Destiny |OT14| Sticking It Hard in Crota's End

I tried quitting, but I keep coming back for one more spin of the roulette wheel. I have a serious Love/Hate relationship with the game that is weighted much more on the Hate side the last couple weeks but I keep playing like a gambling addict who hits the casino on pay day. At least I'm not going to lose the shirt off my back for this one.

Not the shirt off your back, but something more valuable - your time and potential to be productive in this world :)

The problem for a few right now is the fruits of spinning that wheel came all too quickly and cheaply with Dark Below. I might be in the minority, but I honestly disliked how quickly and cheaply getting to 31 was... it was possible to reach 31 on the first day of the DLC ffs! Then follow that with how easily most people dropped gear doing exceptionally trivial parts of the new raid to take them towards 32... I saw people simply bypassing much of the late 20s efforts by dropping gear with lots of light tagging along in CE. Great for them avoiding much of that grind, but doesn't gel with the measures in place previously to steady the process - it went too far the other way and favoured latecomers and new alt characters and that disrespected the effort put in by everyone who played to the further reaches of the game pre-DB.

Gaining level 32 and having all the available new raid weapons a mere 17 days after the release of the DLC left me scratching my head again, stuck for any compelling reason to continue... it was the grind and the promise of goodies, the carrot on the stick, that kept myself and the guys I play with coming back for more... and 3 weeks later we're all pretty much maxed out and at the point we were weeks before the DLC dropped, yet without anything on the horizon convincing us to stick around.

Hard Raid and primary weapons, yeah, there is that, but I'm not convinced it's coming this month when CE exploits are still being discovered. The OT title is premature, should have waited until it was actually a thing, maybe OT 16.

Turning my Eidolon Ally into a Nechrochasm, sure, that would be something to do... but what am I expected to do with that once I get it? The content has already been consumed and regurgitated and wolfed back down like a bent greyhound and his oats. Maybe it'll be like the Mythoclast and handy for doing certain bounties in 1 minute instead of 2, yeah, I don't see myself doing the same old bounties again and again when there's nothing compelling me to do so.

I really do want to play Destiny, I'd love to turn it on right now and have something to do, but like the guardian outside the gates to the sleepy hive, there's nothing left.

The game desperately needs content that evolves, worlds that change week to week and keep you on your toes. I remember reading Deej say something about the Fallen withdrawing from a part of the Cosmodrome or something, I thought that was the beginning of a new chapter in the game, that I wouldn't be seeing the same old three Dregs appear in the same place each time I pass a certain rock... I probably misread that and imagined something that will never be, at least until the game is no longer held back by the shackles of parity with the ps360 games.

ComputerMkII, I think that's more like a rant, apologies everyone for the WoT.

I'm still gainfully employed and only play games after family responsibilities are complete which is usually means sacrifice sleep for game time. I just choose to not do anything valuable with my time outside of work. The only thing it's hurting is my backlog because I have bought 4 games since Destiny has released and barely touched them at all.

Maybe I am mis-remembering but I do seem to recall some of the promotional content and developer diaries a year before release implying that the game was a persistent world, or something like that and there would be things changing and evolving every day. Something new for you to do or experience. It's all a lie or something changed.

Looking to run VoG Hard in about an hour or so, anyone up for it?

EDIT: Running from Conflux checkpoint, because fuck the spire.

Gjallarhorn number 4 lol. It's the old one though. VoG chest just keeps giving me Ballarhorns.

I am really perplexed at Bungie's decision to not allow player trading. Maybe they didn't want to deal with the black market that would develop, but who cares.

I wonder what the going rate for Gjallarhorn would be if it could be sold traded to other players.

That was a comment regarding the nerf of a loot cave. I dont think he meant that something will change in the gameworld.

"The Fallen have also retreated from their hold over the Rocket Yard to discuss a new takeover plan"

Yeah, I would totally trade
sell
my spare Gjallarhorn. Now I'm just dismantling it. Kind of a shame, cause I could have made a friend or GAFfer very happy.

Public Service Announcement: Anyway, I'm staying in the Gorgon cave for about the next fifteen minutes or so while I grab something to eat. Feel free to grab the checkpoint and your loot. Psn is JinjoNL.

Edit: gone.

I think this is just part and parcel of what we'll see going forwards with Comet, and even future Destiny games. Like WoW if they want people to buy in fresh for Comet or Destiny 2, they can't make them feel 6 months behind the rest of us before getting to run the content that got them to buy in.

On our part, we get the 'entertainment' of running the grind as it is the first time through, that's the content we're paying to enjoy. A lot of people have issues with that content and that is a fair point. For my part I just love the gunplay and that's enough for me to keep playing, but I think we're always going to see shortcuts for latecomers with every point release and just have to respect the time we put in as our time with the game that was, rather than lambast the game that now is.

I agree completely with your evolving world points, I was really hoping we'd see some of that; I've not noticed anything that Deej mentioned about Fallen retreating from the cosmodrome, all the spawns seem the same to me. The only thing I have noticed as new is that Vex now spawn in that part of Mars that was a completely lifeless zone between the OWT transit station and the scablands - that must have been a bug fix.

Finally got the look I want! Well kind of, I can't find a decent looking helmet besides the exotics. If only I could wear Inmost Light with it. T_T

Now I have to level everything up again. Also Microsoft get a screenshot feature you cheapskates.

Veteran Gunslingers: does Chain of Woe boost reload speed the way Outlaw does? Slower reload vs Fatebringer is the only thing holding me back from loving it fully but maybe leveling my Hunter could fix that?

When stacked three times it's about as quick as outlaw.

I know people who have played the game for 500+ hours and still don't have a God Horn. You got the best hand cannon (FBringer) and the best overall weapon (Gjallahorn) in the entire game, haha. Congrats!

Edit: And you got the 300 max GH while Xur is still in town with the upgrade 331 version! Holy fuck.

Just checked. 696 hours...3x hard mode raids completed every week except the first 3 or so that the game was out..

No godhorn, no Fatebringer.

The only non dlc exotic don't have is the horn.

But I ain't even mad though.....sooooon.

My Hunter will be a force to be reckoned with then. My 331 Hawkmoon deserves a character who can reload quickly.

It's a really fun class to play and I haven't even leveled it yet. Kind of wish I'd made my second a Hunter and not a Warlock.

Haha yeah, Handcannons suit the Gunslinger Hunter really well. Using my Thorn on him. Hawkmoon is pretty good with the speed reload perk. Always pick that one now over the little bit of extra range.

I've got 3 (including me) for a CE run. Either fresh or Crota first then first two phases.

Crota's Ass Fresh or Crota first

1.) DrDrizzay101
2.) Australian Friend of Drizzay
3.) Australian Friend of Drizzay
4.) pansargryning
5.)
6.)

I'll join if you still have a spot. Not sure what character I'll take, but it'll be lvl 31. On your friends list, Dr_LawyerCop

This attitude is what sets this community - and by extension this game - apart from other online experiences.
Especially DestinyGAF. I was telling a friend this morning that if it weren't for all of you I'd have moved on a long time ago. Destiny solo is not the greatest experience in the world.

Not sure if you can hear anybody in the party chat, but a few of us were getting NAT errors with you. Maybe try leaving and rejoining if you read this? No idea if that actually helps but seems to work occasionally.

"Up for anything" with Persistence, Field scout (56 bullets in magazine) and Crowd control is a thing of beauty.

Was catching up with the thread but thought I'd quote this one.

My "Up for anything" has counterbalance, field scout, and crowd control and it's glorious!
