Death Stranding 2: On the Beach |OT| Ain't That A Beach

Adult life sucks ass

Dude, that alarm clock looks like a dream. My first one goes off at 3am (well tomorrow it will be at 2am, since I want some time before work to play DS2 :messenger_grinning_sweat: )

Dude keep the possible spoilers at minimum, some people in here didn't watched all the trailer or know all the tagline one-liners to have hypothesis about the plot...

Now i'm gonna have that notion in the back of my mind for the whole game :messenger_confused:

I'm addicted to road construction again.

As ridiculous is this sounds, road-building is fucking crack in these games for some reason.

Director's cut of DS1 added a particularly massive new stretch of road, and I remember what felt like a week of play solely gathering materials and finishing it off....

It was EPIC !!!

that was my favorite part of the first game until i unlocked the zip lines.

When playing the directors cut on my second playthrough, i promised myself that i wont haul cement and metal to all those highways, but i couldnt help myself. I then built the entire new mountain highway by myself and fell in love with the game all over again.

It's even better this time with the mining mechanic and superior combat/stealth that makes me want to raid enemy camps for hours.

I think it's as simple as the game rewards you for collecting and transporting.

Kinda ironic, building games has been always trolled and shat on as a nerd, obscure pc centric genre like city builders or work simulators but now a console centric game has a semplified version of that and many people think it's the coolest shit ever (not me, i still hate building shit in every game :lollipop_squinting: )

I guess that having a simplified building game inside a more traditional game and the whole getting likes to get endorphines\sense of community help a lot.

I'm sorry, didn't think that one through as I thought 'i don't even know anything about the game', but yeah, there are people going in blind who are reading in here, which is weird for me, but they exist...so...sorry... Edited my post, you should edit the quote in yours.

I think its basically that it adds just enough friction to make it feel valuable, and then reinforces that sense of value by making the end-result empowering to the construction/transport mechanic.
Essentially, a text-book positive feedback loop.

I've played for about six hours and I'm still on Chapter One because I've been doing aid requests, finding lost cargo everywhere and returning them to the facilities I've been to which is getting me better equipment and resources. I'm likely going to sink well over 100 hours into this.

The sound design for this game is also incredible, even the smallest of details is so satisfying to hear. I love how they integrate it with the controller.

Haptic feedback and triggers are also really well implemented. Everything just feels, looks and sounds so good to do

my 10 year old thinks adult life is amazing because i can buy whatever games I want.

meanwhile he wakes up at 12 then plays games all day until midnight since he's on summer break for three fucking months while i slave away on my laptop nitpicking video games all day on neogaf.
One day it will hit him hard when he becomes an adult. I'm not even married yet and adult life sucks already
man. I am lucky. I work 8-16 and I work 5 minutes away from my home.
I got 8 hours daily for gaming and I choose to scroll yt shorts :D
But hey, I dont have kids.... and I probably like that too much
I work 12 hours 4 days a week and I get 4 days off. Not married too but it's hectic since I fix airplanes :')

Been there, done that mate 🥲

At least you are mentally ready :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

So far I'm finding Brutal difficulty to be slightly more difficult than Very Hard from the first game, which is a good thing IMO

Also in case anyone was wondering, there is no reward (as far as I can tell) for S Ranking all the Porter Mastery VR challenges. Did level up melee combat a few times while trying to S Rank the final challenge, though.

Papitos, one question. Is there any way to remove the slow motion everytime you shoot enemies? It's a bit annoying to be honest

10 hours in, connected a couple of sectors in the second continent, and I have one gripe. The game is kind of trivial, even on 'brutal' difficulty. Something seems off with the balancing.

While I'm thankful that I haven't encountered any 'Unger missions' so far, your basic enemies are helpless morons.
In order to clear a base, it seems that you just have to stun them, and they permanently despawn?
To do so in DS1 you had to kill them and come up with a plan to haul them to the next crematory in time to avoid a voidout.
I had lots of fun doing exactly this and fear that they got rid of the mechanic in DS2 altogether, or I'm just not there yet.

At this point of time, I worry that the game will end up being a bit too casual... miss my crematories and corpse disposal logistics :messenger_crying:

Married for two weeks now after 20 years together. Had a daughter when we were 18 years together and our son is on its way due October.
Marriage won't change the relationship one bit... But the kids man... The kids :messenger_grinning_sweat:

A tip: you can tie your cargo.

1.Put down your backpack( holding triangle)

2. Equip the strand, and point towards the backpack.

3. You should get a prompt to tie your backpack

It protects your cargo in case you fall

I have checked everywhere and I dont see an option. What a shame
People told me that it's only for headshot but from what i saw, it look like it turn on for almost every enemy...

Maybe it's only headshots and melee but that is already a lot of occasions because people naturally try to aim for the head.

Holy shit, how did I not know you could put your backpack on the floor and use strand on it to basically hold them together so they don't fall off......................

Also throwing a blood grenade and shooting through the smoke turns your bullets to blood bullets greatly increasing damage against BTs.

I love this game

No its every enemy "kill". Satisfying still, but its really overused and you have a lot more combat in this than the first one. Should've been only headshots and melee KOs

Gameplay is insane in this with incredible improvements all across the board. Im loving the combat aswell

Not sure if being friends with someone makes stuff more likely to show up in game, but feel free to add me on PSN if anyone wants: Scrawnton is my ID.

ahhh yes!
A fellow engineer!
Nice. Now you understand why I feel why everyone else is so stupid :D

So instead of expanding on the burning bodies and void out mechanics, they outright removed it? Smh

And from reading on the internet it seems the game actually has 4 casual difficulty level, basically all of them

Sometimes I wonder, do they not have any hardcore gamers among those developers? They must have spent 1000s of hours testing the game and not one dev thought the game was too fucking easy? How does that happen?

I am looking for a slim so I can play this.

In case anyone is desperate to get rid of one for a good deal.

Can't believe a new Kojima game is upon us and I'm not playing

We can't list code giveaways anymore? The option is no longer available on the side tab, I never noticed it was missing.

It's one of those rare games that makes me want to gush about some of the stuff that I've seen, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Needless to say, there are so many cool little touches and surprises.
