifies the entire cinematic universe for the sheer humor it adds in a meta way. Meta humor always works for this particular viewer, and Deadpool owns that in spades. A lot of the material comes from Ryan Reynolds' career, who is perfect as Deadpool. He's legitimately one of the most perfect castings for a comic book character, up there with Robert Downey Jr. and J.K. Simmons.

Deadpool works best when it's making fun of itself, but that's a disservice to how well it works as a comedy. Hopefully the inevitable Deadpool 2 amps up the action (and budget), but if that's at the cost of the fun character work and the hilarious cast shining brightly, I'd be fine with another outing like this. Deadpool is the best comic book movie since Guardians of the Galaxy, and an shockingly enjoyable romp.

Agreed on all points! Good post.

Yeah I think it was a Rent shirt, that stuck out to me during the scene
when he was packing up to leave and Vanessa was convicing him to stay.

You know those YouTube channels that always do the 10 THINGS YOU MISSED IN... or ALL THE EASTER EGGS IN...

They are going to have a field day with this movie.
