I'm gonna risk going very high(94%), but since Kojima is unpredicable it could be less.

Started playing the first to see if I could generate any hype for the sequel and man the first 8 hours I've played have been a slog of cutscenes for every little thing, breaks in what little gameplay you're allowed and a supporting cast that never shuts the fuck up. Why do i need a cutscene for providing mats to upgrade a structure? Or drinking a can of energy shyte? Or a cutscene every time BTs turn up?

Does some of this get better as I get further in or nah?

I'm torn between an 87 and an 89. This game has powerful "high 80's" energy.

It looks beautiful and ambitious but the high concept won't click with everyone and you'll get a couple of the standard "Kojima would rather make movies than games" reviews. The original got an 82, and I expect the sequel will improve on that by at least a few points.

Spider-Man 2 was amazing and deserving of being in the 90s. Posts like yours are so dumb.
It should have been nowhere near 90 and I say this as someone who has the first game amongst my favourite games of all time.

The story was a huge mess, the last act was severely rushed, made no sense and obviously had a lot cut. There's enough out there as evidence which shows this was the case. Clear as day that when the final act starts it was meant to be the midpoint of the story yet it ended up being just the last 20%.

The game released in a very broken state, suits had placeholders, the open world content bugged post-story, crashed often for people, audio would go mute and so on.

Side content was piss poor which was one of the biggest complaints of the first game yet they didn't take any of it on board.

Miles' story arc is more or less non-existent, having him as a playable character in the game did absolutely nothing. Let alone how similar both characters play and the way there were no missions where both interact in a way you would expect from a modern superhero video game featuring two characters.

I could say way more but the game was a complete rushed and cut mess. How it got a 90 MC is shocking, doesn't even deserve an 80. My biggest gaming disappointment of all time.

For me personally it will be 10 SleepEze tablets out of 10. The first one was a powerful sleep agent, I never managed to get far. The trailers look cool as fuck though, I wish it would drop the delivery part.

90% there seems to be improvements in rythm and combat.

I hope for 90s

Offtopic, but how can i vote? I cant choose anything?

I think there will be allot of perfect score but also allot of very bad score especially from ign, thegamer, gamespot, kotaku, edge, and some random vloggers. I think it will be just like ds1 very divisive reviews. Review are just guide, i dont rely my decision on review but on my own instinct, conscience, and discernment. Anyway I will already have my physical copy on June 26. Im so excited. I truly believe this will be the best game of this generation.

Reading is hard. I never said that. Stop being so angry when someone doesnt like your "god".

"Stop being so angry" - said the guy that is always angry and always whining, God, the lack of self awareness is truly something else.

Also, there you go again with the condescending bullshit, you really didn't learn anything from your latest ban...

You're being Insufferable once again

Story difficulty, check. Turn off boss battles, check. Turn off unnecessary cutscenes, check. Gonna cheese my way through this, otherwise I'll never finish. I probably still won't.

Is it again Uber Eats Simulator, or have they changed anything in the gameplay?
They have. You now play as the baby and deliver the food orders by crawling across the apocalyptic landscapes. Each delivery takes up to 130 hours so the game is some real fucking value clocking in at 125,000 hours.

Shit is real this time around chief!

The First Death Stranding was initially pretty divisive with its 82-83 score on metacritic and opencritic. It does seem though as time has went on, it has been looked at more favorably across the industry as people appreciated more what it is, instead of what it isn't (MGS). The Director's Cut versions included additional content and received a bump in score to 85-86, but I also think part of that bump was due to the game gaining appreciation over time.

The sequel looks like it's an improvement over the original in every way from its visuals, dynamic weather changes, combat, story. I'm expecting a definite step up here, and that combined with the series aging well in general has me putting this score at a minimum high 80s, but I will not be surprised to see it crack 90+

I'm going to go optimistic here and say a 91. I have little doubt this will be my game of the year personally. Loved the first one.

It really wasn't. It was such a let down. Like Metal Gear died for this shit?!! I couldn't finish it. The game has the worse traversal mechanism of all games. Like i'd rather have to push a button to keep shitting under my characters ass to make him move forward than dealing with that delivery bullshit.

??? I love PlayStation first party. The Last of Us Part II is my favorite game of all time.

In no world is Spider-Man 2 a 90+ game.
In a world where Halo Infinite gets an 87, ratchet gets an 88, starfield gets an 83, deathloop an 88, ff16 a 87, alan wake 2 an 89, it is definitely a 90 game. It's better than all those games.

for some reason, game scores have become inflated this gen after a somewhat ok gen last gen. spiderman 2 to me is an 8. but then again, i rank AW2 and starfield a 6, and ratchet, hfw and ff16 a 7.

I will never get over how Halo Infinite is at 87 on metacritic.

The scale is out of whack. Seems like a lot of people see metacritic between 70 and 80 as mediocre and anything below 70 as just bad. What's the point of the scale when only the top 30% of it is acceptable?

IGN reviewer is different this time. Its their best one and the guy loved DS1 and DS2 preview so im expecting a good score.

I think reviewers will be a lot kinder to this compared to the first. While it's still very much a love/hate kind of game, people seem to understand what it is and what it's not. High 80s this time around, maybe it will scratch 90? I think it will still be divisive and that will hurt the meta score.

I haven't plat DS1 yet and don't really know what its about and the gameplay but the trailer for Death Stranding 2 looks awesome so i might jump in. Huge fan of the metal gear solid series so kojima is a goat to me.

90+ would be a failure for Kojima given he wants his game 'about connecting people' to 'be divisive' (don't try to understand, he operates on a higher plane of logic). His dream score would be ~75.

I don't think that's Sony bias in the game's media - the same games media that gave Halo Infinite an 87. More like general score inflation. Although I expect Ghost of Yotei to get pretty mediocre reception by PS Studios standards, even from critics.
