Despite Not Requiring PSN Account, Stellar Blade's PC Version Blocked in 130+ Countries - ShiftUp Were Not Aware

I don't understand what is the point of blocking the sale of a digital game in a certain country, I can understand maybe not considering to distribute a physical version because of costs/expected sales, but a digital copy? Even if only 1000 people buy it, it's free money.

Some countries are gonna miss out…..

My guess is there's laws and taxes associated with selling in these countries that Sony isn't setup for.

All the tax reporting and so on. Sony might not have the service set up for it and doesn't want to bother.
That the best I can think of.

Welcome to your all digital future. It's as bad as us physical media purists have been saying from day fucking one.
Sony being the one and so far only company to pull this shit, when everyone else joined the 21st century at least a decade ago, does not make this scenario the "all digital future". The Sony shit gets so much attention every time exactly because it isn't the norm.

Physical media purists continuing to blow shit out of proportion is why the bulk of the industry doesn't take their warnings seriously anymore, even when they do end up being true.

Every other company manages, far smaller ones than Sony have managed it in fact.

This is legacy baggage, and a refusal to do the necessary thing and overhaul the PSN infrastructure entirely rather than continuing to build on the old PS3 framework that was outdated even at launch, and continues to create problems like this up to now.

Lol when a platforms users coordinate a fraudulent mass-refunding scheme then they get what they get.

It's always a few dickheads ruining things for everyone else.

PSN doesn't but they not buying it from PSN but Steam. So still doesn't make any sense.
Yes, but the thing is that Sony doesn't have accounting operations on those countries, so they refuse to sell their games over there. It's a matter of logistics, but yes, they unironically don't want those countries' money.

Sounds that Sony is basically incompetent. One person dev studios manage to sell shit on Steam worldwide, but somehow this is an insurmountable barrier for Sony. 🤡🤡🤡

Which is funny because people in those countries do buy playstation consoles and have psn accounts.

Sony can do it (they used to), they just choose not to, as weird as it sounds. Stubborn company things.
(and not, it's not about MAU either, as PSN is completely optional)

What are you even talking about? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

you can always easily import a disc version... that's what he's talking about. often you don't even have to and get it through stores that sell imported titles.
using a VPN to get around region locks on Steam can get you banned for example and you can only change region every 3 months anyway.

Isn't this simply because the option for a PSN login is available in the game and sony simply blanket blocks those games in those countries because they don't officially support PSN there?
I guess they want to avoid people complaining that they can't make a PSN account if they wanted to.

The disc version of the PC game? We are talking about a Steam version.
