I actually prefer the more diverse colouring of vegetation in the original and volumetric lighting is t always a win. I have no desire to replay the game, so I won’t be getting it.

I think it’s clearer though that a lot of this ‘oh no they made Alloy fat in the face!’ Was pretty unfounded. It comes from the FW lighting model (and muscle deformation) for characters making everyone look a bit thicker, as is easily observable in this side by side comparisons.

It is impressive that so much work went into it, but still

I have a theory that Sony wants to keep their MSRPs high, so we’re getting new versions of their older games to justify it.

And yeah it really only makes sense if you are a new customer who wants the game or want to replay it with an update for 10 dollars. This is not a massive difference.

This could also double as time and experience to further scale up Nixxes, but that’s not all that interesting for the end consumer. This still feel indulgent in a way that is so tiring.

Will be interesting to see the Pro performance mode with an unlocked framerate though. Provided they still offer the extant base PS5 mode like for like.

Forbidden West looks considerably better. What a useless remaster.
Considerably? No.

That said, are we now expecting remasters of older games to look better than proper current gen games? Last of Us Part I, for example, still looks better than Part II Remastered. As it should.

That’s likely the case here, but there is nothing useless about a $10 upgrade that is so massive.

Looks nice but in a world of never ending backlogs, I really don't have the time or inclination to give this game another 30hrs of my valuable time.

Not match HFW quality and no any RT feature just a waste not needed.
Looks very good overall, but I'm disappointed they didn't do a better job with the water. It still looks outdated and not as good as the Forbidden West. RT reflections could have been an easy win there.

Well it's a great game so it's nice to see it get a fresh coat of paint, but I already played through twice so I'm good.

I don't think anyone doubted it would look better. I mean no shit, that's the entire point of the project.

The criticism comes from the viewpoint that the idea of remastering a 7 year old game and trying to sell it for $50 is stupid. And nothing here has changed that.

It’s a $10 upgrade

This is a massive upgrade for $10. We should be thankful that Sony is updating its hits as new hardware rolls out. Imagine if Nintendo or Xbox did the same with their heavy hitters?

It just looks dated doesn’t it?

They did a decent job upgrading the foliage, lighting and some textures but the rocks still look ps4 quality, the buildings look dated, the draw distance is mid, and the overall look of the game still screams last Gen.

Nixxes had a great opportunity to go above and beyond like bluepoint does and they kind of blew it.

Hopefully this game makes people appreciate other true next Gen only games that have released this Gen.

Yes dated as hell not even close to HFW quality

They did and it was hilarious. Just a small sample of GAF experts at work without help from DF:

Hahaha is this a troll? this shit looks worse, not better.
I prefer the original. $10 for crap like this is ridiculous.
Is it me or is the "remaster" looking worse?
One way to make a game look different. Change the hair from ginger brown to black!
I’m no expert but shouldn’t the remastered graphics look better than the original?
This is fake, right? Why does it look worse.

It looks better most of the time but "next gen difference"? It is not:

Original had shit water even in 2017, this is the most striking difference. Looks like they also removed warm color filters in some enviroments.

The only thing night and day difference was really the water.

Just show how bad the water was in the original.

People can defend whatever they want this remaster, but I still think is an unnecessary remaster. Sure looks better in some parts, but others are just artistic choises between graphics.
