Extremely poor showing.
That game doesn't use PSSR right?Yep just look at HFW on Pro in comparison.
30fps doesn’t look or feel great on OLED TVs, apparently. What does OLED have to do with it?
No, the Pro performance are retro fits to existing games. I wouldn't say it's unoptimized just not designed with the Pro in mind.Like I said, clearly VERY unoptimized on Sony hardware.
Imagine my shock that 800p don't scale well to 4k...
Me too, for real. I love my 4070, I dont see the need to upgrade for a long time tbhI need to take the RTX 4070 out of my PC, give it a dusting and a hug and put it back with an "I love you".
in the end it is what it is, console lacking in bandwidth + pssr is far from dlssNo, the Pro performance are retro fits to existing games. I wouldn't say it's unoptimized just not designed with the Pro in mind.
That is the bottom line. Remedy has to send a better patch next time. It's a bad patch that needs work
Still do not get why Remedy decided to throw more effects into the game rather than raise the resolution.
This game isn’t representative of the Pro. It’s arguably its worst performer.HeisenbergFX4 Are current ps5 pro versions just weak ports or is this really all the ps5 pro can muster...because its underwhelming to say the least. I remember you mentioned devs saying it would perform close to a 4070 in realtime games but so far it isn't close. I mean even in raytracing workloads its just underwhelming.

They've been like that since Xbox 360. Alan Wake was once 720p on the X360 before they lowered the resolution to 540p in favor of higher visual effects.
That game doesn't use PSSR right?
PSSR struggles right now with image stability and noise, it's worse in this game since internal resolution and settings are lower than in other games, but Ratchet for example had this same problem, or Hogwarts.
Also just like with Hogwarts, adding more RT features versus the PS5 version seem like a bad idea, guess due to being an AMD card after all, maybe they should just focus on raising the non-RT settings for these versions instead in the future
It might be but the pro is underperforming in just about every port so far, especially underwhelming in rt workloads considering that was supposed to be the main improvement in the architecture. This game isn’t representative of the Pro. It’s arguably its worst performer.
Damn, this is true test to upscale quality:
I wouldn't recommend anyone using DLSS with lower than 1080p internal res on 4k output but it clearly handles things better than PSSR.

In video whole image is also very unstable on PS5 Pro.
I don’t know what people were expecting. Well, maybe I do.
30fps judderWhat does OLED have to do with it?
It doesn't do that on non-OLED devices either.30fps doesn’t look or feel great on OLED TVs, apparently.
Do you have a link with more useful information on this ?30fps judder
Silent Hill doesn't have an official Pro patch yet. So it is probably running into issues where a "boost" setting needs to be turned off on the console itself, or they just need to patch it up proper.Doesn’t Silent Hill 2 have the same problem?
I thought it did? It’s showing Pro Enhanced…Silent Hill doesn't have an official Pro patch yet. So it is probably running into issues where a "boost" setting needs to be turned off on the console itself, or they just need to patch it up proper.
Thats the missing feature i cant find. I cant find any boost mode option in the settings.Silent Hill doesn't have an official Pro patch yet. So it is probably running into issues where a "boost" setting needs to be turned off on the console itself, or they just need to patch it up proper.

I find it varies from game to game. If frame pacing is on point I can live with 30fps.30fps judder
There is no Raytracing in the performance mode.Remember this gem - https://www.neogaf.com/threads/ps5-...tion-than-dlss-running-on-a-4090-gpu.1674846/
But yeah pretty bad showing. No point of pushing more RT effects if image quality looks like mush.
There was nothing in patch notes about Pro support and people claim to be still be waiting.I thought it did? It’s showing Pro Enhanced…
There will be other development houses that will do more with better results. This is not the thesis, no matter the spin.PSSR has a long way to go, as does RT on Playstation, it appears. Pretty poor case study here. Once you hit the Pro with a rendering challenge like AW2 it just collapses. Even a 3070 wipes it out because it has better RT and RR.
Why do these look nothing like the official pictures shared from Remedy themselves prior to Pro release?
RT:
This is vs. low RT setting...
The shadow quality is awful on PS version. Doesn't help with the noisy RT.There is no Raytracing in the performance mode.

The only other game with rendering as advanced as AW2 is Cyberpunk 2077. And I think it will fare comparatively bad on the Pro should they do an update for it.
But sure, let's wait and see if other developers pick up the rendering challenge. Nvidia DLSS and RR for RT heavy games is just so far ahead of what the Pro can do.
Alan Wake 2 is most of the most technologically impressive video games on the market today, so its transition onto PlayStation 5 Pro should be a match made in heaven, right? Oliver Mackenzie and Alex Battaglia shares notes on their experience with the new version of the game, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the upgrade, along with PC upscaler and ray tracing comparisons.
