Got excited that this was human revolution for a second since the PS2 version of this game released on PS recently so I wasn't expecting this. Then looking at the state of the remaster, no thanks. Also I still remember how trash the Star Wars battlefront remaster was.

What about Human Revolution? This is the one I'm looking for.

edit: Aren't these guys the same behind SW relaunch games? I'm fucking out.

I think I'm good, that PS2 version I've finished recently wasn't actually that much worse than what I remember from PC and I liked the OG visuals (and character models).

Deus Ex is my favourite game of all time. And this "remastering" looks like dog shit.

*sigh*

It's not a PS exclusive, at least, so we can all suffer together.

The most important part of this reveal were the changes to make console controls more viable.

The most confusing part of this reveal is that Sony had recently released the PS2 version with worse controls.

I am pretty sure that floor in that big red room with the hand has realtime planar reflections in the original. in their remaster it looks like they removed the reflections and just have some specular sheen

don't tell me they did that across the board... because the planar reflections were one of the key visual showpieces of the original. it was even used as a game mechanic in select moments (let you look around corners)

given how most modern games seems to be allergic to planar reflections, I am worried.

This looks like shit. Yeah, it's a remaster of a very dated game, but the changes they've made look awful. Why are all the characters shiny?

"We are remastering Deus Ex.."

WOOOOWWW YE-

"... with the help of Aspyr"

OH NOOOOOOOOO

Well, if they release a physical version i might give it a try. It honestly looks terrible, hopefully there is a toggle or something.

Great pickup. Really does look like they've stripped out the reflections from that scene - which means it, along with every other scene that uses it (like UNATCO lobby), will actually look even worse than the original game. I shudder to think they'll stuff SSR in it's place...

For their TR remastered, Aspyr actually used the original source code and updated the engine for modern machines. They brought in fans from the Open Lara project to assist, and let them assemble a crack team of preservationists, to ensure they represented the games as faithful as possible. That showed that Aspyr was at least trying to produce good remasters, even if they fall well short of Night Dive's heroic outputs.
Here for Deus Ex, it's clearly fucked from the first frame of the remaster in the trailer, so I'm guessing there's issues somewhere in the pipeline that's limiting what they can do. The original Deus Ex used a slightly modified UE1 - I wonder if they ran into license bullshit that maybe limited them here? Or maybe I'm just trying to rationalise someone butchering my favourite game.
